"Liberty High, welcome back."

"You look more like you need vacation, not a new school year", Bryce comments the look on his best friend's face when him, Justin and the tall girl get in his car. After a long night, the girl is still tired and puts her sunglasses on. "Well, maybe we shouldn't have thrown a party on a Sunday", the boys hear her grumble. "Maybe you shouldn't have made that bet with Monty yesterday", Justin jokes and Elizabeth lays against his chest. "He knows I'm too proud to let him say he can drink more than I do. Why does he have to be so daring?" The girl groans and decides to play with Justin hands while she is still figuring out how she would survive the first day of school hungover. "It's Monty."

"Welcome back, Liberty High." About ten minutes later, when they arrive at school, the girl is still tired from yesterday's party and doesn't look amused when Montgomery de la Cruz joins them. The boys and girls love to mock each other but this time, she is clearly not in the mood for his jokes. Before the tanned boy can say a word, she raises her sunglasses and gives him an annoyed look. „What? Had too much to drink yesterday?" "How can you even be alive?" "I've told you, you wouldn't beat me." 

"Don't listen to him, he gave every second drink to Bryce", Justin tells her and gives his girl a kiss on her cheek. Finally, she understands how Montgomery was able to seem sober for so many hours although they were drinking a lot. "Can we just get back and into the pool?", the girl asks pretending to be huffy and lays my arms around Justin. "Nice try but you're the one who wants to keep your A's", Justin replies before they finally enter school again.

"Whe've got three new students", Sheri Holland informs her friends during lunch break after she had seen them in the secretary, "A boy and two girls. Alex, Hannah, Jessica." "Party material?", Monty asks quickly. "Do you actually use your brain to think or just your dick?", his best friend jokes. Elizabeth Lennox has without a doubt always been his best friend. Sometimes they compare themselves to Justin and Bryce although all of them are close to one another. Their group isn't big, but they knew they could trust each other. "You better be quiet. You've got Justin here and I need to find someone new each week." "Yeah but don't you think that you should just settle then?", Sheri questions and the boys laugh, "Anyways, they seem nice so don't be an ass."

When Liz walks out of her last class, she sees Clay Jensen talking to one of the new girls and decides to welcome her. "Hey, Clay, who do we have here? New student?" The shy boy seems surprised about her asking but the new girl tries to find new friends so she's open minded and offers Liberty's angel her hand. "Yes, I'm the new girl. Hannah." 

The other girls looks at her hand first but pulls Hannah into a hug. "We're not having a job interview, Han. I'm Elizabeth Lennox but you can call me Liz." "Clay said you are one of the cool kids", Hannah exposes Clay smiling at her which amuses Liz. Mocking Clay is just too easy and fun to her. "I didn't say-" "No, your exact words were ‚she's Liberty's angel'", Hannah goes on and Liz chuckles. "Oh, Clay, he's sweet. Why did you move here?" 

"I'm standing right next to you", Clay mumbles next to the girls but they focus on each other now. No matter what happened in Hannah's past, she had decided to open up to have a good time at her new school. "I just changed schools.." "Oh, they bullied you there?", the older girl asks bluntly, already regretting the way she's asked. Whenever someone ‚just' change schools, it has to do with being bullied or not feeling comfortable. 

"Liz!" Clay tries to defend Hannah but the girl doesn't reply anyways. Looks like she doesn't want to talk about it so there won't be any further questions. "Sorry, I didn't mean to rub it in. But you can talk to me whenever", Liz offered, her lips formed to a warm smile. „Where even is your entourage? You're alone for so long? Where's Montgomery?" "Ha ha", Liz replies rolling my eyes, "He's not glued to my side you know." 

"Who's not glued to your side? Jeff?", Monty speaks up and lays his arm around his best friend's shoulder, "Who are they?" "Speaking of the devil", Clay mutters so Monty doesn't hear it. If there is one thing that Clay was trying to avoid, it's a fight with people like Montgomery de la Cruz. "Monts, that's Clay, he went to middle school and high school with us. And that's Hannah, she's new. Be nice to her. Hannah, that's Monty." "Are you dating?"

Monty and I look at each other and laugh. Even Clay smiles trying to hide a laugh. "I'm in the friend zone." "No, you're not. You're just my best friend." "That's exactly what friendzone means", Monty complains and I roll my eyes again. "We've always been just friends. I can't friendzone someone who's only a friend if both of them know it. If I did the same with Jeff, that would be a friendzone because we're clearly not just friends." 

"But right now, you're just friends, right?", Clay asks confused. "Yeah, or did he say something else?" Elizabeth knows that Clay tutors her ex-boyfriend and hopes that she might find out what Jeff is saying about her, if he even talks about her at all. "He mentioned Justin last time." "See, he's jealous", Monty concludes but before the girl would get high hopes, she acts like she hasn't heard what her best friend said. "Boys, you're confusing Hannah. Let's just say we're all just friends, thanks. Why did you even come here, Monty?" 

"Bryce wanted to ask you something and I just like to annoy you." "Okay, let's go back. It was great meeting you Hannah. I hope to see you around." "Actually, I'm throwing a party on Friday.. something like a party for new beginnings. You're invited." "A party?", Monty pricks up his ears. The boy loved a good party. "You can bring friends if you want to." "Thank you, Hannah, I'll see you on Friday." "Bye Hannah, bye Cory."
