Detention on a Saturday

The Red Ronin lied on her stomach as she hung half of her body from the bed. She was exhausted due to her continuous attending of school through the whole week. However, academics did not stop her from doing her obligation as a gang leader. Even without her sword, Ronin can still put on a fight that made her members admire her even more.

"Ronin-san, it's time for breakfast. Remember you promised Tamotsu-san that you'll help out in his shop today?" Kohaku entered Ronin's dominion without even knocking or asking permission which she got used to by now. Though there are times he'd walk in with her changing that would always give him a bruise or a bump at the face.

Shina buried her face on her pillow as a loud groan escaped her throat, with her whining like a child. "Damn Tamotsu. Can't he manage on his own?" she complained, tumbled in her cradle getting comfortable in her soft sheets. "Rather, didn't Raiden go there?"

"Raiden-san was ordered by Gina-san to go to the market to shop" answered the young boy who was cleaning up the girl's chamber by stacking her dirty clothes in the laundry basket and her school stuff orderly placing it on her desk. "C'mon Ronin-san. We have so much work to do this weekend"

Dammit. And I promised I'd visit mom's grave. Shina's creased her eyebrows and got out of bed. "Tch. Tell him I can't come, I have plans for today" she commanded her follower and head towards the bathroom to take a shower.

In the meantime, Kohaku draw up her attire for the day and readied the food she was going to eat for breakfast at the table. As the Ronin was done showering, she exited the bathroom and saw what Kohaku has prepared for her to wear. She was mortified after seeing her clothing and went downstairs-only wearing a towel around her body-to confront why Kohaku would choose such a thing.

"Kohaku! Why would choose a damn skirt for me to dress in?!" hollered Shina out of exasperation. She marched her way to grab Kohaku on his collar, ignoring the fact that only a towel covered her skin. It was obvious that Kohaku was unstable in talking to her, as showed by the blush covering his cheeks and the way he stuttered when his leader rebuked him.

"Ro-Ronin-san! So-Sorry but...!"

"But what?!"

Shina glared at the poor boy before hearing a dog whistle coming from someone who just entered. She glanced over the door where Raiden leaned on the frame while smirking widely. "Yo, boss. Don't you think you should cover up that body of yours before we proceed in discussing something?" he snickered, throwing a jacket at Shina for her to cover her frame.

The Ronin caught up the clothing that was thrown to her only to throw it back. "No thanks" slowly, she unwrapped the towel while the panicking Kohaku covered his eyes to avoid malice that Shina was actually stripping in front of him. "I'm good" throwing the towel on her shoulder, Raiden snorted seeing her wear girl boxers and a bandage swathed her chest.

"You really don't like panties, do you?" the skinny man sighed, entering the kitchen and got himself a bottle of bear early in the morning.

"Scratch that, I hate them" Shina corrected drying her hair with the towel.

"Ronin-san please tell me what I heard is right" Kohaku still shielded his eyes from looking at the swordswoman.

"Kohaku relax. I'm not that of an undignified woman" Shina rolled her eyes in a gall manner that Kohaku thought she was annoyed with him again. He muttered an apology before disappearing outside to check on the fish he was grilling for breakfast while Raiden sat on the stool counter.

"Either way, you should really cover up some skin, boss" Raiden advised glancing out the window and stared at the fence. "We don't want those injured adding any further, now won't we?" Shina frowned at the hint on Raiden's voice that jogs a memory in her mind. Turning around, the Ronin went back upstairs quietly with Raiden's eyes set on her back that was covered with a large burn mark.

* * *

"Wait, why are you in your school uniform?" Raiden eyed Shina from head to toe after she finished dressing herself up. She ignored him and head straight outside where her motor awaited, Kohaku running after her with a lunch box in his hand. "That girl..." the skinny mind grumbled under his breath just as Gina came coming downstairs.

"Raiden, is Tomoe still around?" inquired the old wrinkly women, her legs wobbling as her feet reached down the cold floor. Tamotsu was just behind her, helping her stand on her ground. Her body was weak as a feather, and she was fragile like the thin glassware that displayed in their kitchen cupboards. Raiden offered to carry her up until the dining chair but she sharply repeated her question again. "Where is Tomoe?"

Raiden flinched on how Gina can be stern on him sometimes and gestured outside where Kohaku was stopping her from leaving.

"You haven't eaten breakfast yet Ronin-san! Please stay a bit longer!" pleaded the poor boy, blocking Shina's driveway.

