epilogue 3

It's been over a year and a half. Wooyoung has his last trial today. The news broke out that they had found Sans body a few weeks after Wooyoung was found. The boy was gone and he didn't know whether to be happy or nervous about it.

Scientists claim San had been passed on for at least 3 weeks seeing as rigor mortis fully hit his body and body temperature. He was already dead by the time they found Wooyoung.

Wooyoung remembers the day he was saved so vividly. He remembered seeing San in the ambulance. He still hears Sans voice occasionally reminding him that he's still here.

"Jung Wooyoung will be placed in xxx mental asylum till he shows full recovery case closed." everyone stood up and bowed. He didn't mind being placed in there. He wanted this. He wanted to be normal again.

He tried to ignore the stares he received and tried blocking out the whispers. Some had felt bad for the boy while others didn't. He walked up to the victim's families with tears in his eyes as he bowed and apologized. Some of them understood it wasn't all his doing. The others respected his apology but still felt a certain way.

"You think you'll get better?" this time it was his voice talking. He shook his head and stood up with his lawyer. Yeosang and the rest had joined the last case.

Yeosang had come clean to their friends. They had taken a while to come around but eventually, they went on to get information. They felt horrible about what San had done. They felt bad for not noticing Wooyoungs suffering. They couldn't turn back time and sadly, this outcome was for the best.

"I'll be visiting every day alright? make sure to behave so you can get out sooner." Yeosang said hugging Wooyoung tightly. Wooyoung only nodded against his shoulder and wrapped his arms around his friend. Everyone soon joined in the hug making Wooyoung cry.

"I'm sorry." was all he could say. The others gave a sad smile and Wooyoung was off to begin a newer road to recovery.

I took forensics in high school, I don't know if I worded it right in the story so I'll explain rigor mortis below (:

rigor mortis is when your joints and muscles stiffen after your death. it lasts only a couple of hours/days (one of those or both I don't exactly remember sorry!) then the body is completely stiffened. Forensic scientists use this to determine what day/ how long a person has been deceased (:
