Naruto

Upon entering the room, Naruto sat in the only chair in the room. Once seated, he looked over the desk he was facing and noted how empty it was. In fact the whole room wad plain and empty. This started to make Naruto nervous and twitchy. There was nowhere to hide, nothing to protect him if something happened.

After about thirty minutes of waiting, a man with long blonde hair and bright green eyes. He looked normal apart from the fact that Naruto couldn't read the man's eyes. Usually he could see someone's intentions by looking at them due to years of practice and figuring out who he could trust.

"Hello Naruto, my name is Inoichi. I like my job, my family, and flowers. I dislike traitors and those who abandon friends in need. I've also achieved my dream so for now all I'd like is to make my family happy. As for my hobbies, I guess I like gardening and training. Do you mind introducing yourself?" The man introduced.

"I'm Naruto Uzumaki, I like cup ramen and the ramen Iruka-sensei treats me to. But I hate the three minutes you have to wait for ramen to cook. My hobby is trying different types of ramen and comparing them. And my future dream is to become the greatest Hokage, then everyone in the village with stop disrespecting me and treat me like I'm somebody, somebody important."

"Well Naruto, there are two parts to this evaluation, first is the interview, second is a Jutsu that lets me go through your mind scape." Inoichi explained simply.

"Do I have to?"

"Yes, orders from Hokage-sama. I guess I'll start then. You sure do like ramen. Interesting. Do you mind telling me about Iruka?"

"Sure, he was my teacher at the academy and is the reason I graduated. If it wasn't for him, who knows what would have happened."

"You do have a lot of respect for him don't you. I do have the notes of your graduation. Care to tell me about it?

"Why? You just said you know what happened?" Naruto asked suspiciously.

"Well I have the mission report, but I want to hear your version of what happened."

"Oh... Well... The test was to do a bunshin, but I couldn't do it so I failed."

"Are you able to do a normal bunshin now?"

"No I still can't, but that doesn't matter anymore." He replied seemingly defeated before returning to his usual self.

"I guess it doesn't. Getting back to what happened. After you failed, how did you feel."

"I guess I felt sad. I could hear people saying mean things about me."

"So you're used to people talking about you?" Confused the man asked.

"I guess." He shrugged.

"I see. What happened next?"

"Well Mizuki came over and asked me to join him on the roof top."

"Did you feel suspicious at this point?"

"I don't really remember." Naruto's eyes looked away as he spoke, like he was hiding something.

"Are you sure?"

"Yea I tend not to remember."

"What did he say once you two got to the roof?"

"Well he began telling me that Iruka-Sensei was an orphan like me and that he pushed me harder because of it. Then told me about the so called secret graduation exam."

"And what was this secret graduation exam?"

"He said that if I took a secret scroll from the Hokage's office and learnt at least one technique from it then I could pass."

"What did you do then?"

"Who wouldn't want to graduate? So I did what he said."

"I'll get back this a little later. What I want to know is how you managed to get passed the ANBU and into the Hokage's office with out anyone noticing."

"Well I've been there so often that I knew where to go." He stiffened ever so slightly, probably unnoticed to the untrained eye.

"What happened next?"

"Well I went into the forest to read the scroll."

"Interesting. What happened when Mizuki and Iruka found you?"

"Iruka-Sensei found me first and I told him what Mizuki said. Then Mizuki attacked Iruka-Sensei and the went on to say I was the kyubi. Iruka then took a shuriken meant for me and I ran."

"Did you see or hear anything else after that?"

"Well after a little while, I heard them talking about the kyubi and how Iruka-Sensei didn't seem me as the kyubi." He answered nervously, scratching the back of his neck.

"After that, the report says that you then went on to create approximately 500 shadow clone who the used Genin level taijutsu against Mizuki. Do you think that's correct?"

"I don't know. I was too angry that he tried to kill Iruka-Sensei."

"I see. You said you were used to people talking about you. How long has it been going on?"

"For as long as I could remember I guess."

"What did you think about this at first?"

"Think about what?" Naruto stalled.

"The whispering."

"Oh that. Well at first I didn't understand it."

"Any other thoughts about it?"