"Where is she going?" Tamotsu wondered, glancing out the window, hearing the door open assuming that Raiden already came in the scene. The dyed haired gangster lifted up the gang leader at ease from her vehicle's seat, throwing her over his shoulders and carried her back inside as she fought out of Raiden's grip, kicking his guts and punching his broad back. He then settled her on the seat opposite to Gina's as one of their helpers; Nobuo placed a bowl of rice and some side dishes in front of them.

"Good morning, dear" Gina kindly greeted her granddaughter who inwardly frowned, trying to avoid eye contact. "I see you're up early. Where are you heading?" although ignored, Gina continued to try in conversing to the delinquent, Shina Tomoe. She sipped on her morning tea and judged by the garments her granddaughter wore, she predicted the girl was about to head to school.

"Tomoe, why are you wearing Karasuno's uniform? There are no classes today" Tamotsu was the next one to quiz the girl who was eating beside Gina. Raiden remained silent knowing his boss' purpose and waited for her to spill the beans. "Unless..."

"I got detention" the Ronin confessed, silently staring at her food.

Tamotsu almost spit the soup he was drinking and shot a look of disbelief at the girl. "Detention?!" he bellowed, his eyes widening and his mouth gaping. "It hasn't been 4 weeks! Actually it's only been one 2 weeks and you already got yourself in trouble!"

"I already told you it's impossible for me to avoid trouble. That's why I didn't want to attend school" Shina proclaimed. I'm sick of it already; I want to drop-out.

"I told you to try, didn't I?" Tamotsu retorts before groaning and run a hand through his orange dyed hair. "For fuck's sake. Gina, go scold her" the man walked out after getting stressed early in the morning. Shina was left with her only relative while Raiden dragged Kohaku out of the scene to go grill more food for their comrades.

The two Shina's sat there in silence until the older one spoke with a calm tone. "Can you tell me the reasons what got you into this?" she asked with a soft voice, looking at her son's daughter.

"I accidentally knocked of the dean's wig by elbowing his forehead while picking up a fight with a third-year" Shina admitted.

Gina sighed and knew that the red head girl before must've been hot-blooded during that time that the swordswoman wasn't able to control herself. "Tomoe..."

"I'm trying okay? If it's not enough then we should just forget all forget that this happened. I want to quit school already"

"Tomoe" Gina frowned on how her granddaughter gave up easily. She sighed and remembered when Shina was child, she was eager to go to school and make her parents proud. Nostalgia filled her weak heart but she knew she can't give up now that she finally made her granddaughter attend school. She closed her eyes dearly and held Shina's hand with her soft ones and caressed them. "Tomoe, I know it's hard on you in maintaining your position as Vindex's leader and a normal school girl-"

"You can't find normal in me" Shina cut off, staring icily at Gina.

The silver haired woman was hurt on the emotions that lack the swordswoman. Shina stared their hands together before pulling it back and stand up. "I'm going. Detention starts at seven" she announced as a complaining Tamotsu appeared again.

"And you were supposed to help at the shop today! God Tomoe!" he groaned, only to be ignored by the girl.

Shina exited the headquarters and rode on her vehicle as transportation to school. She didn't want the faculty members to see her motorcycle to avoid risks of it getting confiscated; he learned her lesson when her sword was seized by Takeda. Her hiding spot was right next to the club room and her route towards the main school building is was to pass by the volleyball gym.

She heard the squeaking of shoes and a few shouts coming from the building that made her confirm to her that the hell of volleyball team is having Saturday practice.

The swordswoman cruised around the hallways in hopes of finding her homeroom teacher, Fujita Ami or maybe Takeda, who was responsible for her enrollment in the school.

Successfully, her advisor caught sight of her as she was ready to jump out of the window (again) to leave since she can't see any teachers anywhere.

Fujita called her attention with the idea of the girl jumping as if wanting to commit suicide. Shina glanced at the adult and pulled herself back into the building. The teacher sighed in relief and pulled her student with her and into the classroom, 1-3.

The brown haired bob-cut brunette stared at the silent velvet head who was meekly sitting on the front seat of the classroom. "So then, Shina-san" she started by clearing her throat. "You are here in detention because of some rules you violated for the past... two weeks of your schooling in Karasuno. I am here to enlist them so that you know how serious they are" Fujita recited, looking at the papers of complaint filed against her. "First and foremost, you have been continuing to bring your motorcycle which is prohibited in the school grounds. You think hiding it behind the club room building would remain unnoticeable? But us teachers inspected the whole campus during class periods are ongoing. And we happen to discover its position"

Shina flinched and can imagine her vehicle being towed away. Fujita continued, "Second, knocking down the vase just near the faculty which cost thousands. It happened before, but you were one of the students who just had to knock down the dean's wig off while fighting with him. And that is your third offense"

I got in detention just by knocking off his wig? Shina thought.

