Chapter 12

Homura hopped down from the brick wall, to where Madoka was standing.
"There isn't anyone in sight," Homura reported, "But if anyone looked up, then they would have seen me. We should get moving now." Madoka nodded.
Both of them turned to head off.
Madoka suddenly heard her name.
"Madoka Kaname." Madoka turned around, but she couldn't see anyone, she turned to Homura.
"What's wrong?" Homura asked, seeing Madoka turn around and look about.
"You didn't hear that?" Madoka asked Homura. Homura looked confused.
"Hear what?"
"Nothing."

"Homura Akemi." Immediately, Homura reached behind her shield, pulling out a gun. Turning around, Homura saw no-one, only the same, everlasting scene of rocks, stone and brick wreckages.
"Is everything okay?" Madoka asked. Homura nodded, replacing the gun behind her shield, but she kept her hand on it. She didn't want to scare Madoka. She had to stay alert.
Very soon, Homura realised why she kept hearing voices, how could she be so stupid?
Immediately, Homura drew her gun out, and fired up into the sky. Once, twice, until finally, something fell from the sky.
Homura stared in disgust at the fallen creature.
A grotesque, black, imp-like creature lay there. It's red eyes stared at Homura and Madoka before vanishing in a cloud of dust.
Madoka blinked in confusion and looked at Homura.
"Wha-"
A loud roar interrupted Madoka's sentence. Yellow flashes began raining down on the two girls, as more minions began appearing above them.

"Rusoka," Homura hissed, "The witch of chaos. She whispers into people's minds, eventually sending them crazy. Get under cover, Madoka. I will fight her."
Madoka nodded, running fearfully to an abandoned shed, which somehow had not been destroyed in Walpurgisnacht's attack.
Homura stood under the slowly darkening cloud in the sky. Yellow flashes rained down, but she deflected them neatly with her shield. Beginning to sprint, Homura leapt from housetop to building roofs, slowly getting closer to the chaotic witch. Pulling out a bomb, she hurled it at the shadowy form of the witch, exploding with a sharp bang.
Miku looked up at the sound of the bomb, seeing the large shadowy witch, and the minute form of Homura in the distance, standing on the top of a broken building, firing up at the witch, the constant fire of bullets colliding with the witch's continuous minions.

"Kyoko, what's that?" Yuma asked Kyoko fearfully, as a fearsome screech filled the air. Kyoko looked up, frowning thoughtfully.
"It sounds like a fight's happened, it can't be between magical girls though."
Yuma's eyes widened.
"Are there witches here?" Kyoko shrugged.
"There probably would be. Trust Kyubey to mess things up so bad."
Yuma shivered.
"It sounds like utter chaos up there."

The witch emitted a final shriek, as it died, Homura's final blast destroying it.
Jumping down from the building she had been standing on, Homura reached for the grief seed. Picking it up, she looked at it carelessly. Why bother get a grief seed when you have one that will last forever? Casually, she threw it over her shoulder, where it landed, cracked, into the dirty pavement behind her.
A small shadow swirled within the grief seed, unnoticed by anyone.

"Who's there?!" Yuuki looked around wildly. She was behind an abandoned shed, where she sought cover. A small squeak was her response.
Yuuki frowned, marching towards the shed. Throwing open the door, she found a girl with pink hair in two pigtails, crouched on the floor, trembling.
Madoka looked up, as light entered the dingy shed. Yuuki recognised her.
"Madoka Kaname." Madoka gasped in fear. Standing up, she took an uncertain step back.
Yuuki opened her mouth to say something, but Homura's voice beat her to it.
"Stay away from Madoka." Her voice was full of warning and threats. Yuuki looked up and smiled.
"Why should I? This is the Hunger Games after all." Homura's response was to draw out a gun, aiming it at Yuuki's left ear, where, if shot, her soul gem would also be shot.
Yuuki drew her scythe, preparing to fight.
Homura suddenly fired a bullet, catching Yuuki by surprise. Darting to the side, she avoided the bullet, the bullet only touching her brown hair.
Yuuki smiled as she swung the scythe at Homura. Just as she was about to hit, Homura suddenly disappeared, then reappeared behind her.
"Huh?" Yuuki blinked, confused. Then she remembered. Homura can stop time, she had the upper hand.
Gritting her teeth, she turned around to face Homura once more. She sensed something by her feet, and looked down. What she saw horrified her. A bomb sat by her feet, its timer slowly ticking down from 10 seconds. Yuuki looked at the timer, fascinated, until she remember what it was. Lunging to the side, she dove to the floor just as the bomb exploded.
Shutting her eyes against the dust and grit that flew past, she waited silently for the wind to die down, and possibly, Homura Akemi ending her life.
When the dust settled, she looked up, and, seeing no-one there, scrambled to her feet. Where was Homura? Even Madoka was gone. They were both gone. That could only mean they had run away, or were waiting to ambush her.
Yuuki gave a sigh. She will be prepared for anything to win the Hunger Games. The wish Kyubey offered her if she won, was too big a reward to miss.
