Pub Chatter 7 Edition - November 21, 2021
WELCOME TO THE PUB-VERSE
Thanksgiving Time
Langston Hughes
When the night winds whistle through the trees and blow the crisp brown leaves a-crackling down,
When the autumn moon is big and yellow-orange and round,
When old Jack Frost is sparkling on the ground,
It's Thanksgiving Time!
When the pantry jars are full of mince-meat and the shelves are laden with sweet spices for a cake,
When the butcher man sends up a turkey nice and fat to bake,
When the stores are crammed with everything ingenious cooks can make,
It's Thanksgiving Time!
When the gales of coming winter outside your window howl,
When the air is sharp and cheery so it drives away your scowl,
When one's appetite craves turkey and will have no other fowl,
It's Thanksgiving Time!

Message from our Founder
It was in May of 2015 that I first opened the doors of the Poets Pub to the Poets of Wattpad. For over 4 years, we enjoyed an amazing growth and became the place to be for Poets.
Unfortunately, times have changed.
It seems that the Poets Pub is no longer the place to be.
Myna and I have tried every trick in the book to keep the Pub fresh and exciting, but it seems that no matter what we try, it is doomed to failure. Proof positive is this year's Poet of the Year Contest, which is the poorest turnout we have ever had. A clear sign that the Poets Pub has served its purpose.
I want to thank everyone that has made the Pub the place it was for so many years. I am not going to single out any people in particular, because each and every one that has passed through the doors of the Pub is important.
But, with that being said, I want to thank, from the bottom of my heart, MystresMyna. Without her devotion and love of the Poets Pub, it would have ended long ago. She has been the Rock that has kept the doors open. THANK YOU MY FRIEND.
I make this announcement with a heavy heart, as the Pub has been my pride and joy for over 5 years. But ...
As of December 31, 2021, the Poets Pub doors will close for the last time. An era has come to an end.
Bill Temple
A Message from Myna
As you all know I have been with the Pub for the last 5 years and it has been the experience of a lifetime. I could go on and on about what the Pub has meant to me, but I will restrict myself to what has been most important and that is all of YOU. The friends I have made here at the Pub are all very dear to my heart. But, like Bill said, it is with a heavy heart that we are going to be saying good-bye to the Pub. There is a time for all things under the sun and it seems the Pub has come to the end of its time. This is not a decision that Bill and I have come to lightly, but we feel it is the right thing to do.
I want to say THANK YOU to Bill for giving me the opportunity to work behind the scenes here at the Pub, it was a dream come true. He has been my mentor, partner and most importantly my FRIEND; we have been through a lot the last five years. It has been a great privilege and honor to work with you, MY DEAR FRIEND!!!
However, the Pub will not just fade away. The Pub library will be here as long as Wattpad is continuing. If anyone wants to continue to contribute to the collections we have, you are more than welcome to continue to share your poems here. I will continue to check in a few times a week to post anything that is sent in. I will also continue to do the Chatter until the end of the year, but after that it will be retired as well.
Thank you again for all the amazing memories shared, words woven and friendships made.
Cheers to you all!!!
Myna

Tell Him So
Author Unknown
If you hear a kind word spoken
Of some worthy soul you know,
It may fill his heart with sunshine
If you only tell him so.
If a deed, however humble,
Helps you on your way to go,
Seek the one whose hand has helped you,
Seek him out and tell him so!
If your heart is touched and tender
Toward a person, lost and low,
It might help him to do better
If you'd only tell him so!

Gratitude
Edgar Albert Guest
Be grateful for the kindly friends that walk along your way;
Be grateful for the skies of blue that smile from day to day;
Be grateful for the health you own, the work you find to do,
For round about you there are men less fortunate than you.
Be grateful for the growing trees, the roses soon to bloom,
The tenderness of kindly hearts that shared your days of gloom;
Be grateful for the morning dew, the grass beneath your feet,
The soft caresses of your babes and all their laughter sweet.
Acquire the grateful habit, learn to see how blest you are,
How much there is to gladden life, how little life to mar!
And what if rain shall fall to-day and you with grief are sad;
Be grateful that you can recall the joys that you have had.

Without This there Is Nought (poem 655)
Emily Dickinson
Without this there is nought
All other Riches be
As is the Twitter of a Bird
Heard opposite the Sea
I could not care to gain
A lesser than the Whole
For did not this include themself
As Seams include the Ball?
I wished a way might be
My Heart to subdivide
'Twould magnify the Gratitude
And not reduce the Gold
For those of us who live in the US, I would like to wish everyone a very Happy Thanksgiving and say how grateful we are here at the Pub for each and everyone of you!! We hope you all have a wonderful holiday with family and friends!!
I hope everyone has a magnificent week!!
Remember to... keep those pens and keyboards flying!!
Cheers from you Mystres of Chatter
