Chapter 2
Asri sighed a bit as she stared at the mandela pattern that was on the ceiling in her bedroom while tossing a stress ball up in the air and catching it with her hands. She remembered starting the ceiling painting a couple days after she arrived here at the castle.
It did add a bit of personality to the room.
Asri caught her ball in both hands as someone knocked on the door.
"Come in" she called with a bored tone.
The tip of her tail twitched a bit as Killer appeared, walking into the room and shutting the door behind him.
"Hey"
"Hey"
"So, how are you holding up?" Killer asked as he came over and sat on the bed beside her, letting one leg hang off the side.
Asri let out a slow breath as she let her hands rest on her stomach.
"That bad, huh?" Killer asked, doing his best at a sympathetic expression.
Kinda hard to make the best expressions when your eye sockets were completely black and voided.
Asri shrugged as she furrowed her brows a bit, fiddling with her ball in her hands, before turning over onto her side, bringing one of her arms up and bending it to use it as a pillow.
"I just wish people understood about the balance the we have to maintain. It hurts, the dirty, distrusting looks that we always get from other people. It's not our fault that we have to help Error keep the balance between Creation and Destruction. It's not our fault that the inkblot won't listen or even try to understand what he puts us through" she lightly ranted as she started to tear up.
Killer sighed before he lifted his head and rubbed it in a comforting manner on her upper arm.
"I know, it's hard, everyone thinking your a psycho, or a crazy lunatic for a job that you have to do without realizing or stopping to think that it might be saving them" he said, staring off into space as he spoke.
He looked back at Asri's figure.
"And it's not going to get any easier from here. But the best thing to do is savor and make the most of the small breaks that we get here and there. As well as find comfort in other people" he stated, taking his hand back and letting it settle in his lap.
Asri softly smiled a bit and let out a soft breath through her nose.
"Thanks Kills. I really needed that" she said as she started to sit up.
The door burst open at that moment and a blur appeared flying through it. Asri let out a yelping oof sound as it tackled her.
"We went over this! You are not allowed to be sad. Such a thing is forbidden!" A familiar gruf voice cried out.
"Hello to you to Horror" Asri coughed out.
Dust appeared, leaning in the doorway.
"The boss sensed your negativity and sent us to go check on you" he explained.
"Oh, that explains it" Asri said as she lifted herself up a bit, which was made a bit difficult with Horror clinging to her frame like it was a lifeline.
Dust came into the room and crawled over.
"Horror, come on, your suffocating her" he said, attempting to pry Horror off of Asri.
Horror snapped at him, holding on even tighter, though he whined and whimpered when he felt Asri trying to push him off.
"Horror, really, it's starting to get hard to breathe here man" she stated, amusement lining her voice.
Horror huffed and whined a bit, but he finally untangled himself from Asri, taking a seat right by her torso. She sat up a bit.
"So, are you guys all camping out here tonight or something?" She asked.
"If that's alright with you" Dust replied with a shrug.
Asri sighed a bit then looked at Horror. Which turned out to be a big mistake.
His visible eyelight had dilated to the point where there wasn't much black around it, and with his mouth closed, he looked a little too adorable to resist.
Not even Nightmare could fight against Horror's puppy eye look.
Asri tried to resist it, with soft words of protest, but she couldn't fight for long.
"Ugh, fine! You guys can stay for the night" she said, though her voice held no real spite in it.
Everyone happily cheered, and Asri couldn't help the small chuckles, and later on, the cackling laughs that came from her.
She really was lucky to have friends like these boys, even if they were a bit psychotic.
