He heard the sniffling stop. "You ok? And don't say yes. It was rhetorical. I know you're not."
Minnow laughed quietly. "How'd you know?"
"Hm. Let's think. You ran away into the cave and found the deepest darkest corner to hide in. That's not normal Minnow behavior."
"Why did you come find me?"
"Because I have a feeling you don't believe that you're forgiven."
"I can't be forgiven! What I did was unforgivable! I hurt Freezing Rain even more! I can't forgive myself for what I did."
Blowing Wind gave her his most sympathetic look he could. He knew that this little pup blamed herself for Freezing Rain's mistake. Though it couldn't be helped. Wolves never really associate themselves with no-fur pups. The stench of no-furs is disgusting. And it's overwhelming for the pups.
"Hey. We've never dealt with pups like you. Most pups are wolves. They don't have locked up wolves inside of them. Their wolves are already out of the cage. We don't know what will happen if you get too mad or upset. It's not your fault you hurt her. It's hers for making you that mad ok?"
Minnow nodded. She wasn't sure of what Blowing Wind was saying was true or not. He could be lying to her face just to cheer her up. She laid down and whined. She couldn't believe anyone right now. What she did was beyond cruel. It was villainous. What she did was so bad that only a villain would do. She couldn't get any worse than that.
"Sure."
Blowing Wind heard hesitancy in her voice. He didn't believe her. She probably doesn't believe me either. She probably thinks I'm telling her lies.
"Hey. I'm telling the truth here. Do you trust me? Do you trust me to always tell the truth?"
Minnow looked up into his eyes. "I can actually answer that with a yes. I do trust you. I will always trust you. You're like my dad."
Blowing Wind started to tear up. I can't believe it. She called me her dad! To him, he thought that he was the least likely to be dead. He was a weird flying wolf that learned how to fly five thousand one hundred ten suns ago. Mainly the weirdest thing about him was the fact that he had wings! I mean what animal besides birds have wings? None! That's why he was so weird.
"I'm glad that you think of me like that. You don't know how much it warms my heart to hear it. Freezing Rain would be so happy to hear that you are getting accustomed to us so quickly!"
Minnow blushed. She couldn't believe that she said such a sappy thing. There couldn't be anything sappier. "Really? Are you trying to embarrass me?" Blowing Wind creased his eyebrows. Like he said he had no idea on parenting, so he didn't know how to really take care of her. Besides she was actually full grown. She just didn't have the necessary skills that are needed to live in the wild.
"I'm sorry. I don't mean to embarrass you. Don't forget, I'm just like you. I'm in the exact same position. I'm just older."
Minnow turned her head. She didn't know that Blowing Wind was going through the same thing she was. Minnow thought that Blowing Wind was just like Freezing Rain, some wolf who knew everything there was to know about being a wolf. A flying wolf at that. Just then a thought hit her.
"Hey, has Freezing Rain taught you how to do maneuvers in the air?"
"No." Blowing Wind gave her a very confused look. "I don't even think she knows any. Do you?"
"A little bit. Most of them come from living so close to the machines that fly."
"Hm. There are advantages to living and seeing the machines that no furs made."
"Yup. So maybe I could teach you some at some point?"
"Sure, but now we have to get out of the cave. Freezing Rain is bound to be very worried."
Blowing Wind padded out of the cave, with Minnow hugging his back legs with her side. When he felt her on his leg, he smiled. Blowing Wind knew that he and Minnow had made a very deep bond that nothing could tear apart, yet he knew that it was nothing like his and Freezing Rain bond. It was more like a child and parent bond. He was very glad that he was able to make Minnow feel better. Getting a bond with her was a bonus. He didn't expect her to react the way she did. Blowing Wind got to the mouth of the cave and blinked his eyes a few times to let them readjust to the sudden brightness after being in the dark cave for a long time. Minnow bounded up behind him.
Freezing Rain heard their footsteps and turned. Minnow shrank against Blowing Wind's back leg. Freezing Rain noticed and gave her a caring look. She knew what it was to be a pup who didn't know what it was like to live in the wild. She knew what it was like to not know her place in the world.
"Minnow. Don't worry. It was wrong of me to use you guys. In hindsight, I shouldn't have done that." Freezing Rain apologized. "Remember when we had first met and I told you to put your claws into my back to hold on better? I told you that I could handle scratches and such. I've had my fair share of fights. I've had to kill my fair share of wolves. Especially at a young age. Just know that you can scratch me, but unless it kills me I can walk it off. In the forest, you learn that injuries may be injuries, but they shouldn't weaken you. They should make you stronger."
