It was noon, Gidget was chatting with Max through the open window. Duke lay in his bed with his paws over his ears.

"I swear I'll bite off my ears if you two keep talking," he grumbled. Neither of the dogs noticed his complaint.

"I'm getting a fur cut tomorrow. My owners want it short." she finished. 

"But I think you look cute just as you are now- er... I mean humans think you look adorable!" Max woofed hurriedly, "So, is that bed of yours comfy?" he tried to change the subject but Gidget didn't hear the last part.

"Aww... Thanks, Max!" she yipped with joy. She felt flattered. "So... do you want to go out and eat something later?" Gidget continued. Her eyes were darting around anywhere but at Max. The skin under her fur was warm, she was blushing. 

"Sure! But where are we going to eat?" Max grinned and wagged his tail happily. His ears were turned towards Gidget.

"Oooh." Duke sang like a school kid that caught two people holding hands.

Gidget cleared her throat awkwardly but continued by saying, "I know a place that they let strays and wandering dogs eat. It's actually for dogs only. My owners took me there after they went on a..." she hesitated before saying, "date." The white-furred dog smiled awkwardly down at the brown-red and white canine.

"Okay. We can go whenever." Max replied shortly after. How does he sound so confident? I love him, she thought and spaced out after she admitted the love she felt.

"Gidget? What are you thinking about?" Max asked with a questioning look.

"Hm? Oh! I'm sorry," Gidget said, "We can go in about an hour?"

"That works for me! See you then," Max grinned and walked off into Katie's room. He leaped into a fresh-out-of-the-dryer basket of clothes, "I sure hope Katie won't be upset." The fresh scent of the garments would be perfect. 

Belly up, Max landed in the clothing and began rolling. His fur soaked in the friendly scent as he had hoped, but his loose fur had all gotten weaved into the cloth. He sniffed his two-toned coat after he'd tumbled out of the basket.

Quick chapter today because I just want to get something out. It's been forever, I know. I'm truly sorry. Once summer vacation starts, I'm hoping to get back into writing again seeing as my grammar has improved tremendously.
