Today has been a relaxing and quiet day at the Kirk house!

Alex is currently catching up with his work upstairs in his office while Jake is catching up on laundry!

Ruby is sitting on the laundry room floor by Jake's side while Scarlett, Aurora, Levi and Avery are happily all playing outside!

Scarlett and Aurora are playing with chalk while Levi and Avery are kicking a ball around!

Avery spots something laying in the grass right by the swing set and it appears to be a small white and black animal with a tail.

"Wevi! Wevi! What's dat?" Avery asks Levi as he points at the possible animal.

Levi looks up and sees the object and gasps happily.

"It's a kitty! Scarlett! Aurora! Look! A kitty!" Levi says happily.

"Where?" Scarlett asks her little brothers in confusion.

"Right dere! See!" Avery yells with a big grin as he points.

"Aw! It's sleeping in the grass! How cute!" Aurora says with a big smile.

Scarlett, Aurora, Levi and Avery all carefully walk over to the cat and they all begin to pet the cat softly.

The cat looks up at Scarlett, Aurora, Levi and Avery and quickly puts it's head back down due to it become very weak.

"Is the kitty okay?" Levi asks Scarlett and Aurora.

"I think it's sick!" Aurora says with a big frown.

Scarlett moves the cat's back leg and it cries loudly, making herself, Aurora, Levi and Avery all frown.

"The cat is hurt and sick! We have to fix it! Let's get Daddy and Papa." Scarlett says to her younger siblings.

"I'll get Daddy!" Levi says to Scarlett.

"Me too! Me too!" Avery says to Scarlett,

"I'll get Papa!" Aurora says to Scarlett.

"And I'll stay here with the cat so it isn't lonely." Scarlett says as she pets the cat's head.

Avery, Levi and Aurora all run inside together. Aurora quickly runs upstairs while Avery and Levi run over to the laundry boy.

"Boys, don't be running in the house!" Jake says to Levi and Avery.

"Daddy! A cat is outside!" Avery says to Jake.

"Yeah, Daddy! The cat is sick!" Levi says to Jake.

"A sick cat? Where?" Jake asks Avery and Levi.

"Outside! Scarlett is wif it!" Avery says to Jake.

Jake picks up Ruby and fixes her hair.

"Let's see the cat. Show me where it is." Jake says to Levi and Avery.

Just then, Alex and Aurora run down the steps.

"Aurora! Papa is working! Why did you bother him about the cat?" Jake asks Aurora sternly.

"Because the cat is sick and needs help." Aurora says with a frown.

"I was just looking at paper work anyway. Show us where the cat is, guys." Alex says as Aurora, Levi and Avery all run over to Scarlett while Alex, Jake and Ruby follow.

"See!" Avery, Levi and Aurora all say in unison to Jake and Alex.

"Daddy, Papa, this cat needs our help! It won't get up or do anything." Scarlett says with a huge frown.

"Oh my gosh. That cat looks so sick." Jake says softly.

Alex begins to examine the cat as the kids and Jake watch on.

"It has a temperature and it's back leg feels broke." Alex says as he carefully picks up the cat and the cat cries out, making everyone frown.

"Is it a boy or a girl?" Levi asks Alex and Alex looks between them cats legs.

"It is a girl cat." Jake says as Scarlett and Aurora both cheer happily.

"You should take her to the vet. It's obvious she needs help. We can't just let her suffer in our yard like this. We can foster bed back to health." Jake says as he and Ruby softly pet the cat.

Alex checks the time on his Apple Watch and looks up at Jake.

"The vet is still open. I'll take her and see what they can do for her. But she is a really sick cat." Alex says to Jake.

"Well, whatever they need to do, let's at least try. I don't want to give up." Jake says as the kids all nod in agreement.

"Let me get her a blanket and I'll take her to the vet." Alex says as all of the kids cheer in excitement.

Alex grabs a blanket and wraps the cat up before leaving the house.

Alex takes the cat to the vet to get her check out and to see what is wrong with her while Jake stays home with the rest of the pets and the kids.

"Is the cat going to be alright, Daddy?" Scarlett asks Jake softly,

"Yeah, Daddy! Is the cat going to be okay?" Aurora asks Jake with worry.

"I think it she will be. But sometimes vets, who are like doctors for animals can't fix everything. Sometimes they can't do anything and animals still pass away." Jake says as Scarlett, Aurora, Levi and Avery all frown.

"I hope she okay!" Avery says to Jake.

"Me too!" Levi says to Jake.

"We just have to pray for her and think positively. I think she will be fine but you never know." Jake says softly to Scarlett, Aurora, Levi and Avery.

"Ba ba ba ba ba ba ba!" Ruby says as she rolls around on the floor.

"Papa and the cat are at the vet now. He said that he will call us when he finds out things." Jake says to all of the kids.

Jake, Scarlett, Aurora, Levi, Avery and Ruby all anxious wait for cat updates from Alex!

Forty five minutes later, Alex FaceTimes Jake!

"Hey kids! Come here! Papa is calling!" Jake says as he answers the FaceTime call.

Alex is back in his car sitting in the drivers seat and he is smiling.

"Pa pa!" Ruby says as she smiles at her Papa.

"Hi, Ruby girl! Hey, babe!" Alex says to Jake with a big smile.

"Hey, babe." Jake says with a small smile as Scarlett, Aurora, Levi and Avery all run over to the couch and they sit down next to Jake.

"Hi, Papa!" Scarlett, Aurora, Levi and Avery all say in unison with a lot of excitement.

"Hey guys!" Alex says with a big smile at Scarlett, Aurora, Levi and Avery.

"So, how is she doing?" Jake asks Alex softly, hoping and praying that the cat didn't die.

