PSALMS.
(a lone star fic)
written by faith.
he calls me by name. . .
IN WHICH, as the one two six is being rebuilt,
Jo Diaz must do the same for herself.
Her heart was worn on her sleeve, and she saw the good in people . . . there was not a bad bone in Joanne Diaz' body. It was like God, himself, created her as a miracle — as a gift to anyone who crossed paths with the woman. She was the exact meaning of her namesake.
Why did she deserve the heartache? What did she do to deserve the torture of living . . . when those she loved did not walk any longer. It shook Austin, hard, when the Fertilizer Plant exploded and killed most of the entire department . . . they lost good men & women, and families lost their daughters and sons, wives and husbands, and mothers and fathers, and siblings, and friends. It wasn't fair . . . and why did Jo have to live with the torture of the survivors' guilt that sat so heavily on her chest.
To a firefighter, saving others is like breathing air — necessary for their survival, in order to thrive . . . it's a special calling. In reality, despite the hardships that came with being a first responder, Joanne could not imagine being anything other than that. She saved people; that was her reality.
But the only person who really needed saving . . . was herself, and well, that takes time.

author's note; do I love this series with all my heart? yes, I do. one day I had a delicious way to connect both series, and thus Jo was born. this features a lot of Judd and his character and his relationship with Jo, and this is an eventual Paul Strickland fic 🥺 — and there will be many references to the original series
dedications; to all my friends, and additional lovers of the 9-1-1 series 💕 I love you all

updated author's note; hi, welcome back to the rewrite of Pslams! not much has changed, actually, the plot and the characters are all the same, but I made the decision to rewrite Pslams since my writing has improved since the first time I published this book, and I wanted to make each chapter more intimate for my characters and my readers. with all adieu, welcome back! and a huge thank you to all who stayed throughout my random bouts of hiatuses and inspiration. it truly means a lot ❤️
