1 = Getting Off Your Ass
"Haru... aruna...!" A distant voice shouted.
'Loud...' a man thought.
"Haruna...!"
'...who the hell are they yelling at? Just get closer...' They complained.
"Haruna!"
The man recoiled and opened his eyes, before being blinded by the sudden intake of sunlight.
Wincing in pain, the man realized he had awoken in the ground of someone's office. Hearing someone's dissatisfied sigh, the man rubbed his eyes and looked up, seeing a tall girl with long ears, silky black hair, and blue eyes, covered by spectacles.
Her uniform was tight, and modeled her body almost too nicely, but the girl didn't seem to mind as she crouched down, taking the man's chin in her palm.
"Awake, I see." The girl observed, standing up and dropping his head back down to the ground.
"Falling asleep after only five minutes of waiting. How impatient must you be." The girl closed her eyes and watched the man stand up in a daze.
He stood an inch shorter than her, and she looked at him with a stern gaze.
"Gather yourself and focus. I'll explain the current situation again." The girl pat his clothes and tried to make him look presentable.
"My name is Nanakami Rin. I am a General Student Council officer from Kivotos, the Academy City," the girl gestured to herself.
"You, are Haruna Sensei, a teacher we summoned from beyond. Or so it would seem. You did just suddenly materialize out of nowhere just a while ago." Rin explained.
"I understand this must be very confusing to you—"
"No, I think I get the gist..." Haruna replied, crossing his arms with a nod.
"Is that so... That makes one of us." Rin smiled, catching Haruna off guard.
"Well, if you will follow me," Rin turned on her heels and toward the office door. Haruna was quick to follow, and trailed after her as she walked out.
"I'm in need of assistance. Your assistance. It determines the fate of the city..." Rin said with a dire tone.
"I'm all ears." Haruna replied.
•
Rin guided Haruna to an elevator, and he saw the city she spoke of...
It was beautiful.
It was beyond anything his memories had happened to recall, like something out of a dream. The pretty sparkles of the glass from the rings of stars up above visible in the light of day.
Haruna awed, not realizing just how close he was to the glass of the elevator.
Rin laughed at his childish antics, making him flinch, clear his throat, before standing back beside her.
"Welcome to Kivotos, Haruna." She began. "Kivotos is a massive city, home to thousands of different academics. This is where you'll be working from now on. It's bound to be very different from the place you call home, and you might find it difficult to fit in at first... but something tells me that you will make it here just fine." Rin smiled, making Haruna rub his nape in confusion.
"You were chosen by the General Student Council President after all." Rin mumbled to herself.
The elevator beeped, and the two turned to the doors to leave.
The two walked out, before entering a massive lobby with white and black furniture. Sitting around were three girls left to their own devices in the lounge area at the forefront of the large room.
"There you are, Acting President! We've been waiting! Get the real President in here already..." A girl with purple hair in two pigtails and hair down to her mid-back shouted.
She wore a black blazer and a white dress shirt underneath, a electric blue tie under the collar, and a puffy white coat over her shoulders.
What stood out to Haruna was the black, metallic halo over her head.
This was Yuuka, a seminar for the Millennium Student Council.
"Wait, who's that guy beside you?" Yuuka questioned.
Another girl approached the two, much taller than everyone else. She had silky long black hair all the way down past her rear. Her uniform was that of a school girl, black in color with red accents. The halo above her head was red with four crests on the outside and a diamond in the center.
This was Hasumi of the Justice Task Force.
"I've been waiting to see you, Chief Officer." Hasumi greeted.
A third, and final, girl approached. Her hair was a light pink-blonde in two low ponytails that rested over her shoulders. She had red glasses that covered yellow eyes, adorned with a black ribbon on top of her head, rested above her fringe.
Her uniform consist of a frilly white button up that was tucked under a black dress that covered her midriff. She wore a red and black sash over her left arm and held a bag that was zipped shut.
Her halo resembled a massive, red crosshair.
This was Chinatsu of Team Perfect.
"I'm here to meet with the General Student Council President. The Head Perfect has terms she would like to discuss." Chinatsu stated.
Swarmed with the sudden call for the missing President, Rin frowned with closed eyes.
"This timing is rather inconvenient..." Rin muttered to herself, but Haruna was close enough to hear.
Switching to a much more friendly appearance, Rin addressed the three.
"Hello, guests that represent neighboring academies' student councils, disciplinary boards, and those who otherwise have too much time on their hands. I am well aware why you irksom— I mean, important representatives have come here today." Rin began.
"Nice save." Haruna whispered.
"You're here to blame us for the fuss happening in the academy city. Isn't that right?" Rin asked, the closed-eye smile on her face hiding the irritation she felt.
"If you're well aware, then do something! You represent the General Student Council after all! Thousands of academy districts are in panic! Our academy's wind generator shut down just a few days ago!" Yuuka complained, hands on her hips.
"There are also rumors that a student under the Federal Corrections Bureau's custody has escaped." Chinatsu added.
A fourth girl had appeared, spooking Haruna as she stood by his side, "There has also been a sharp increase in the number of thugs attacking our students on their way to school. Public safety is not being properly enforced."
This girl was Suzumi of Trinity Academy's Vigilante Crew.
Her uniform was light grey with a black corset. Her hair was long and silver, and a small wing protruded from the back of her head. Her red eyes contrast the luminous purple, double ringed halo with four arrows around it.
"Illegal distribution of tanks, choppers, and other unknown weapons have increased by over 2000 percent. At this rate, ordinary school life at Kivotos will be a thing of the past." Hasumi continued.
Rin's silent but peeved gaze made Yuuka scoff.
