Chapter 2
Mr. Curtis was never a good teacher. Never. He favored the boys and belittled the girls. Today we had an algebra competition boys vs girls. Guess what. He gave hints to the boys and tried to trick the girls. And when the girls did win, He gave the boys 2 extra points to the boys so they could win for "good sportsmanship" emphasis on the man.
I couldn't stand it anymore, it'd been this way all year. I slammed a hand down on my desk and yelled, "MR CURTIS! THIS HAS GONE ON LONG ENOUGH! YOU SEEM TO THINK THAT THE FEMALE 50% OF THE POPULACE IS COMPLETELY WORTHLESS! I CAN AND WILL REPORT THIS TO THE SCHOOL BOARD! DO YOU NOT REALIZE THAT YOUR OWN BOSS IS A WOMAN??" I sat back down and the girls looked shocked and happy.
All the boys were smirking, thinking Mr. Curtis wouldn't listen to me. I just rolled my eyes and flipped them all off.
"Fuckers.. " I mumbled under my breath. I looked over at Naomi Rose, hoping she noticed the outburst. Of course she didn't. She always is drawing in her sketchbook intently, keeping it above her textbook to make it look like she was doing real work. Sigh... She was such an amazing artist and person. Naomi was pretty and a good singer too. I wish we could be friends.
The rest of the day was pretty much the same.. easy shit classes and the kids are all fuckers except for You-Know-Who.
Finally... the talent show was after school in the auditorium. I had my ukulele in one hand and a scrap of paper that held performing tips in the other. I tuned my Ukulele backstage as people started to stream in. I did some of the vocal exercises on the piece of paper. "1, 121, 12321, 1234321, 123454321." I said, trying to speak fast without getting tongue tied.
I turned red as I saw You Know Who looking at me. She walked over and said, "Is that a vocal exercise? I'll probably need to practice before I try to sing an opera scene." "Huh? An Opera scene?" I asked. "Is that what you're performing?" "Yea. Les Miserables, "A Little Fall of Rain", Eponine's death." "OHH That's my favorite scene! Who's playing Marius?" I asked, interested. "My friend Charlotte." She said. "What are you doing?" "I'm playing "Society" by Eddie Vedder accompanied with ukulele."
"NAOMI ROSE AND CHARLOTTE DUHAN WITH A LITTLE FALL OF RAIN, LES MISERABLES." Said a voice from the stage. I watched from the wings as They both took the stage and assumed the right position.
