Shelby's P.O.V

I know that Light isn't made to be mean. And I was fully aware of this since the beginning. But...

'You want me to be more mean?'

'Yes I do actually.'

'Well... I'm gonna try. Gimmie a name.'

'Jimmy!'

'Of someone in the FAE, you dimwit.'

'Hm, name calling. That's a start. Um... Lauren.'

'Alright then.'

'Why are you doing this now?'

Because I've had the urge to do it for a while. 'Because you won't stop nagging me to do it.'

'No I won't.'

Lauren was in her room, eating bread and staring off into space. She didn't pay attention to me until I locked the door. She looked at me with a small, friendly smile. "Hey Shelby. Did you need something?" Lauren asked.

I stood still, not moving a single muscle. 'Do something!'

'Like what?!'

'I dunno, take her magic or something.'

'She's a mentor, how much is she worth anyway?'

'Say that to her!'

I sat down in Lauren's desk chair, turning it round to face her. "So... you're a mentor? Hm. Don't think you're worth much these days," I said.

"What do you mean?" Lauren asked slowly. She didn't look upset.

"The FAE are strong enough without you mentors. All you ever do is shout commands. And even then, they aren't necessary. So I guess what I'm saying is... do you really think you need to be here?"

"I-I..."

"What if... you know... I forced my sword through your chest. How would we all feel then? If you die... Will can't bring you back. The only people who can are Cory and I, and that's only if we work together. I wouldn't be willing to do that."

"Then the others will get rid of you. There's more of them than there is of you."

"Not for long. The EAPE are weak. They need someone strong to better lead them. Someone like me."

"No... b-but you've been gifted the power of Life! You are the embodiment of Light, what the good-hearted people represent! You can't turn over."

"And what are you gonna do to stop me? Face it, Lauren, you're weak now. You may have been strong all those months... years ago, even... but I'M the real powerful one now."

"I'm not weak..." Sadness shined in Lauren's eyes. It... it made me smile.

"Oh, but you are. Mentors were only powerful when we started out. But now you're just a burden." I chuckled. "You're not worth anymore of my time, you weak little swine."

"Shelby, d-"

"Bye now!"

I was gone in a flash of light.

I sighed when I appeared back in my bedroom. 'That was great! I was thoroughly entertained.'

'I have to be honest with you... I-I...'

'What? Ooh! Did you enjoy it?'

'M-maybe...'

'Oh, Shelby, your soul isn't pure! This is great. Evil always did have more power. They just don't know that yet. So we're gonna show them once we get control of the EAPE.'

'We're moving a bit quick, don't you think? I've only messed with one person... I want to upset more of them.'

'Hm. Sounds great.'

There was a loud knock on the door.

'O-okay! Play it cool, like nothing happened. If you can convince them it wasn't you, then you'll either: A, upset them more when you leave, or B, have more anger and power when they throw you out.'

'Alright then...'

I opened the door to everyone else standing there, excluding Danny and Liam, Will and Graser. They all filed in, not saying a single word, looking a bit angry. And I mean... who wouldn't in this situation? I went and sat on my bed. I noticed that Jess was on the other side of the room with Max and Ross, all three of them looking incredibly sad. Lauren and Cory went over to them. The others all came over to me. "Care to explain yourself?" Yammy asked, arms crossed.

"I-I... I'M SORRY!" I burst into tears, surprised that I forced them out so easily.

"You hurt us all by your actions."

"It wasn't me! It wasn't me..."

I couldn't hear Scott lecturing me. 'I know I said don't tell the others about me, but... do it.'

'Are you sure?'

'Yes. It'll be worth it, trust me.'

'O-okay, if you want me to...'

"Are you even listening?" I came back to Scott asking.

"I need to t-tell you all something..." I choked out.

"What?"

"You said that Jack was taken over by his demons. Well... m-mine is talking to me, she takes over and goes ham on everyone. I can't hold her back, I-I promise I never mean to harm anyone."

I heard a sniffle, and I looked up to see Scott crying slightly. Yammy hugged him. "But... that hasn't happened to a Light element since... since well..." Sasha spluttered.

"Since when?"

"Her name was Mariel. She was apart of the FAE about 2000 years ago. She was one of the mentors of the mentors that mentored our mentors, yet... she was still a Light. Although her power was never as strong as it was before a girl called Rebecca became her element, she still had that energy. Every time someone takes over your element, you get a new power, though it's not as powerful. One day, she started thinking lowly of herself. And... well, we all know what happens when depression gets the best of you."

"Yet Mariel came back. But she wasn't her," Yammy continued. "She stayed with us shortly before disappearing. We think she went to the EAPE, seeing as her last words to Nicola, who was Water element before getting her Memory Reading magic as a mentor, were, 'I am going to make sure you all turn to the EAPE.' But that didn't work, obviously."

'The reason Lights don't meet their demons like you is because Light was always powerful, as Life is the roots of everything this Earth has. But I'm stronger because of your depression and anxiety and held-in anger from before you gained your powers.'

"Surely you don't have to be so scarring," Lizzie said. "You may have only spoken to Lauren, but that still takes a toll on everyone."

"Being a Light means you should be able to control your demons better," Scott said, calming down. "You have more power, a-"

"My past has weakened me," I interrupted. "I'm sorry I can't control myself. I'm sorry I'm not perfect like everyone in my element before me. I'm sorry I'm not what the Gods envisioned! You all expect so much from me. You would never understand how hard my life is. How hard it is to keep a grip on my actions. I'm losing my mind, but hey, what can you do?"

Everyone stared at me. 'I... I think I can make it look like I'm controlling you.'

'How?'

'Just hand over the reins.'

"Shelby... y-your eyes..." Callum pointed out.

"Why are you all here?" my demon had me say. "None of you deserve to be here. The real power comes from me, do you not understand that?" I giggled. "Who am I kidding? Of course you don't. Y'all are too dumb. But it's funny. You really think that the lot of you have power over me? I'm Life. I am everything. I am existence. I will ALWAYS be able to better you. I will ALWAYS be able to hold you off. The EAPE NEEDS me. So... so what if I go?"

I shook my head, and I was handed back control. "It... hurts..." I squeaked. Jess stumbled over to me and hugged me. She kissed me on the forehead. Ross and Max came over snd we had a group hug. Soon enough everyone managed to join in. I smiled. It wasn't a friendly one, but thankfully no-one noticed. "I... I think I need some time alone," I said. Everyone left. I went and locked the door behind them slowly so that it clicked quietly. I grinned. 'Shelby, you're a natural at this!'

'I understand why you enjoy this so much.'

'People are always scared to go evil because they don't know what it entails. Shelby, I've never stumbled across your angels. You don't have any.'
