Introduction
It wasn't the first time she did this to Y/N, but this was the worst. It was pretty often that she would leave her stepdaughter in the car during the summer, winter, or just bad weather, to go play or take her son somewhere. It's understandable why Martha would be so angry- after all, her husband cheated on her and had a daughter with a prostitute that now she has to raise. But it wasn't Y/N's fault for being born into the world, or that her father was unfaithful. Y/N had flirted with death in locked cars many times during summer when Martha would take Mateo to a playground, forcing Y/N to only be able to watch and be jealous. If only the kids' father wasn't at work as much, he'd noticed the abuse for himself.
But this time, as it snowed heavily, Mateo and Martha were together at a nearby playground; Martha helping him snow-glide and make snowmen with the other kids. Y/N sat in the freezing car for an hour at this point and the frostbite nipping at her little purple fingers felt miserable alongside the constant shivering and the cold nipping away at her flesh. She was only six years old, with fuzzy boots and thin pajamas- nothing suitable for the cold.
"M-Martha..." she chattered her teeth as she mumbled, cuddling herself in the back car seat. It hurt too much to talk at this point.
A sudden gush of wind hit her legs out of nowhere, making her gasp and shiver more. Her eyes darted to where it came from- the windows were closed, so where did the wind come from? She furrowed her eyebrows as she sat up on her seat, hugging her arms to her chest as she looked at the now-opened window. Who opened the door and how did she not hear it?
"Mateo..? Martha?" She whimpered as she slowly slid off the car seat and down onto the snow-filled ground. The sound of screaming and laughing of kids could be heard from behind her in the distance, where the entrance of the snow park was. But the way Y/N faced was the direction of the thick woods, covered in thick snow and untouched. But what stood out the most to her was the bright, little wood cabin that was tucked neatly in the woods. Why hadn't she seen it before?
There was a random buzzing in her head, causing her to grab off her frostbitten ears in pain.
"Come. It's warm in here."
The voice came from her head, making her squint her eyes and shake off the buzziness. As she opened her eyes and looked up, she gasped at the sudden tall figure in front of her. There was a tall man, dressed in all black and with skin as white as the snow. But most importantly, he didn't have a face. He bent over in front of her, extending his hand in her direction.
"Come. Do not be afraid."
There was fear written all over the little six-year-old's face as she took a step away from the monstrous man. Her eyes were wide as she pulled herself away. The man slowly cocked his head, before taking his hand back to his side.
"Well. If you wish to freeze to death, there is nothing I can do to stop you." His voice rang loudly in her head, making her whimper. He stood up from his spot, taller than anyone else she'd ever seen before, and turned to walk away.
"W-Wait..!" She weakly said, holding her hand out. The man stopped in his tracks and cocked his head in her direction. She pouted her lip, making a sad face. "I-I just... Martha will be mad if I leave the car. And I-I don't want to get in trouble."
Although expressionless, there was a look of pity on the man's face as he crouched down once more in front of her. "My dear," his voice rang, "come with me. I can show you a way to make sure you will never have to worry about Martha or people like her ever again."
Mixed feelings sprouted on the young girl's worried face. But ultimately, she nodded her head and reached for his hand, to which he held her's the same way that her loving dad did. It was comforting and drained her worries instantaneously as the two began walking towards the cabin. "H-Hey, mister..."
"Please, call me The Operator, Y/N," his voice rang in her head. She furrowed her eyebrows, confused by that kind of name, and nodded her head.
"How are you going to stop Martha from making me in trouble?" the little girl asked, before a sly smile came onto her face. "And... hey, how did you know my name?"
The man opened the cabin door for her, allowing her to step inside and feel the lovely warmth of the giant fireplace and the smell of a warm soup in the kitchen. The girl smiled happily as she let go of his hand and ran to the fireplace. "It's so nice in here!"
"Why the FUCK did you leave her in there alone!"
"Sir, I'm gonna need you to calm down!"
"If you never went and slept with that bitch, this never would have happened!"
"Mom! Where's Y/N!"
"Get the kid."
"Hey, little man, my name is Officer Lindsey and I'm gonna take you to a warm car with hot chocolate, okay?"
"Don't take my son!"
"Ma'am, you're under arrest for child endangerment..."
"Cheif, they found the little girl!"
Eyes turned towards the officer as he held out his little radio. "They found her in an abandoned cabin almost 5 miles out. The same cabin the Charleson family died in. There's no footprints so they don't know how she could've gotten that far on her own, and she won't say how she got there. She said there was no one else with her there either."
