Madman's Ballad (glassEyed)

 Madman's Ballad

It's time now, to sing the madman's ballad.

Come, whisper it to the orphan girl

She'll clasp it tight in her cupped hands

And carry it from huts to forts,

Offering it to whoever's still breathing.

Most doors will be slammed in her face

Yet she'll leave pieces of it on their steps

And silently move on.

On the way, she'll spray a little out to the winds

Which would scatter it across the sky.

She'll sprinkle some on the trickling waters

Which would soak it into every corner.

Maybe, the rains would then be a lighter shade of red

The breezes would carry lesser tales of agony.

The earth would die a little less

The heavens would breathe a little more.

It's time now, to scream the madman's ballad.

The flames in every suppressed heart shall ignite

Come, dance like fanatics around this inferno

Into which the girl will drop the final remains of the song

Like a phoenix it would rise,

Larger and larger, louder and louder

Every unheard cry would be echoed in it

Every unseen tear would be reflected off it.

And then,

Man would finally be human again.