"And what of the General Student Council President? What's she doing during such a sorry state of affairs? I demand to see her this instant!" Yuuka sternly requested.
Rin sighed, before looking up with a blank stare.
"The President has gone missing." She revealed.
"What?!" Yuuka recoiled back in shock, as did most of the others.
"So the rumors were true..." Hasumi hummed.
"Allow me to elaborate. The General Studeny Council has no authority because the top administrator of Sanctum Tower has gone missing. We had been searching for a way to bypass the need for verification, all to no avail." Rin explained, but paused to say, "Until recently."
"You mean you've found a way now, Chief Officer?" Hasumi questioned.
Rin nudged Haruna, making him step forward.
"Haruna-Sensei is the answer to our problems." Rin replied.
Everyone gave confused, yet intrigued stares, skeptical of how the man would solve the problems they listed.
"This person?" Hasumi said with doubt.
"Hold on, who is this guy anyway? What's he supposed to do?" Yuuka asked with skepticism. "Whoever they are, they don't seem to be from Kivotos." Hasumi responded, noticing the lack of a halo above his head.
"This is Haruna-Sensei. Not only will he be teaching in Kivotos, he's been personally selected by the General Student Council President." Rin nodded.
"The President chose him...? Things are making less and less sense." Yuuka gave her snide remark.
"Nice to meet everyone." Haruna greeted with a wave.
"R...Right. It's good to meet you, Sensei. I'm Millennium Science School's— Wait, we have bigger problems!" Yuuka stopped her introduction with a groan.
"Don't worry about that annoying girl— let's move on." Rin smiled brightly to Haruna, making Yuuka's eye twitch.
"Who are you calling annoying?! It's Hayase Yuuka! Remember the name, Sensei!" Yuuka intervened, pulling Haruna back towards the four.
Pulling him back, Rin continued. "You're here to serve as the advisor for a club that was formed by the General Student Council President. The Federal Investigation Club: Schale.
It's a federal club, a type of extrajudicial organization, so you'll be allowed to register students from any of the academies in Kivotos. Under your supervision, they can perform battle activities without restriction." She explained.
"How and why the President would create such a powerful organization... I don't know." She muttered, before placing a hand on Haruna's shoulder.
"The Schale club room is about 30 kilometers from here. The building is furnished at the least, but relatively empty. Although, at the President's request, something was delivered and stored in the basement. It's my job to take you there." Rin informed.
"Momoka. I need a helicopter to take us to Schale club room." Rin requested, placing a hand against her ear.
"The Schale club room? In the outskirts? Things are kinda... crazy over there." A girl replied.
"What do you mean crazy?" Rin asked with concern.
"A suspended student escaped from the Corrections Bureau and is wreaking havoc. It's a battlefield over there right now!" The girl shouted, sounding worried herself. "They rallied all the thugs in the area and are destroying everything in their path to get revenge on the General Student Council— I hear they've even got a Crusader Tank!" She sounded as if she was watching.
"It seems they're trying to occupy the Schale building. Maybe they think something of value is inside." She added. "Eh, not like it matters. Oh, great! My food's here! Talk to you later!"
Rin's irritation rose once more as the comms cut off. She took a deep breath and crossed her arms.
"Are you okay?" Haruna asked, worried that things were growing to be too much for her.
"No, no... It's just a minor setback." Rin said with a smile, but it soon turned into a smirk.
"...Why are you staring at us?" Yuuka asked, seeing the smile she gave the four girls.
"It's so reassuring to have you trustworthy academy representatives here with us." Rin began.
"Huh?" They wondered.
"We're going to need your help to bring peace back to Kivotos. Let's go." Rin walked past them and towards the entrance.
"What?! Where are we going—"
•
Haruna was hiding in a trash can as Yuuka held up a forcefield, aiming a black and blue SMG at enemies under cover around the wrecked street.
"Ugh! Why do we have to be the ones to fight them?!" Yuuka shouted, dashing away from enemy fire and behind a car.
Chinatsu was crouched beside Haruna's trashcan aiming her fire arm at the thugs down the sidewalk.
"Rin said defending the club room is paramount if they're to regain control of Sanctum Tower." Chinatsu reminded.
"Why is busywork like this falling on to me?!" Yuuka rolled over the hood of the car and kicked a thug attempting ambush her, before spraying the last of her clip into their body.
She flipped back over the car as a grenade landed at her feet, making the car shake as she returned to cover.
A stray bullet hit Haruna's trashcan, sending it flying and revealing Chinatsu. In response, she rolled away and behind the same car as Yuuka.
Haruna flew out of the trashcan, but held tightly to the lid as he was flung across the street, luckily far enough away to be in anyone's sights.
'What the fuck kind of isekai is this?!' Haruna thought as he slowly got to a crouch.
Hasumi landed beside Haruna with a stoic glare, aiming down the sights of her rifle and taking out a line of three thugs rushing Yuuka and Chinatsu.
"We need to remember that Haruna-Sensei is here with us." Hasumi scolded, extending massive, black angel wings and launching into the air.
She landed with Haruna beside the two and set him down gently. "His safety is our top priority. Reclaiming that building will come second."
"Hasumi is right. Sensei isn't from Kivotos. Unlike us, a single bullet could put Sensei in grave danger. Don't forget that." Chinatsu agreed.
"I know that...! Stay back, Sensei. We'll take care of this—"
Yuuka was cut off when a shadow loomed over them.
A girl in an ornamental fox mask and a black uniform with floral print sleeves aimed down her sights, right at Haruna.
"Found you." She muttered, before a loud bang was heard across the city.
