Too many corpses for one day

Timothy tried to stay as calm as possible. He sat in his car on the parking lot of Briacliff. There were at least six police cars and several others he didn't know.

He took a deep breath and thought of Jude. He needed to be strong for her and their future. Timothy got out of the car and walked up the steps to the main entrance.

He wasn't prepared for the picture before him. Several nuns were crying, police men were running around with flashlights, searching for something or someone.

Before he could ask anyone about it, Father Malachi came towards him. "Monsignor Howard, it's good that you are here now, something awful happened last! You have to follow me, some detectives want to speak with you. We tried to reach you already".

"What happened here Father?" Timothy tried to appear clueless and he hoped that everything went according to plan. He didn't know if Leigh or Arden would still be alive?!

"Of course, monsignor. Please follow me."
He didn't want the nuns to hear what excactly happened.

"One of your patients, Leigh Emerson could flee last night out of his cell but the guards could stop him from leaving the building..." Timothy looked shocked at him, could it be possible that both are still alive?

They moved inside Judes old office. "I think it would be best if you sit down monsignor..." Timothy did as he was told, the next few minutes will decide about their future.

"Monsignor, I can only tell you what the police and the detectives found out already but we couldn't figure out every detail until now." Father Malachi stopped, it was difficult for him, after all, he did know Jude for years now and he knew that this could crush the priest himself. They have been friends for years.

"Leigh Emerson got keys for the cells, we don't know how but he was able to open every door in Briarcliff... What I'm going to tell you now is quite tough for me..." Malachi had tears in his eyes and Timothy prepared himself to react the same.

"Monsignor, you know that Emerson had a thing for Sister Jude... He obviously hated her for being the leader of this institution but he was kind of obsessed with her too. Well, it seems that he went to her cell in solutary last night." Father Malachi took a deep breath. The whole situation seemed to be too much for him, nothing like that had happened before.

"We can't find her. Her cell has been full of blood, Leigh Emersons cell too and they found her gown, ripped in one of the corners... The detectives think that she must be dead according to the amount of blood."

Timothy looked shocked at him. He tried to act as sincerely as possible. Father Malachi moved over towards him and layed his hand on Timothys shoulder. "They couldn't find her body but she was counted as the first victim."

"First victim?" He was relieved but played along quite well. "Yes Doctor Arden is the second victim... Leigh Emerson killed him with an scalpel. He stabbed him at least 50 times... No one can tell excactly how many times and he cut his throat to ensure his death. One of your guards were taking his round and shot Leigh Emerson but it was already too late, Arden was dead and the shots on Emerson were deadly too".

*It's now or never...* Timothy thought as he started to play the crushed priest who lost his believe in god after loosing two of his best friends. He even told Father Malachi that he loved Jude and has for years, it could be helpful to play his grief truthfully.

Jude was sleeping but she was moving wildly around the bed. She had several nightmares about Arden, Mary Eunice and Timothy as he let her alone in her cell the first night after Franks death. Frank... His death was awful. They had becoming friends while working together.

One thing was strange though. Why had she been friends with a guard? Timothy told her they have been friends too? Has she been a nurse in Briarcliff? That couldn't be possible, even the nurses are nuns...

Judy woke up with a scream. The last thing she dreamed about was the car accident with the girl... Missy...

Jude ran over to the toilet to vomit. Her past came rushing back and she was overwhelmed. Every painful year, every disgusting detail of her life. How could it be possible that she was such an awful human being?

She sat besides the toilet and cryed, how could Timothy even love her. She didn't kill Missy but she has been treatening the patients badly. She caned and mishandled them. Timothy didn't know much about it. He knew that she has been harsh but she couldn't believe that he knew about everything. Lana Winters for example.

She did it just for him. She didn't want the press to know about everything that happened behind the thick walls of Briacliff. She did it to protect him and this institution.

It was early morning and the sun were shining through the curtains. Jude washed her face and mouth and looked in the mirror. Could she make Timothy happy? Could they have a future together?

Everything he worked for... They worked for... She owed him a better life, a life without her, a life in church. He deserved to be cardinal or pope.

Jude wiped her tears away and made her decision. She would leave and Timothy will never see her again, he is supposed to stay in church and help people.

She took the new clothes and changed. He didn't left money but in the past she could survive without it too, somehow.

Jude turned around for the last time. This room should have been their first step in a new life...

She closed the door behind her and started to walk down the street, away from the motel and away from Timothy.

Timothy was driving to the motel. He couldn't wait to see Jude again. Everything went well. After telling Father Malachi about his love for her and how hurt he has been after they needed to commit her to Briarcliff, the old priest could understand how awful it must have been for him.

The father told him he could come back if he wished to but Timothy could only think of his beautiful wife... Well soon to be wife. He wasn't a priest anymore but still believed in god and everything that's written in the bible. He couldn't just live with a woman without marrying her.

Timothy searched the ring he bought an hour ago in his pocket, it was an beautiful golden diamond ring. He just hoped she would say yes, even if she couldn't remember her whole past and their time together.

He arrived at the motel and nearly ran towards their room, he was so happy and excited to see her again. As soon as he opened the door, Timothy knew something was terribly wrong.

The suitcase was open but her dress and coat were missing together with her new shoes. Would she buy something to eat? No, he bought enough and he didn't leave her any money.

His heart ached and tears started to form in his eyes... Could she leave him behind after everything he did for her? She said that she loved him... His stomach turned as he found a note on the little table.

Timothy started to read it and his tears fell on the paper... "Dear Timothy, I'm sorry but I have to leave. You're such an honorable man and I don't want to ruin your life. You deserve so much more than me and everything I could offer you. You worked so hard these past years and I don't want you to throw that away. Please don't believe that I am not thankfull for your help to free me because I am but our ways have to part now. Go back where you belong and serve god. Never forget that I love you... Judy.