"Well not really. I was a trouble maker and it only made sense."

"Well I'd like to move on to something I noticed when you were talking about the kyubi. You always referred to it as such. Why?"

"What else would I call the Kyubi?"

"Well most people refer to the kyubi as 'it', 'the demon', and other similar titles. Why don't you."

"I know how hurtful those names can be." Inoichi's eyes widened at the compassion the boy showed for a demon that has killed hundreds in the past.

"Does this mean you've been called that before."

"Well yea."

"Hmm. I guess I better start with the second part now. Just to warn you, everything that I see, you'll see as well. It's like we're both taking a tour of your mind. You can tell me to stop if you want to. Just tell me."

"Well I guess that's okay."

"Alright. Here we go." Inoichi warned, casting several hand signs before silently activating the Jutsu.

Suddenly, Naruto awoke in a sewer like landscape. He'd been here before countless times to meet with the kyubi. Looking around, he noticed the man mentally taking note of things that were around.

"Interesting. We should move around to go and see if we can find some of your memories."

Nodding, he let Inoichi take the lead as they walked around, stopping every so often so that the man could take things in. Arriving at a set of doors, he saw that a good number of them had high level seals on them and he looked away from the man's curious stare.

"Do you know why these seals are here?"

"No. I haven't been here before."

Naruto watched as the man seemed to take things into consideration.

"What do you know of memory storage?"

"Well nothing. We didn't cover it class, or if we did then I wasn't paying attention." Naruto admitted.

"You're right they don't cover it at the academy. Well, individual memories are like doors on a hall way. The quality of each memory is represented by the ware the door gets, better quality memories have better quality doors while more fuzzy memories usually have doors which are broken down."
He explained to which Naruto nodded.

"How ever, the door can also represent the type of memory. Such as the darker the door, the darker the memory, the bigger the door, the bigger impact the memory left." Naruto followed Inoichi's gaze around the doors to see that the sealed doors, while average sized were pitch black. The doors that weren't sealed were mostly dark grays.

"Naruto. Do you want to explain or do I have to find out for myself?" He asked to which the boy in question turn away, apparently in shame.

One sigh later and he watched Inoichi opened the closest door. It was a larger than average sized medium grey door in an alright condition, a little rusted but other wise normal. After signaling for him to follow, the man entered and found himself outside the Konoha orphanage. A few seconds later, the door burst open and a small boy, no older than four was literally kicked out of the orphanage.

"And don't come back you little demon." A middle aged man yelled before slamming the door in the little whiskered boy's face.

" I only wanted dinner for once." The little boy grumbled just as his stomach growled in need of food. Upon closer inspection, the boy was drastically under weight, skin and bones mostly.

Inoichi looked at the real Naruto who was sagging and looking embarrassed. Frowning, he found himself really wondering if he knew the boy at all. This whole investigation the boy hadn't done anything that had really earned him the title of loudmouth. Unpredictable, yes, surprising, yes.

The next memory was a through a darker door and once inside, Naruto was having trouble keeping his breathing in check. In front of him was his five year old self being attacked by the villagers who were using glass and old, rusted kunais to inflict harm. He didn't look at Inoichi as he knew the man would view him like trash just like everyone else.

"Let's leave a reminder of what you are." He heard on of the offenders cheer before another another let held him face down so that they could have space to carve the words 'demon', 'monster', and 'murderer' onto his younger self's back.

They soon had enough but not before reminding the boy that they'd be back next week.

After leaving the memory, they went to investigate the seal one of the sealed memories. He noticed two seals. One was a seal that the average seals user couldn't decipher and Inoichi was no seals expert. The second seal was an actual physical seal consisting of chakra chains. Needless to say, he guessed the man recognized the technique.

"By any chance, do you know who your parents are?"

"No. Why?" Naruto replied, once again suspicious.

"Nothing. It's just that this seamed like a familiar Jutsu."

"Oh that's okay." He seemed to relax, like he was still hiding things.

"I think we're done. From what I've already seen, I don't wish to see anything else." The man informed and after a silent sigh front the boy, he cancelled the Jutsu and wrote down everything of interest and importance.