"And last of all, bringing weapons such as this sword" Fujita picked up the long katana from the floor, and placed it on the teacher's desk. "Is strictly forbidden" she stated giving a stern stare at her student. Shina remained unfazed and didn't even look like she was sorry for her mistakes. The truth is: she meant to do all of that just to get expelled. But it seems Fujita has her eyes on her, and wouldn't allow the girl to get exiled from this school.

"Now for your punishment for today" Fujita says, standing up from her chair, confusing the girl.

"You're not gonna expel me?" wondered Shina curiously.

"No" Fujita plainly said. "You're just gonna do community service such as cleaning the campus and helping out clubs. And since the janitors just finished their cleaning yesterday, you'd be helping-"

"Of course, the volleyball club" Shina rolled her eyes as she and her adviser reached the gym where the players are practicing in front of them. Everyone paused at their sudden appearance, while Takeda froze in his spot after seeing his long time crush co-worker, Fujita Ami-sensei.

"Fu-Fujita-sensei! What brings you here?!" Takeda entertained their motive for today before Fujita explained everything.

"And I told you just call me Ami. No need to be so formal, Ittetsu" Fujita smiled at the blushing four-eyed man.

Shina rolled her eyes once again, wanting to puke. You adults can flirt, just not in front of me. She complained mentally. "Sensei, am I doing community service or not?" she asked her homeroom teacher, impatiently.

"Ah, right" Fujita says and asked Takeda if Shina can do anything to help their team.

"Well, I need someone to spike for me to practice our receiving" Ukai, the coach, spoke up, looking at the girl. He was impressed on her skills after watching her play with the boys last time. And Kageyama had mentioned before that they were partners in physical education with volleyball as their sport this semester. She was one of the physical gifted that could cope up with the king's toss. "Shina, can you spike for me?" asked the blonde adult, glancing at the girl who curtly nodded.

"It is community service" she mumbled.

"I have some papers to check in the meant time. Well then, can I leave her to you, Ittetsu?" Fujita asked Takeda who nodded his head before she could finish her question. She smiled gratefully and walked back to the classroom to finish her business.

"Alright! Get ready for my rolling thunder! I'll return ALL of your spikes!" proclaimed Nishinoya wildly, slapping his cheeks to wake himself up and make sure not to fall into his habitual daze. "Give me your best shot Ronin!" he challenged her.

Ronin clicked her tongue and that's when her sadistic side showed. "Fine, can I break your wrist then?"

"Don't break his wrist! We need him!" Ukai scolded her. She ignored the coach and did what she was asked to do, although her strength was uncontrollable. "Man, you can hit"

"I do punch people" Shina pointed out.

"Makes sense" Ukai shrugged. "Just don't injure my players, please?"

"Fine" Shina agreed.

The morning passed, and it reached lunch time. Ukai called for a break so all of his players went to get their own lunch boxes to fill in their hungry stomach that's been craving for food out of exhaustion.

Shina, who didn't even eat breakfast earlier, can hear her own stomach grumbling. Unfortunately, she wasn't the only one who heard it.

"Ronin, you seem hungry. Want a share of my lunch?" Noya took her side, showing her a box filled with onigiri. Of course hungry and embarrassedly shy, Shina didn't say anything and let her stomach do the talking. The libero laughed on how she's timid and assured there's nothing to be shy about. "You can have some, here" he shared his food with her.

Hesitantly, Shina went to grab a rice ball that was offered to her but when she saw her hand filthy, she retracted it and hid it in her pocket. "My hand is dirty..." she uttered.

Noya blinked at her and said: "Then put alcohol on it or a sanitizer. I think Kiyoko-san has some, I'll go ask" he says and was about to stand up when Shina pulled him back to his spot where they saw.

"It hurts my wounds" she admitted, removing her bandages and showed the swollen cut where she once spread some alcohol on. It hurt like hell. "I'll just not eat"

"Eh? But you're hungry! Just wash your hand!" Noya insisted. "There's a faucet at the back! Go rinse your hands!"

"Ts, stop nagging. You sound like Tamotsu" Shina sneered. "And he's homosexual, so he acts like a mom to me. I assume you're the same"

"Hey! I'm straight as a ruler!"

"There are some rulers that are bendable"

"Just what are you implying?!"

"Hey, Noya-san doesn't go kira kira anymore. And he's normally talking to Ronin" Hinata noticed, glancing at the two who was sending each other sasses.