"She is doing pretty good! She looks a lot better already! I took a picture of her before I left the kennel area she is in. They have her in a kennel and she is getting IV fluids and IV antibiotics. She has an infection in her blood and something bit her too." Alex says to everyone.

Scarlett, Aurora, Levi and Avery all get excited that the cat is doing well but they are sad she is sick for now.

"What about her back right leg?" Jake asks Alex softly.

"The vet said it must have been broken for months and they don't know how long she broke it. But after a while, it healed incorrectly because she didn't get it treated. The only treatment plan now is to amputate it." Alex says as the kids frown.

"Th-they are cutting her leg off?" Aurora asks Alex with a frown.

"Yes, they are. It is causing her a lot of pain and it is very uncomfortable. She can't run and walk like a regular cat right now." Alex explains to Aurora.

"That is really really sad." Aurora says to Alex and Jake.

"When they cut the bad leg off, can she walk around with just three legs? I never seen an animal with three legs." Scarlett says to Alex.

"The vet said animals can adjust very well to an injury like that. They said within a few days she will know how to walk with three legs! And plus she has been walking around with three legs already." Alex says to Scarlett.

"How old do they think she is?" Jake asks Alex softly.

"She is about two or three years old! They think somebody had her before because she was already fixed. She doesn't have a microchip in her though." Alex says to Jake.

"Can we keep her, Daddy and Papa?" Levi asks Jake and Alex.

"Yeah! Wet's keep her!" Avery asks Jake and Alex.

"Please, Daddy and Papa!" Scarlett and Aurora both asks Jake and Alex as they playfully pout.

"Lucky did well with her and I think our other cats will love her. What do you think, Jakey?" Alex asks Jake.

"I think we should keep her. We are already attached." Jake says as Scarlett, Aurora, Levi, Avery and Ruby all happily cheer and Alex smiles.

Jake, Alex, Scarlett, Aurora, Levi, Avery and Ruby have all decided to name the cat, Kacey, after the country singer Kacey Musgraves!

- A Few Days Later -
Kacey the cat has been at the vet hospital for a few days now! Kacey is healing nicely from her leg amputation surgery and she has finished her strong IV antibiotics!

Kacey will still need to take pill antibiotics for a few more weeks but other then that, she is be a healthy and happy cat!

Right now, Alex is on his way to pick Kacey from the vet, while Jake and the kids are cleaning up the house to get ready for her!

Scarlett, Aurora, Levi and Avery are all putting their toys away while Jake is fluffing up the couch. Ruby is currently playing with her baby toys on the floor and she is rolling around happily!

"Hey guys, are you all excited for Kacey to come home today?" Jake asks Scarlett, Aurora, Levi, Avery and Ruby with a big smile.

"YES!" Scarlett, Aurora, Levi and Avery all say in unison to Jake with big smiles on their faces.

"Ba ba ba ba ba!" Ruby says as she claps her hands and smiles up at Jake.

"Can Kacey walk okay now, Daddy?" Levi asks Jake as he hugs Jake's leg.

When the kids found Kacey in the backyard, she could barely walk and she was a very weak cat.

"Yes, she can! She has already taught herself how to walk with her three legs! She is going to be just fine!" Jake says as he rubs Levi's head and Levi smiles ear to ear.

"YAY!" Levi says with a big smile at Jake and he jumps up and down.

"Daddy, is Kacey getting better?" Aurora asks Jake softly.

"She sure is! She is feeling so much better then she was! Kacey has to take some medicine for a few more weeks but after that, she will be good!" Jake says to Aurora.

"That's good, Daddy! I am so happy she is getting better!" Aurora says to Jake.

"Me too! I am so excited to have Kacey in our family, Daddy!" Scarlett says to Jake with a grin.

"Me too!" Levi and Avery both say in unison happily to Jake.

"Ba ba ba da da da!" Ruby says with a smile.

Jake picks up Ruby from the living room floor and kisses her forehead, making Ruby smile and babble happily.

"Okay, let's get the litter boxes all cleaned up and make sure we get all of Kacey's new toys out!" Jake says Scarlett, Aurora, Levi and Avery.

"Okay, Daddy!" Scarlett, Aurora, Levi and Avery all say in unison to Jake as they begin to help him!

Alex and Kacey are now home! Alex is holding Kacey in his arms and he is carrying her bag full of medicine and free things from the vet.

"We are home!" Alex says happily as Kacey yawns.

"PAPA! KACEY!" Scarlett, Aurora Levi and Avery all happily yell as they all run over to Alex and Kacey.

"Hey guys!" Alex says as he sits down on the couch with Kacey in his lap.

Jake and Ruby then happily walk over to Alex and Kacey.

"Look, Ruby! There is Kacey!" Jake says as Ruby smiles and claps her hands.

One by one, Scarlett, Aurora, Levi and Avery all pet and hug Kacey the cat.

"Be gentle with her guys, she is still very very sore. We have to be very gentle with her." Alex explains to all of the Kirk kids, even baby Ruby.

"She looks so much better. Oh my goodness." Jake says as he pets Kacey's head.

"She walks like a pro! She was even running around with the vet but the vet made her stop so she wouldn't hurt herself." Alex says proudly.

"Ba ba ba ba ba!" Ruby says with a big smile.

"Yeah, Ruby! A new cat!" Alex says as he and Jake both giggle loudly.

For the rest of the day, Alex, Scarlett, Scarlett, Aurora, Levi, Avery, Ruby, Swifty, Gaga, Underwood and Lucky all hang out with Kacey the cat.

Alex, Jake, Scarlett, Aurora, Levi, Avery and Ruby are all very excited to welcome Kacey the cat into the family! :)

Sadly she needed her leg amputated because the leg was broken for too long, however, the cat is now healthy and happy and is doing just fine walking around with three legs.
