Chapter 8 ~ Pathetic

You couldn't move.

Frozen on the spot, your breath was ragged, and your eyes resembled those of a deer in headlights.

You didn't know what to do. It's not like you could just act like he didn't see you. Especially when he was running towards you now. Wait. Running towards you?

Oh God...

"(Y/N)!"

The air was knocked out of you, as you were embraced in strong arms. You would never had fathomed that he would be so strong, either.

"I thought I would never see you again. I thought you left me. I knew you wouldn't do that, would you?"

You didn't know how to respond. The look of distress was evident on your flushed face. Yet, not one person thought to help you out. Nice friends you have there.

You were genuinely taken back by the drastic change in his stoic personality. The only time his face wasn't blank, was when you were going to that taxi's rescue.

You haven't known him long, but you could tell that his face was stoic on default.

Your awkwardly hugged him back, yet he didn't take it as awkward. Levi felt this electric feeling course through his veins, at the return of his affection.

Indeed, the "return" of his affection.

It had clicked in your mind that this guy wasn't right.

You couldn't point out the exact situation, but you would start with the bastard in the holding cell. It's been too long on the job not to know that you didn't want to piss Levi off.

"Alright, Levi. Let's sit down at my desk and figure all of this mess out. Okay?"

Levi nodded.

Levi's steel eyes roamed your form. His greedy gaze taking in every detail. His heart felt like it would stop if any more excitement was provoked. It took all of his will power not to just take (Y/n) somewhere where the world couldn't share her.

Levi's mind wandered off to such thoughts.

Sweet thoughts of having a life with (Y/n). Oh, how the both of you would sit in the backyard, watching the sun's golden rays turn a burning orange. How the light laughter of your beautiful children would play a melodious tune. It's the life he always wanted.

It's the life he would have.

"Levi?"

That divine voice brought him back to reality.

"What the fuck do you want?"

Immediately, he wanted to kick himself. His tone was harsh, but it wasn't your fault. You didn't know that he didn't want the swarm of thoughts to cease.

"So, once you sign these papers and turn in the money, we can release your father."

Your kind, (e/c) orbs looked into his. His face may not have held an expression, but Levi felt like one of those love struck idiots, in the shows. Then again he knew he did, indeed, love you.

Or so he thought. Over anything, he was obsessed with you.

Obsessed. Such an ugly word. Levi didn't like it. Not one bit.

"I'm not here to bail that scum out."

His face was full of disgust at the mere thought of aiding that man.

You made no attempt to cover the perplexed expression.

'Adorable.'

"Out of curiosity, why are you here?"

An exhausted sigh escaped his parted lips.

"I want to talk to him."

Your (h/c) tresses moved aside, as you shrugged. Standing, you motioned for him to follow you.

You couldn't help but feel the tension in the air. You were honestly petrified to let out a breath of air. You're a damn cop, and you've never been so fucking scarred. Levi Ackerman may as well be the definition of unnerving.

The crisp, white halls were silent, minus the light patter of the footsteps you and Levi caused.

As if things couldn't get worse, you were pretty sure he was staring at your ass.

Not cool, man.

You would have told him something, if you weren't so set on getting this bastard out of here. Subconsciously, your pace quickened.

The steps halted, as you nodded towards the door. Waiting outside of the two sided mirror, was Hanji and Erwin. Hanji and Erwin were there, along with you, to monitor the conversation between the two.

"Mr. Ackerman, you can enter the room now, if you would like."

Levi didn't even spare a glance Erwin's way, as he gave those instructions. Instead, his eyes never left you.

It wasn't until he went to enter the room, that he looked away.

As soon as he shut the soundproof door, your head whipped the other's way.

Your eyes held a serious expression, as did your posture.

"We have to keep a close eye on him. I don't trust him."

You kept your hand on the silver knob, of the interrogation room. You were ready to bust in in a heartbeat.

Now sobering up, Mr. Ackerman held a look of great distress upon seeing Levi at the door. It was like a nightmare coming to life.

Levi sent a glare of raw hatred towards him.

After all, this was way worse than any possible nightmare.

"You just couldn't fucking help yourself? You just had to cause shit, like usual. Didn't you? You piece of trash."

Levi kicked the leg of the table with his black boot.

The sound of the black table wobbling, vibrated off of the dark gray walls. With nothing but the "mirror", his son, and the door, this looked like the place of Mr. Ackerman's demise.

Levi was done with all the torment and pain. He wanted him to feel what he has to every day. To feel like you can't do anything right.

Your hand went to turn the knob. You were ready to just get Levi away from him, but Erwin held his hand up.

"No Detective (L/n). Not yet."

Orders are orders. No matter how stupid.

"Yes sir."

Mr. Ackerman wanted to say something to try to calm Levi down, but he knew him saying something would only anger him more.

Levi walked right beside him. Actually having to lean down, in order to be in line with his ear.

"Are you scarred?"

His words were laced with a scorching anger. Even if in a soft whisper, it sounded like death, itself.

He knew he had to answer Levi's question. His tone gave that away. Yet, he couldn't bring his dry mouth to do the task.

"You should be."

Immediately, Levi pulled his fist back.

Mr. Ackerman shielded his face.

"NO! PLEASE DON'T!"

Mr. Ackerman was not naive to his son's strength.

Just as he heard the door fling open, he pulled his fist back.

Looking as composed as ever, Levi spit on his "father."

"Pathetic."

With nothing more, he turned on his heel and walked out.
