Pub Chatter 7th Edition - August 15, 2021
WELCOME TO THE PUB-VERSE
Hey Pub-Verse!! How's it going?!?! I hope your summer has been super-duper fantastic!! As we come down to the end of our Achievement Hunter Challenge and 100-Poem Challenge, I just want to remind everyone that you have until August 31, at midnight MST to get all of your entries in. For those of you doing the 100-Poem Challenge we will be validating your entries on September 1st. To do this we will be checking the book from your profile that you submitted at the beginning of the summer, and we will be counting the poems as well as making sure that each of them are at least 8 lines long.
No Man Is an Island
By John Donne
No man is an island,
Entire of itself;
Every man is a piece of the continent,
A part of the main.
If a clod be washed away by the sea,
Europe is the less,
As well as if a promontory were:
As well as if a manor of thy friend's
Or of thine own were.
Any man's death diminishes me,
Because I am involved in mankind.
And therefore never send to know for whom the bell tolls;
It tolls for thee.

Fog
By Carl Sandburg
THE fog comes
on little cat feet.
It sits looking
over harbor and city
on silent haunches
and then moves on.

Summer Stars
By Carl Sandburg
Bend low again, night of summer stars.
So near you are, sky of summer stars,
So near, a long-arm man can pick off stars,
Pick off what he wants in the sky bowl,
So near you are, summer stars,
So near, strumming, strumming,
So lazy and hum-strumming.

Happiness
By Carl Sandburg
I asked the professors who teach the meaning of life to tell
me what is happiness.
And I went to famous executives who boss the work of
thousands of men.
They all shook their heads and gave me a smile as though
I was trying to fool with them
And then one Sunday afternoon I wandered out along
the Desplaines river
And I saw a crowd of Hungarians under the trees with
their women and children and a keg of beer and an
accordion.
Well, we have come to the end/beginning of another week here at the Poets Pub!! I bid you all to hold tight to positive thoughts, share kindness whenever the opportunity presents itself and know that you all mean the world to us here at the Pub!!
Remember to... keep those pens and keyboards flying!!
Cheers from you Mystres of Chatter
