Daddy.
It's thundering really loud and I'm just trying not to fall asleep while watching Finn on Jimmy Fallon
Millie's pov
"We back!" Gaten yelled, which woke me up from sleeping with my head against the van window.
"We are dropping Millie and Finn off first." Caleb said, and I nodded, taking my headphones out and wrapping them up, getting the things I can together.
We were listening to Magic in the Hamptons and Gaten and Noah were singing it so loudly.
Caleb pulled into my driveway, and Finn and I got out, and grabbed our bags. We said bye to everyone, and Caleb drove away. I looked to Finn, and he looked back.
"I had fun." I said, and he smiled.
"I'm glad you did." He said, and I lightly laughed.
"You're the first person who's ever made me experience things I haven't before." I said, and he furrowed his eyebrows.
"Like risks. Jumping off the cliff, doing the bungee jump-
"Oh." He said, and I nodded.
"Well I'll see you at school on Monday?" I asked him, and he smiled and nodded.
"Okay. Bye Mills." He said, and I smiled.
"Bye Finn." I said, and he turned and walked to his house, as I walked into mine.
I opened the door to hear my mom and Ava talking, and they saw me.
"Millie!!" Ava yelled, running to hug me. I laughed, and my mom came over and hugged me.
"How was the trip?" She asked, and I smiled.
"It was super fun. I got closer with everyone too." I said, and she smiled.
"That's good." She said, and I nodded.
"So what'd you do while I was gone?" I asked Ava, and she pulled me to the couch, to talk about it.
"Well I still had school so I went there and I learned the names of the month!" She said, and I smiled.
"What are they?" I asked.
"January, Febary, March, April, May, June, July, August, September, Octer, November, and December!!!" She said, and I laughed.
"You said Febary and octer. It's February and October." I said, and she groaned.
"I swear I had it yesterday!" She said, and I laughed.
"My birthday is on Saturday Millie!" She said, and I nodded.
"What are you gonna do?" I asked, and she smiled.
"I wanna have Bri over, and I want you to have Finn over." She said, and I furrowed my eyebrows.
"Why do you want Finn over?" I asked.
"Because, I have a wish." She said, and I furrowed my eyebrows.
"What wish?" I asked.
"A wish, when you blow out the candles! I have one. And I want to tell him my wish." She said, and I laughed.
"Okay I'll ask if he wants to." I said, and she smiled.
"It's gonna be the best birthday ever." She said, and I laughed.
"The big 0-7?" I asked, and she laughed.
"Yes! I really wanna see what mom and dad are getting me!" She said, and I raised my eyebrows.
"What do you think they got you?" I asked, and she smiled.
"Hopefully earrings." She said.
"Your ears aren't even pierced." I said, and she smiled.
"Well maybe I can get them pierced for a birthday present." She said, and I smiled.
"Maybe." I said, and she yelled, cheering. I laughed.
-
"Millie, can you come here?" I heard my mom yell, and I walked out of my room into hers, sitting down on the bed.
"What?" I asked, curious.
"Your father is coming home on Friday." She said, and my heart dropped.
I shook my head no.
"Millie, he lives here. He has to come home." She said, and I shook my head no again.
"If he lives here where else is he staying? At some girls house?" I asked, and she sighed.
"Mom, you know it's true." I said, and she nodded.
"I know, I know. But if he leaves this family, a lot of money will be leaving with us." She said, and I shook my head.
"He quit his job and became an alcoholic! How the hell are we losing money from him leaving? We should be gaining money because he's using yours on all the fucking alcohol he drinks." I said, and she sighed.
"Millie, don't talk about your father like that." She said, and I shook my head.
"He's not my father, especially when he thinks I'm a mistake." I said, and she shook his head.
"He doesn't think that." She said, and I looked at her.
"Yes, he does. He's literally said it to my face." I said, crossing my arms.
"He was drinking." She said, and I rolled my eyes.
"A drunks words is a sober mans thoughts." I said, and she looked at me.
"Millie, your father is coming home on Friday, and that's that. You need to see him, you haven't seen him in a couple weeks." She said, and I got up and shook my head, and walked to my room, locking the door.
I slid down my door, and started to cry. I could feel the tears welling up in my eyes since I went in there.
I wish I could have a real dad. A good dad.
He's done horrible things to me.
Flashback
I walked into the house, my mom at work and Ava at preschool. My dad is home. I left school early because I couldn't handle all of the bullying.
I walked up the stairs very quietly, and was waking down the hall to my room, before I heard footsteps behind me.
"What do you think you're doing?" My dad asked me, and I turned around to him, and looked up at him.
"The kids are mean at school." I said, and he got closer to me.
"You need to start going a full day in school." He said, and he picked up a piece of my hair.
"Yes, daddy." I said, and looked down.
I'm 15. He makes me call him daddy. It's weird, I don't know why. If I don't, I get scared at what he might do. Maybe it's a respect thing.
"Don't let them do this to your hair, Millie." He said, looking at the knots in it. It was at least as low as my breast.
"Yes, daddy." I said, and his hand left my hair, going down to the end of my shirt, and lifting it up.
"Don't daddy. Please." I said, tears welling up in my eyes, and looked up to him.
His hand traveled all the way up to my bra, but then went back down, pulling my shirt down.
"Wear longer shirts to school, Millie. Boys will stare." He said, and I let out a shaky breath.
"Yes daddy." I said softly, and he walked back into his room, and I walked into my room, shutting the door and locking it, crying.
I heard my phone ring, bringing me out of my memory.
I checked it and saw that Caleb texted in the group chat.
Caleb: everyone home Okay?
I replied, and so did everyone else.
I took my meds, showered, brushed my hair and teeth, and laid down in my bed.
But I couldn't go to sleep. For some reason, I felt a feeling I don't usually get in my bed at night.
Loneliness.
I don't usually get that feeling, because I was so used to it I didn't feel it. I guess sleeping with Finn every night showed me that loneliness is a horrible feeling.
I like the way he held me when I slept, it felt like I was protected, and cared for.
It was amazing.
But that's gone now. Now, I have to deal with this new emotion that Finn gave me.
Loneliness.
