Pub Chatter 7th Edition - June 6, 2021
WELCOME TO THE PUB-VERSE
!!!!! ATTENTION IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT !!!!!
So...this is the first time we have tried doing a challenge like this, (Achievement Hunter) and we are finding that we have made a few mistakes and a few things need to be clarified and tweaked. We want to thank you ever so much for your patience and understanding. We also want to thank you all for your questions it is really helping us make this challenge better.
Here are the changes and/or clarifications we are making. Please note that none of the changes will affect any points that you have received.
* We did not make it clear at first but, you can only do each achievement ONCE. This has been added to the list of rules.
* One of our wonderful Pubbers brought it to our attention that we had skipped the #19 achievement. It has been added in.
* Challenge #23 has been clarified, it was not possible to do the challenge and get the bonus points so we have changed it so that you can get both.
* Collaboration poems – for these poems we suggest that you message other poets you would like to write a poem with and once the poem is written, each contributing poet can add it to their own books and then one of you can send it in to the Pub in a DM as usual with a list of all the poets that contributed.
* We are doing our best to keep track of points. I have created a spreadsheet to keep track of the points, but when the leader-boards are posted and if you feel like you have not been credited with the proper number of points, PLEASE just DM us and we will look at it and fix it if need be.
* And finally, we want to help promote those who are taking on these challenges, so we will be creating a Reading List with all the 100 Poem challenge books and if you have created a separate book for the Achievement Hunter challenge you can send us the link for it, and we will include it as well.
A few years back we started a collection here at the Pub called "With Style: Poetry". This collection is an open collection that discusses the various forms of poetry; their history and how to write them. This week's featured poem is by Pubber @ScottArroy and it is a beautiful example of a Personification Poem.
Country Roads
By @ScottArroy
Her mothering instincts clear
with guardrails and advisory signs
Too often more like a granny
with too many aged signs and lines
Most of my friends find her a temptress
they love her curved habitats
but some are the girl next door type
find her happiest just in flats.
When first exposed and laid flat
she's the best ride ever offered
Especially when the pedal is down
and thrusting fully forward
Prepared surfaces though often induce
a strange perhaps awkward bleat
switching our senses to peak
to warn off thought of sleep.
Whether in car truck bus or bike
or even enjoying a roadside hike
The thrill of the country road
will produce a splendid episode

A Short Walk
By @Ajay-Kumar
I took a walk for a change,
The feeling's foreign and strange,
Street dogs barked during gang wars
Among round moon and dot stars
Streetlamps were dim witted,
Bright grandmas sweaters knitted,
Highways lit and lots were dark
Among owl's hoot and dog's bark
Are you afraid of the dark?
Because I bloody was!
That's all for my wish to roam,
Time to get my ass back home!

Darling One
By orkneyman
There is in my heart
a bright tiny house
where you yet dwell
There is in my mind
a country lane
where we still walk
There is in my soul
a quiet prayer
you too walk there
There is in my life
an empty space
that you once filled

The Artist
By @spacetodream
Let your heart be opened to the verses that speak within,
let the music of your words glide through you, painting you open,
allowing the rush of inspiration to fill and refresh you like a cool rain.
Let your mind relax into evenings spent with your notebook and pen,
let the moonlight slip into your soul, awakening
the poet, the singer, the dancer, the dreamer, the writer, the artist.
Let your spirit be nourished by that which calls to you,
let your hours be filled by that which stimulates and strengthens you,
bring your passions to the surface, bright brilliant creations bursting forth, Alive!
This Chatter turned out a bit long so I will just leave you with this:
Be the ever-changing water; solid when you need to make a stand, the mist when you need to follow the wind, or liquid when you need patience to forge your own path. Water is not controlled, it is adaptable.
--MystresMyna
I hope everyone has a super-duper week, filled with joy and love!!
Remember to... keep those pens and keyboards flying!!
Cheers from you Mystres of Chatter
