Chapter 19: Beginning of the End
"I am that which you fear, but dare not say aloud. I am the terrible thoughts in your head. I am the creature that fallows you on a dark lonely nighttime street. I am the beast in the dark corner waiting to pull you in. I am the killer waiting in the back seat. I am your loss of sanity. I am Pariah."
A flock of black birds flew into the sky as the young blond girl rushed past them.
A squad of police cars rushed past young Samantha, toward the huge red mushroom cloud forming behind her.
Sam ran faster than she knew she ever could as her adrenalin carried her further and further from the chaos behind her.
The police cars rolled up to the expanding red cloud. Screams of agony could be heard from inside.
Officer Jim stepped out of his car.
"Alight whoever is making that red foggy stuff, come out with your hands up." The officer yelled into a mega phone.
A young teenager stumbled out from the fog.
"I don't feel so good." The teen said. Then his head ripped open and huge fangs and tentacles burst out of his face. His stomach ripped itself open as a pair of long tentacles slithered out between his ribs that had now formed into teeth. The creature that used to be a young boy gave out a bloodcurdling screech as it clumsily ran toward the army of police officers. The officers opened fire, killing the creature.
More inhuman screams were heard from inside the red mist.
The officers went quiet. Officer Jim's heart raced as he saw the wall of red smoke bellowing into the sky. What the hell is this stuff? He wondered. The wall of smoke was so big that even though Jim and the others were a good 20 to 30 yards away from it, all they could see in front of them was the terrifying red funnel.
Then an army of mutated abominations to hideous to describe came running out of the fog at the officers. They looked like they were once human but their bodies were twisted and mangled beyond recognition, they had spikes, claws, tentacles and teeth growing out of nearly everywhere on their bodies. The cops opened fire. They managed to kill many of the creatures, but there were too many of them. Soon the monsters were on the cops, ripping them to pieces and eating their flesh. The cops that had gotten bitten by the monsters and survived soon turned into horrible monstrosities themselves. Eventually the cops managed to beat back the monsters.
"Is that all?" Asked a female cop named Nancy.
"Nancy, that's one of the things you never say in these types of situations." Jim said.
They all once again fell silent.
"That mist is getting closer." Nancy said. "And I have a feeling we do not want to be in that stuff."
Then that dark figure emerged from the fog. With the back suit, red tie, and black cowboy hat.
The crowd grew so silent they could hear Pariah's dress shoes hitting the pavement as he slowly walked toward them.
Ca-click, ca-click, ca-click.
"Holy shit." Nancy whispered. "That's fucking Pariah! Damn, he does look like that guy from Dazed and Confused."
"I ain't taken any chances with this fucker!" Officer Jim said. "OPEN FIRE!"
The Cops shot a barrage of bullets at Pariah. Pariah raised his hand and created a shield of electromagnetic energy. As the bullets hit the shield they were incinerated and turned into energy that was then absorbed by Pariah.
Pariah then shot powerful bolts of red lightning from his fingers, and blew up the cop cars. Then some armored vehicles rolled up and swat teams came out.
One of the swat guys shot an RPG at Pariah. Pariah caught the rocket in mid air with his hand. Then his jaw came unhinged as his mouth opened wider and wider, revealing rows of razor sharp teeth, and glowing red light coming from his gullet. He shoved the explosive down his own throat and swallowed it. The grenade exploded in his gullet causing his belly to expend then return to normal within seconds. Pariah then let out a loud belch as smoke bellowed out of his mouth.
"Oh you have got to be kidding me." Said officer Jim.
Pariah then threw out his fist, which turned into a large tentacle that smashed though the armored tucks. He lifted the trucks and threw them over his head.
Then a tank rolled in, aiming at Pariah. Pariah raised his hand and the tank broke up into pieces that floated in the air. Pariah closed his hand, and the tank crumpled into a ball of scrap metal.
Two more tanks rolled in. Then the mobile command center (huge armored semi from two chapters ago) plowed through the tanks like paper.
Officer Nancy aimed at Pariah's head with a sniper rifle. "I got a lock on him." She said. "GAH!" she screamed as spikes where shoved through her back.
"Hmm... think again." Said Charlie aka Pestilence, who had snuck up behind her and stabbed her with the blades that his arms had turned into, before consuming the female officer.
