HOPE DAY DREAMT BESIDES HER SLEEPING BEST FRIEND. It had been a three days since they were attacked and Hope had been in and out of consciousness since. The doctor said she was fine just traumatized by the incident. Hope's parents went complete crazy, hiring a body guard to stand outside their apartment door at all times in fear of their daughter being taken again. Her parents refused to send Hope to school so Piper managed to skip with a flash of her puppy dog eyes to Lucy. How we, if it weren't for Piper's persuasion skills and a Mike's sub who knows if the body guard would have let her in
Ever since that night, Piper couldn't stop thinking about those men. "Boss is going to be happy with us." Played in her head over and over again. Who were they working for? What would their "boss" want with two teenagers? She was restless, determined to go back and figure out who these people were.
"Woah, you look so intense right now." Hope groggled, snapping Piper out of her thoughts.
"You're awake." Piper let out a sigh of relief, "For a second I thought you were sleeping beauty and Id have to find some New Yorker off the streets to kiss you."
"I would rather sleep for an eternity than be kissed by the hot dog guy on fifth avenue." Hope gagged. "How long have I been out anyways?"
"Well, you're parents said you've been off and on for the past theee days. I got her at eleven and it's three now so four hours?"
"Holy shit you've been looking at me for that long? I might as well think you're a stalker, Piper Prescott." Hope gasped.
"Shut up! I left at two and picked up food from Mike's but if I'm a stalker then maybe I should just go." Piper teased, holding up the bag containing fried food.
"Oh my gosh, no! Piper, you are the bestest friend anyone could ever have." Hope shrieked, grabbing her burger out of the bag. "I love you so much." She babbled, with a mouth full of food.
"Mhm, that's what I thought." Piper laughed, happy to have her best friend back.
The two ate their burgers in peace, as they watched an episode of that seventies show. Piper hasn't realized how hungry she was until now. From all the worrying, she hasn't eaten very much in the past three days.
Hope suddenly clicked the tv off, earning a yelp from Piper, "Hey! This is my favorite episode turn it back on."
"Piper, we need to talk." Hope mumbled.
Piper's face instantly dropped. In her three years of knowing Hope, she has never seen her get so serious. "Yeah, what's up?" Piper spoke, plopping herself on the bed.
"I–I've been thinking about this ever since that night. And I keep telling myself you're crazy, Hope, but then I think back to it and I know what I saw." Hope pausesed, looking at Piper, "You hurt that man. You hurt him by just touching him."
Piper's heart stopped. Her eyes went wide, skin turning pink. "N–no! I–I hit him remember? I grabbed the trash can lid and I hit him." She stuttered, trying to come up with something.
"Piper, I saw you," Hope whispered, grabbing her hand gently, "Please just tell me I'm crazy and that you don't actually have super powers. That whole night was insane just tell me that I got hit in the head and that I was invisioning eveything because I'm going crazy."
Piper pauses. Her mouth opening but no words coming out. She closed her eyes, inhaling trying to find the words to say. "You're not crazy, Hope."
Hope looked up to see her brown eyes become glossier each time she peered into them. Years of pain, betrayal, and anger hid behind her doe eyes. Never did she think she'd have to tell her secret. Tell
why she was different. Why she was abnormal.
"When I was seven years old and my parents and I got into that car accident I should have died. I should have died with my parents, but when that lightening struck it did something to me." Piper confessed, tears slowly falling down her cheek.
"I–I've never felt so much power in my life. It was electrifying but so terrifying at the same time. At the time I didn't know what I could do. It wasn't until a week later when Tómas took me in. He was trying to calm me down from a nightmare I had and when I grabbed him it was like all that power and tension was released. He was in the hospital for two days because I hurt him so badly."
"But how? How can you hurt people by just touching them?" Hope questioned, curiously growing in her.
Hope sighed, looking down at her hands, "You see I don't exactly know. I've been doing research but it's like how do I look up such a thing? From what I know I can manipulate the electrical discharges in nerve fibers through touch which causes pain."
Hope looked at her with a look she couldn't understand. It was minutes before Piper couldn't take it anymore, "Hope, please say something."
"Since you're basically a superhero now, do I get to be your side kick? I can make us matching suits!" Hope exclaimed, her pale face gleaming with excitement.
"What?" Piper's eyes went wide, astonished by her reaction. This was not how she expected this conversation to go.
"Oh my gosh what if the avengers ask you to be apart of their whole superhero squad?! I'll be able to meet Iron Man!" Hope squealed, looking at her Iron Man poster on her door.
"You're handeling this way better than what I thought." Piper breathed out, "So you're not alafatais of me?"
Hope's face softened, "Of course I'm not. I mean you definitely have a lot more explaining to do later but you're my best friend. Even if you can kill someone by just touching them."
Piper let out a laugh before being embraced in the arms of her best friend. She shut her eyes letting one last year slip. Hope pulled away and wiped her swollen cheeks, "I'm feeling really stuffed in here. Should we go get milk shakes at Mikes? We can invite Ned and Peter?"
Piper nodded, "Yeah, I'd like that a lot."
"Okay, well we're going out the window since Mr. Bodyguard won't let me out of my house." Hope spoke, leaping out of her bed towards the window.
Piper laughed, watching her tangled blonde hair sway in the wind, struggling to exit th trough the window. Maybe letting people know who she truly was wasn't so bad. Maybe she could finally start being herself. If only that was the case. Piper was determined as ever to find out who those men were and what their motives were. She was itching to solve a mystery, even if it meant getting hurt along the way.