"Why does he even talk to her? Isn't he afraid to get killed?" Tsukishima commented, drinking on his water bottle. Takeda, overhearing their conversation smiled and pushed up his glasses.

"You may not believe it, but Nishinoya-kun's been getting along pretty well with Shina-san these past 2 weeks" Takeda informed them, surprising all the players who gaped at their sensei.

"So, she doesn't try to kill him anymore?" Kageyama asked, blinking innocently. Takeda flinched. "Well, not actually. In other words, Nishinoya-kun keeps her in a leash"

"Like a dog?" Hinata wondered.

"Not literally, Hinata" Suga corrected.

"C'mon, let's just go. I know you want my mother's handmade onigiri" Nishinoya stood up from the floor and grabbed Shina's hands and led her outside where the faucets are. The volleyball player twisted the cap as water run down while Shina slowly removed her bandages from her arm, revealing her external unhealed scars. "Do you put some sort of treatment on those? They really look bad" Nishinoya stared at her arms.

Shina remained quiet and washed her hands under the water, rubbing them together to remove the filth she got from spiking dirty volleyballs. As she was finished, she and Noya went back to the gym, only to see Fujita, her homeroom teacher, peeking through the door, looking for someone.

"Fujita-sensei, are you looking for Take-chan?" Nishinoya asked.

Fujita turned around to see the two and smiled when she saw Shina. "Yes! I mean no-I was actually looking for Shina-san to give her this" the brunette woman handed her student a box covered with a handkerchief. "Your brother and grandma went here to give this to you. They said you haven't eaten breakfast yet so they filled your box with-"

"You've got to be kidding me..."

"Wow, that lunch set looks nice"

Nishinoya stared in awe at the perfect organized lunch Shina was given. Ronin frowned, knowing it was Tamotsu who made this for her, seeing that the box was cutely arranged. She hated it when he spoiled her like a little girl. She was about to throw the lunch when Fujita stopped her and scolded her.

"Shina-san! You better not dump that in the trash!" Fujita reprimanded. The girl flinched and glared at her adviser before going back inside the gym to walk away from her. "I swear; that girl doesn't know her ethics! Nishinoya-kun, please tell me if she does anything wrong again okay?" Fujita said, looking at the libero.

"Sure thing, sensei!" he saluted following the girl inside. He saw her staring at her untouched bento as he sat right next to her with his. "Don't you like side dishes?" he asked as she responded by shaking her head. "Then just eat the rice"

"It's not seasoned... and it's tasteless..." Shina reasoned quietly.

"Are you serious?"

He sighed, giving up and traded their lunch boxes, putting his pack of onigiri in her hands. "There, those are seasoned rice. If you don't want Tamotsu-san's cooking then I'll eat it" he declared, digging in. Shina didn't seem to mind. She loved onigiri though she tried her best not to show it to the male beside her. Tanaka noticed the lunch box in Nishinoya's hands and recognized Tamotsu's way of designing lunches. "How the heck did you know?"

"Oh, he added a new feature in his ramen shop. He's selling lunches there now"

"Why would he sell lunches in a ramen shop?"

"Because he's stupid"

The two players turned their heads to Shina who already finished Nishinoya's lunch making him chuckle. "Wow, you really liked my lunch didn't you?" he grinned only to be ignored by the girl.

"I'm going" Shina proclaimed, standing up and giving back Noya's empty container.

"Hey, but you haven't finished your duty here yet" Tanaka told her, following her figure head towards the door.

"It's the first part of my punishment. I'm going to clean the school grounds next" Shina informed him before slamming the door behind her with a force that made everyone flinch.

"Can't she close the door properly?" Tsukishima sighed.

"You know Tsukishima, if you continue talking to her like that, I wouldn't be surprised that you'll be in her list of people to get sliced" Sawamura told his underclassman who was nonchalant in getting cut into pieces. He sweat dropped and clapped his hands together, announcing that lunch is over.

"But I haven't finished my lunch!" Nishinoya complained to be ignored. He sighed and kept the two lunch boxes he had and blushed after realizing him and Ronin just exchanged lunch together.

In the meantime, Shina was doing her rounds around the campus when she heard a snapping of picture from behind the bushes. She grabbed her broom as a substitute for her sword and slammed it on the spot where she felt a presence. "Ow!" she heard a girl squeak as she raised her "weapon" to see who she hit. Upon recognizing, the twin braided tails of the black haired girl and those large red ocular glasses, she frowned realizing it was her stalker again.

"You again?" Shina gave a look of incredulity.