Minnow nodded. She had guessed at this but living with the no furs you never actually learn it. They pamper you so much. If you get the slightest scratch they immediately start bandaging you up. Pampering you. If you have the slightest cough, they take you to the medicine no fur. Going there wasn't always fun and games, however. She remembered going there quite a bit and having a cone on her head for weeks after. She never knew why she had to wear it. Giszel never had to whenever she went to the medicine no fur.
Freezing Rain had continued while she was contemplating this. Suddenly Minnow saw a paw waving in front of her face. "Yoo-hoo! Anybody there!" Minnow blinked then shook her head. "Yeah, sorry. Just thinking."
"About what?"
"Things."
"That's not very informative. Well anyway, I was saying that I will help train you for this. Every now and then we will fight with unsheathed claws. Training will happen every day from now on."
Blowing Wind butted in, "Her wolf has been coming out Rain. I think if we practice enough, it will come out fully."
Freezing Rain smiled. "I'm proud of you Minnow. Keep working, but also don't use it to attack us. We may piss you off, but that's just what family does. Don't kill us ok?"
Minnow laughed. "I'll be sure not too." Freezing Rain rubbed her cheek against Minnow's. Minnow then licked Freezing Rain's lower jaw. Blowing Wind put his front paws on either side of Minnow's shoulders like he was giving her a hug. Minnow smiled. Blowing Wind and Freezing Rain backed up. They knew that they had to feel like she belonged otherwise she might just back out again, and they really didn't want to have to track her back after that whole ordeal last time. Freezing Rain looked up at the sky and saw that the sun was dwindling on the horizon. "Who wants to go hunting with me?"

Freezing Rain, Blowing Wind, and Minnow laid down. Minnow groaned. "I feel so full..." Blowing Wind laughed. The gravelly laugh echoed throughout the clearing. Freezing Rain shook her head and rolled her eyes. She couldn't believe how easily amused he was. She sighed then rolled up next to him. Blowing Wind looked down, concerned. "What's the matter Rain?" She smiled a little bit when he said "Rain". It's like he hadn't seen her aggressive nature and didn't realize that's why she was called "Freezing Rain" She then looked up at him. "Nothing. I'm just happy that we are all together again." Blowing Wind leaned down a placed a soft kiss on her lips. Freezing Rain used her tail to search for his and then wrapped it around her own. Minnow curled up next to Freezing Rain. She was proud to be in the pack. She glanced at Freezing Rain, a question burning in her eyes. "So...Freezing Rain...?" Freezing Rain glanced back. "Yes?"
"Why do you have powers and Blowing Wind doesn't?"
"I think it's because I'm a natural born wolf and Blowing Wind isn't. Beyond that, I have no absolutely no clue. Flying wolves are very rare. I still can't wrap my head around the fact that there are more flying wolves than just me and Blowing Wind blows my mind."
Blowing Wind gently pushed her. "Well, just think about it Rain. If you are a natural born flying wolf one of your parents had to be one otherwise you wouldn't have wings." Freezing Rain nodded her head. It made sense.
"True. Thing is I really don't know my dad so what if he also had wings? I know my mom did."
Blowing Wind shrugged, "Maybe. Still, I know that at least ONE of your parents had to be a flying wolf."
Freezing Rain looked down. The force of the fact that she didn't know her dad hit her hard. What was he like? Would he have accepted me even though I have wings? Would he have told my mom off for making me leave the pack? Then Freezing Rain's thoughts wandered over to her mom. Why did she do such a thing? Why did she even join a wingless wolf pack? Was she a lone wolf that was forced to join a pack just for the fact of survival? Her thoughts then veered off the topic of her family. Are there more wolves like me? Do they all have the powers that I do, or am I just an oddity? I want to fit in somewhere. Is that even possible? Blowing Wind looked over to see her contemplating something. He nudged her. "What are you thinking about?"
"Everything. My dad, my mom, flying wolves in general."
"Don't worry yourself with such thoughts. The world works in mysterious ways. We really can't hope of figuring it out. Just trust the Gods ok? Just trust that they are there for you and will help you out. All of this happened for a reason. Just know that it will work itself out in the end."
Freezing Rain just simply shrugged. These thoughts have been plaguing her for a good while. She sent a prayer up to the Gods, Please let things get better. I just want to be happy and with the wolves who love me.
(A/N So sorry that it came out so late and that it's so short. My mind is everywhere with trying to keep up in high school so sometimes I can't get any ideas as to what to write. If you want you can help me by suggesting things in the comments. If you liked this part give it a big gold star! Thank you for reading and I'll see you wolves in the skies!)
