I laid in my bed, my first night away from home. In my new home. It was colder than I was used to and I hadn't put my posters up so I had nothing to stare at. I sighed and got up, knowing that I probably wasn't going to sleep at all. I opened the door to my room and walked out into the kitchen. I got a glass of water and leaned against the counter.

"Hey."

I jumped almost dropping my cup.

I heard Samuel laugh, he stepped out of the darkness in the living room. "Sorry I didn't mean to scare you."

"I'm sure you didn't." I glared at him.

"Why are you so mean? You used to be so happy. You were my sunshine, what happened?"

I put the glass down on the counter. "I grew up, found out how the world works."

"And how's that?" Samuel jumped up and sat on the counter.

"Nothing goes the way you want, and if it does there's always something wrong."

"Wow. I didn't think that I'd ever have to do this but.." He leaned in.

I stiffened up.

Samuel poked my cheek. "Lighten up Angel. The world's not so bad."

I smiled weakly. "I guess the rolls really have reversed."

"Yeah, I guess so.."
