chapter 11 : Blaise

I smiled as Millicent made her way over to me. I don’t know why I hadn’t noticed before the summer holiday how awesome she actually was. If so, I probably would’ve shagged her before then, big boned or not. I can’t say that I actually look at people; it’s one of the many things I’m trying to work on.

“Hey, you,” I said, kissing her on the cheek, “Where have you been?”

She smiled. “With Pansy. Where else would I be? We have a problem that needs to be fixed or have you not heard?”

“A problem? Are you talking about Draco seeing some besides Pansy?” I smirked.

“It’s a major problem. We both know that they belong together, have since they first got together last year. You said so yourself.”

“Yes, but that was last year. Things have changed since then,” I said, sitting on the couch in the common room.

She sat down next to me and I put my arm around her. “What has changed? They’re still the same couple that they were last year with the whole on and off thing. Since they always get back together, that’s a sign that they belong together.”

“Well,” I said, stroking her shoulder and looking her in the eyes, “I would appreciate it if you stayed out of this problem, as you call it. It’s their business, not ours.”

“She’s my best friend. She needs me right now!”

“Then be there for her, don’t get into it,” I advised.

She crossed her arms. “I can do whatever I want. You are not my boss, Blaise.”

“I was just giving you advice.”

“Besides, I know that you’re helping Draco. You were covering up for him!” She turned the situation around on me.

I paused, “Are you serious? I’m just letting him do what he wants. He’s a free man for Pete’s sake!”

“That’s his fault, he shouldn’t have hit her,” she states.

I jump up off the couch with a scream. “No, he didn’t!”

“Are you calling my best mate a liar?” she asked, standing up on her knees so that she came up to my chest.

I nodded. “We both now she’s a fraud.”

“How can you say that? Pansy is not a liar! I should know. I’m her best mate.”

“You know what? I’m not going to stand here and argue with you. I’m going to go cool off. I’ll see you later,” I said, making my way out of the common room.

“Oh, yeah? Well, I think we should break up!” she called after me.

I turned to her and looked her straight in the eyes. “Milli, this argument, this situation, has absolutely nothing to do with us and everything with them. Let’s not let it break us apart. Okay? We’ll talk once we’ve cooled off.”

She shook her head. “I want out. If you are just going to take his side, then we’re going to have plenty of arguments. Let’s just take a break. I feel like I’m suffocating!”

“Suffocating?! How the hell are you suffocating?!”

She shook her head as tears left her eyes, “I just am! Now, just leave. We are over!”

I slammed my fist against the wall. “Fine, if that’s what you truly want! Just so you know, we will never be again. Last chance,” I screamed getting right in her face, hoping that she would say that it was just a slip of the tongue that she really did want me.

She shook her head. “We’re over forever then.”

I stomped out of the common room and into the dungeons. How could she let this happen? How could she let something like this get between us so easily? That was the first fight that we ever had, but it certainly was not the last.

“Blaise?” Draco asked when I just about ran him over after turning the corner, “Are you alright?”

“Just had a fight with, Millicent is all.”

“Oh? What happened?”

I sighed. “We broke up.”

“Bad luck, man.”

“There’s something you should know. Pansy knows about Hanna.”

His eyes widened. “How? Did you tell her?”

I shook my head. “She followed you out last night and saw you two having your nightly date. She was pissed. Millicent says it’s now a problem, so they have something up their sleeves. Warn your girl.”

He nodded. “I will. Thanks for the heads up.”

“No problem,” I said, going for a walk.

I ended up in the court yard, sitting on my favorite bench. I went there a lot in the year before to think a lot of things over. Umbridge, my parents divorcing, and much more. Fifth year was so messed up for me. Now, it looks like sixth year just might go the same, and we’re only two weeks into the year! Gosh, this is going to be fun with Draco seeing someone outside of Slytherin, and me not with anyone.

Speaking of Draco seeing someone outside of Slytherin, I should get to know this girl, find out if she has any luggage that Draco needs a head’s up about. How could I do that though? It’s not as if something like that is going to come falling straight into my lap.
