Minnow curled up into a ball. She sobbed her eyes out. It was mean to kill other wolves for no reason. But I do have a reason. I have to protect my family. I have to protect my pack. She fell asleep with this thought circling in her head. What she didn't know is that the wolf that her no-furs locked away was starting to escape.

"Hey Minnow! Time to get up!"

She blinked a few times. She didn't realize that her one hour nap turned into a seven-hour nap. She stretched. Her muscles weren't as sore as she thought it would be. Getting up she padded out of the cave.

"Morning."

"Morning. You ready for some more training?" Blowing Wind looked at her with soft eyes. "It's ok if you're not. You're not used to fighting."

"Well, that's good because I am. I won't be soft like I was yesterday. I have to be strong. I have to protect you and Freezing Rain."

Blowing Wind blinked. What was the strange creature that took over Minnow? Was she becoming a wolf? Did the wolf break free?

"What made you change your mind?"

"I realized that I did have something to fight for. I'm not going to be killing for no reason. I will be fighting for you and Freezing Rain."

"Well, I'm glad you figured that out." Blowing Wind walked back into the cave. "Freezing Rain-sweetest- you have to get up and help train with Minnow."

He didn't hear or see anything. He started to pad into the cave when he felt a heavy weight on him. He unsheathed his claws and started to claw at what was on top of him. Using the muscles in his forepaws he heaved the animal off. He stood there growling, hackles raised.

"Who attacked me?" He heard whimpering. It sounded familiar. He turned to see Freezing Rain covered in scratches. "Oh, gods! I'm so sorry! What can I do to help you?"

Freezing Rain laid down. Whimpering she said "Cobwebs. Get cobwebs to stop the bleeding." Blowing Wind looked towards Minnow. "Don't just stand there get the cobwebs!"

Minnow nodded and ran off to find cobwebs. While she did that Blowing Wind stood by Freezing Rain's side. "I didn't mean to hurt you. I swear to the gods on my life I didn't." Freezing Rain smiled. She knew he would never hurt her. She was trying to show Minnow what a good tactic was. She never meant to startle Blowing Wind.

"It's ok. It was my fault. I should've told you what I was planning. That way you would've known and sheathed your claws." Just then Minnow came back with cobwebs in her mouth and paws. "What should I do now?"

Freezing Rain heaved a sigh of embarrassment. It wasn't that hard to figure out. "Put them on all of my wounds. Why else would I want them? To eat?"

Minnow blushed. She immediately started to place them on each of her wounds.

Freezing Rain looked at what she was doing. "Push them hard. They are meant to stop the bleeding. "

Minnow did as she was told. Something was nagging her at the back of her mind. How would wolves know this? Was it instinctual or did they learn it over times?

"So....how do you know this?"

"Um let's see I've been hurt before. I had to learn how to take care of wounds or die from blood loss. It would be kinda embarrassing if I died from tripping into a bunch of cactuses don't you think?"

"Yeah. So now what do I do?"

"Nothing. Now I just needed to rest. You and Blowing Wind can train. I can direct you, or Blowing Wind can attack you and direct you if you want."

"Hmmm. Can Blowing Wind attack and direct me?"

Blowing Wind took this as his cue to go into the arena. "Sure I can do that. Come here."

Minnow padded into the arena. "Now attack me however you want."

Minnow dived and started to attack his belly. Blowing Wind dodged and grabbed her by the scruff. She went limp. Blowing Wind dropped her and started to attack her-gently with claws sheathed.

"Always get up quickly. Your enemy will want to survive too so they will be quick on their feet."

Minnow twisted around and jumped onto Blowing Wind's back. He felt her start to paw at his back. He twisted and fell onto his back, with his belly exposed. Minnow jumped off at the last second. Blowing Wind jumped to feet.

"Good. Now you have to predict their next move. That way you'll be prepared." Blowing Wind went into the forest. He lifted his nose towards the sky and howled at different pitches. Minnow cocked her ears. She tried to decide where Blowing Wind was. With her back towards where he really was, he jumped.

"You can't just stand in one area. You have to move. Turning around. In most cases, if you hear multiple different pitches it's one wolf trying to distract you."

Minnow turned around and started attack Blowing Wind. Seeing his leg muscles twitching she moved in sync with him. Except doing the opposite. If he went forward, she went backward. If he went to his right, she went to her left. Blowing Wind smiled. He was glad that the inner wolf in Minnow was coming out.

"Good! Don't ignore the wolf inside you! It's who you are! Force it out!" With that Minnow howled as loud as she could. Her pupils got bigger and rounder. She snarled with as much ferocity as she could. Blowing Wind heard her claws unsheath.

"Ok. Not that much. Calm the wolf down a little bit Minnow. You can't let it all the way out if we're training ok?"

Minnow's claws sheathed again, but she still charged towards Blowing Wind and jumped on top of him. Fake clawing and biting at him. Letting the wolf inside her take over her muscles. Her tameness disappeared. She was no longer the scared pup, but a ferocious wolf. Blowing Wind chuckled.

