Chapter 16: My girl
Mia's POV:
"Will you be my girlfriend?" Sam asked.
God, why do you hate me so much! At the most wonderful moment of my life, all I did was hiccup.
"Ye... hic."
I reached the supermarket. Sam was waiting outside. I got down and walked awkwardly. He grinned widely as he spotted me. For some reason, I felt shy to look at him. He walked towards me closing the distance.
Sam looked equally flushed as he said, "Plum."
I still kept my head down not looking at him.
"Look at me," he ordered huskily.
Sam was ordering me! But that was not the only surprising thing. I found myself following it.
I slowly looked up into his eyes. He held my gaze for a minute before asking, "You never answered my question. Will you be my girlfriend?"
I couldn't talk, this feeling was alien to me. I just nodded. His lips crashed on mine, he kissed me like his life depended on it. And, God that was how I felt too as I kissed him back.
"So what are we cooking?" I asked Sam.
"Chocolate waffles."
I squealed in delight, Sam kissed me in response. This was new to me but exciting.
"Shall I help?" I asked.
"Sure."
He cracked a few eggs before handing me the bowl, instructing me to beat it. I tried my best. But who I am kidding, I am a disaster when it comes to cooking. Somehow I managed to spill half the contents.
"Pumpkin, I do more harm than help," I said dejectedly.
Sam cheered me with a kiss. "Cheer up plum, I added a few extra eggs for such eventualities."
"Here, break this chocolate for me," he handed me the Kit Kat. I noticed this too was more than necessary. Sam knew me, I ate half the chocolates.
We made Kit Kat waffles and scrambled eggs. Well, mostly Sam made them.
"Something smells delicious," said Mr. Denty.
"It's delicious," I said, moaning as the taste hit the right nerve.
He leaned closer and asked, "Do I get a reward for my hard work?"
My cheeks grew hot. I could spend all day kissing Sam.
"We have decided to date," Sam said, holding my hand.
Wade looked shocked.
"Congrats," said Mr. Denty, spotting an I-knew-you-both-were-lying-before smile.
"You should both thank me," said Wade, recovering.
"What are you talking about?" I asked.
"Ignore him," Sam said.
"It's thanks to me that you both are dating," Wade said.
"As if," I scoffed.
"Hey I have been helping Sam, he was wussing to ask you out."
"Wade!" said Sam warningly
"What! You would have never admitted to loving her. It was more than two years and you didn't gather your courage."
Sam and I choked at the same time. Sam has been in love with me for more than two years! When I looked at him, he was red. Was he blushing?
After breakfast we all watched Netflix. But Sam and I were in our own bubble.
"You loved me for two years?" I whispered.
Sam nodded.
"Why didn't you tell me?"
"I was scared, I can't part with you, plum. I didn't want to jeopardise our friendship."
I climbed onto his lap and leaned on him. "Whatever happens, I can never stop being friends with you Sam. You are my home."
We kept staring at each other, he slowly cupped my face and kissed me. This kiss was full of love. He refused to let me down the whole movie.
"Is it always going to be like this?" I asked Sam.
Wade interrupted, "Obviously not, you are in the honeymoon phase. Trust me it will wear off soon."
"I wasn't talking to you. Why are you butting in our private conversation? Don't you have any shame?"
"Shame?! Says the one who is making out in the living room," Wade scoffed.
"Shut up."
"Sitting on his lap must be comfortable with all his fat to cushion."
Our wrestling began. But within minutes Sam pulled Wade apart and said, "Leave my girl alone."
My girl! I couldn't contain my happiness as I kissed Sam.
"Get a room," Wade scoffed, we both ignored him.
