WELCOME TO THE PUB-VERSE

Keep Going
By Edgar Guest

When things go wrong, as they sometimes will,
When the road you're trudging seems all up hill,
When the funds are low and the debts are high,
And you want to smile, but you have to sigh,
When care is pressing you down a bit,
Rest if you must—but don't you quit.

Life is queer with its twists and turns,
As every one of us sometimes learns,
And many a failure turns about
When he might have won had he stuck it out;
Don't give up, though the pace seems slow—
You may succeed with another blow.

Often the goal is nearer than
It seems to a faint and faltering man,
Often the struggler has given up
When he might have captured the victor's cup,
And he learned too late, when the night slipped down,
How close he was to the golden crown.

Success is failure turned inside out—
The silver tint of the clouds of doubt,
And you never can tell how close you are,
It may be near when it seems afar;
So stick to the fight when you're hardest hit—
It's when things seem worst that you mustn't quit.

Busted Gulch Vol. 15 Update:

Jake went back to work hoping Petra would not fire him.  After a scolding and some words with Jasper, Petra let Jake work and let him know that he was skating on thin ice.  After work Jake went back to the hotel to find Sallie was waiting for him in his room.  Sallie, seeming calm and calculating, gave Jake a bad feeling.  That feeling was founded when Sallie let him know that she had "taken care of" someone that had been standing in the way of her and Jake being together.  At first Jake thought it was Rue but soon realized Sallie was talking about Mary Sue.  He ran to Mary Sue's room and when there was no answer he broke the door down, only to find Mary Sue dead.

A Hymn To The Moon
By Mary Wortley Montagu

Thou silver deity of secret night,
Direct my footsteps through the woodland shade;
Thou conscious witness of unknown delight,
The Lover's guardian, and the Muse's aid!
By thy pale beams I solitary rove,
To thee my tender grief confide;
Serenely sweet you gild the silent grove,
My friend, my goddess, and my guide.
E'en thee, fair queen, from thy amazing height,
The charms of young Endymion drew;
Veil'd with the mantle of concealing night;
With all thy greatness and thy coldness too.

Vitae Summa Brevis
By Ernest Dowson

Vitae Summa Brevis Spem Nos Vetat Incohare Longam
The brief sum of life forbids us the hope of enduring long. –Horace

They are not long, the weeping and the laughter,
Love and desire and hate:
I think they have no portion in us after
We pass the gate.

They are not long, the days of wine and roses:
Out of a misty dream
Our path emerges for a while, then closes
Within a dream.

The Paradoxical Commandments
By Kent M. Keith

People are illogical, unreasonable, and self-centered.
Love them anyway.

If you do good, people will accuse you of selfish ulterior motives.
Do good anyway.

If you are successful, you will win false friends and true enemies.
Succeed anyway.

The good you do today will be forgotten tomorrow.
Do good anyway.

Honesty and frankness make you vulnerable.
Be honest and frank anyway.

The biggest men and women with the biggest ideas can be shot down by the smallest men and women with the smallest minds.
Think big anyway.

People favor underdogs but follow only top dogs.
Fight for a few underdogs anyway.

What you spend years building may be destroyed overnight.
Build anyway.

People really need help but may attack you if you do help them.
Help people anyway.

Give the world the best you have and you'll get kicked in the teeth.
Give the world the best you have anyway.

Holy Cow Folks!!!! It is already November!!! Where has the year gone?? It seems like the days are flying by at mach speed!! As such, please remember to take the time to enjoy life and love the ones most important to you.  Dirty dishes, laundry, a messy garage, an over grown lawn, etc, will still be there if you decide to take time to spend with your loved ones.

I hope everyone has a magnificent week!!
Remember to... keep those pens and keyboards flying!!

Cheers from you Mystres of Chatter