"Ok. Calm down. Training is over for today." Minnow jumped off. Imagining the wolf being locked up she choked down the howl that was forcing its way out of her throat. She took a final deepening breath. Locking up the wolf tight.

"Good?"

"Yeah. Letting the wolf out felt really good."

"It did?"

"Yeah. It's like all that time keeping something locked up was really bad for me. I was tensing up every time I came close to letting it out. I could've had a better time letting it out."
"I'm glad you feel like that. Now, whenever we go into battle let out the wolf. You've proven to be a really good fighter if you let it out."

They both padded over to Freezing Rain who was staring at them grinning. She shakily stood up.

"Oh, my gods! You're getting to be such a great fighter! Please don't stop!"

Minnow smiled, glad that someone noticed that she is better than they think.

"Thanks." She noticed she was trying to get up. "No! Don't get up. Lay down. Relax. You're hurt. You should try to rest as much as you can."

Freezing Rain slowly laid down. She didn't need anyone to tell her twice. Her wounds hurt like the gods threw a lightning bolt at her. Freezing Rain didn't want to get up, but she liked the attention. She was not afraid to admit it. Being on your own that long can make you yearn for attention to the point where's it's unhealthy.

"But I want to walk to the cave." She looked down and smiled.

"Blowing Wind and I will help you. Lean on us." Minnow went over to one side of Freezing Rain, and Blowing Wind went to the other side. Blowing Wind looked over to Freezing Rain and saw her grinning.

" You can walk!" He backed up, and Minnow kept walking. Freezing Rain trailing behind.

"See told you! Don't ask for help if you can do it."

Freezing Rain stopped. Minnow looked at her. "What's wrong?"

"I lied to you. I don't need help walking. I can easily do it."

Minnow gawked at her. "Why would you do that?"

"Because I liked the attention."

Minnow glared at her. She was so upset that Freezing Rain would do that. Why would she do such a thing? I'm not her slave. Yes, I'm worried about her. That doesn't mean she could've made me her slave.

"Why did you do that?" Minnow snarled. Her claws unsheathed. Her eyes rounded out. With a growl, she jumped onto Freezing Rain.

"Minnow! Calm down! She's hurt enough!" Blowing Wind ran over to Minnow. He grabbed Minnow and pulled her off of Freezing Rain. He put her down and she immediately ran and jumped back on Freezing Rain. Blowing Wind sighed. Pulling her off again, he held her until he felt her calm down. He dropped her.

"You calm?"

"Yeah."

"You have to keep that wolf under control."
"I know. I'm so sorry about flipping out like that. I just got mad that Freezing Rain would use me so."

"I know. I'm upset that she used me too, but that doesn't mean I can attack her. Especially with her as weak as she is right now."

"I'm sorry. To you and Freezing Rain. The wolf inside me is really strong. Stronger now that it knows that it can come out."

"How about this, if you feel it coming out, howl and stand still. Try and fight it as much as you can. If you howl, we will know it's starting to come out and we can take you away from the situation. Ok?"

Minnow nodded. Ashamed of what happened. Even if it was one thing she didn't know how to control. I need to get this thing under control. I can mortally hurt someone if I let it come out and take control.

Minnow tucked her tail between her legs. She whined. Blowing Wind relaxed his shoulders and walked over to Minnow. He knew that she was really upset about hurting her best friend.

"Hey. Don't be upset you just have to keep that wolf in check ok?"

"Yeah."

She walked away slowly. Her paws crunching in the leaves. Minnow's eyes started to tear up. She hurried back into the cave before the waterworks began. Once she got in, she ran to the very back of the cave. Just then the tears came.

Blowing Wind watched her leave. He was very upset with how upset she was. Minnow didn't deserve to be as upset as she was. It was a mistake, that she obviously didn't like. Just then he raised his muzzle to the sky and howled as low and loud as he could. Freezing Rain noticed what he was doing, and knew why he was so upset. She joined in.

Back in the cave, Minnow heard the howls. She stopped sobbing and heard the message underneath. "Minnow. Don't be upset. You are forgiven. And you are not alone." Minnow sniffled. She knew that she really upset both Freezing Rain and Blowing Wind. That just made her more upset.

Blowing Wind and Freezing Rain lowered their muzzles. They hoped Minnow heard their message. Slowly the walked to the cave. Tails entwined.

Blowing Wind entered the cave first. He knew that seeing the new scratches on Freezing Rain would make Minnow very upset.

"Minnow? You ok?"

He heard sniffles from inside the cave. "Yeah."

He chuckled to himself. "I doubt it. You're still crying."

He walked into the cave. He knew that any fast movements or wing beats could make her really scared. She was very vulnerable in this state. She hurt someone she loved. Anyone would be beyond upset if they did something like that. He had to show her that all was good. And that she was forgiven. He had a feeling she didn't believe it.

(A/N I hope that you have enjoyed the story so far! The next one should be coming out soon! I will see all you wolves...in the skies!)
