OLD BUSINESS:

April Contest:

For the April 2017 contest we asked that you send in your ideas for what kind of contest you wanted to see and we received two ideas. Both of them are great ideas, but we would like to see if we can get a few more before we present them for you to choose from. So keep sending them in and we will have you vote on them at a later date.

As for the April competition, Bill has a great idea that I think we can have some fun with.

March Contest:

The March Contest is going great!! The submissions we have received are spectacular and I encourage all of you to stop by and check them out.  You still have plenty of time to get your submissions in, everyone can send in two poems for this contest and you can find all the rules here:

Writer's Handbook:

The second article has been posted for our new Writer's Handbook.  This one was written by orkneyman and it has excellent advice and information for all writers.  I truly hope you are enjoying this new project; we hope to bring you many more articles written by Pubbers for Pubbers that will help you expand your poetry writing skills.

If there are any particular subjects you would like to see us cover or you have specific questions you would like answered, please feel free to send them in a Private Message and we will do our best to get them answered.  You can find the new Writer's Hand book here:

NEW BUSINESS:

We really don't have any new business for this week; however I do have a suggestion from one of our members.  Orkneyman has suggested a website that is a tremendous resource for the art of poetry.

Shadow Poetry
http://www.shadowpoetry.com/

This is a wonderful website full of information for all things poetry.  There are writing guides, poetry forums as well as articles on the different types of poetry.  Check it out and let us know what you think.

MYNA'S MUSINGS:

I would be remiss if I did not mention that we have St. Patrick's Day coming up.  This is a perfect time to write some fun and creative poetry.  St. Patrick's Day has many traditional icons that are associated with it, the shamrock, the four leaf clover, the "Luck of the Irish" and of course leprechauns, all of which make interesting subjects for a poem.  Then, there are all of the wonderful Irish blessings and sayings such as this one:

May the road rise to meet you.
May the wind be always at your back.
May the sun shine warm upon your face.
And rains fall soft upon your fields.
And until we meet again,
May God hold you in the hollow of His hand.

Here is another saying that I think is just great:

Here's to you and yours
And to mine and ours.
And if mine and ours
Ever come across to you and yours,
I hope you and yours will do
As much for mine and ours
As mine and ours have done
For you and yours!

And finally here is an Irish toast:

There are good ships, and there are wood ships, the ships that sail the sea.
But the best ships are friendships, and may they always be.

Keeping all of this in mind I present to you this week's poetry prompts.

PROMPTS:

Prompt #1 – Create a blessing poem in the style of the Irish blessings, toasts or sayings.

Prompt #2 – St. Patrick is said to have chased all of the snakes out of Ireland, write a poem depicting this scene.

DOWN AT THE SALOON:

Busted Gulch Vol. 4 is going great guns.  It seems that Crazy Goose is getting her memory back and Rue is down in Jasonville taking care of Miss Darkly's uncle.  The town is growing so much that Miss Darkly has offered a partnership to AJ and they may turn the bakery into a café.  Head on over to the saloon to see what is going to happen next.

The storytellers-saloon has many other great collections for you to read.  Most of them are open for submissions so stop on by and see what they have to offer!

Well dear Pubbers, that is about it for this week.  As always stick around as long as you like and introduce yourself to someone new.

I would like to leave you with one last Irish saying:

May your neighbors respect you,
Troubles neglect you,
The angels protect you,
And Heaven accept you.

Cheers from your Mystres of Chatter

MystresMyna