Officer Jim had managed to sneak up behind Pariah holding a large combat knife. As Jim swung his arm to stab Pariah, Pariah snapped his fingers, and Jim exploded into a fine pink mist.
A couple of planes flew in, but the mobile command center shot them all down with rockets.
Pariah walked up to the remaining swat guys. He extended his arms and tentacles slithered from his finger tips, wrapped around the swat members consuming them all.
"Give to me, your bodies and your flesh." Pariah said. "For they will serve a greater purpose in my hands."
After consuming the swat team, Pariah plunged his fist into the ground, and huge red tentacles grew from the pavement the size of skyscrapers, and formed into a pulsating red tower of flesh in the middle of a city that was slowly being engulfed by a red cloud that mutated everything it touched.
"It's the end of the world as we know it." Pariah said. "And I feel fine."
...
Lori Loud paced around the living room of the loud house. She was on her phone with a concerned look on her face.
"I can't get a hold of mom." Lori announced.
"Oh no, I hope she's ok." Leni said.
"Did you try getting a hold of Pop Pop?" Lola asked.
"There was no answer at the home." Lori said.
Lana looked out the window at the red mushroom cloud in the distance. "What's happening?" She asked.
"My money says that Pariah guy is behind this." Lucy announced.
Lynn had turned on the TV to see what the news had to say but the only thing she could get on was static, and those colored bars you get when a channel is out.
"I can't get anything on the tv." Lynn announced. "Well aside from Nickelodeon."
"So Mom, Dad, and Pop pop are gone?" Lola said.
"I guess that means the only person around to take care of us is that Alex Mercer guy." Lynn pointed out while watching Spongebob.
"Well there is Aunt Ruth." Lori said.
"I think I would prefer the shapeshifting Anti-Hero." Luna said
"Well there is you." Lincoln said to Lori.
"Me?"
"Yeah, you're almost 18 now." Lincoln said. "And you have plenty of practice taking care of us. You're not as bossy as you used to be. And you're a great leader."
The whole family, aside from Lori, agreed with Lincoln.
"Gee I don't know." Lori said.
"Hey where is Alex Mercer anyway?" Lola asked.
"He said he had to go get something." Lincoln said. "That it was the key to defeating Pariah."
Just then a green portal opened up, and Alex Mercer stepped out, followed by a little surprise.
...
Lynn Loud Sr. closed his eyes preparing for the worst, as he rode in the elevator climbing to the top of Pariah's nightmare tower. Next to him stood Pariah and his henchmen, Albert Wesker, and Charlie Boon. War and Pestilence as Pariah called them. Pariah the demonic mad man who had murdered Lynn's wife, took her face, and threatened his children. Lynn Sr. had made Pariah believe he was willing to join him, in return for the safety of his children. In reality Lynn made a deal with Pariah's enemy Alex Mercer to help bring Pariah down. The enemy of my enemy is my friend.
Pariah had more power than any mortal could comprehend. Wesker provided him with the best weapons and equipment money could buy, and through Wesker Pariah was no able to command the armies of Blackwatch from the shadows. The ex-cop Charlie AKA Pestilence would help Pariah spread his virus, and his influence across the globe. What could Lynn Sr. do as Famine? Presumably he would use his seemingly food based powers to control the masses with their hunger and desires. The thought of doing so was degusting and perverse to Lynn, but what choice did he have? Should he deny Pariah's wishes or do anything to blow his cover, both he and his family would likely be painfully executed. They reached the top floor, and Lynn Sr. prepared himself for what horrors awaited him inside the nightmare tower, which was made of some sort of living flesh. Lynn opened his eyes and his jaw dropped.
The room he was greeted with was absolutely... beautiful. The floors were covered in designer carpeting, the walls seemed to be mad out of some kind of finely crafted wood. A fireplace stood in the center of the room surrounded by comfy decorative furniture. A huge flat screen TV hung on the wall on the other side of the room, and in the corner was a mini bar. It was like some sort of penthouse suite.
"Well what did you expect." Pariah said smugly as he entered the room. "An alien hive?"
Pariah walked over to the large plate glass window, overlooking the city being swallowed by the red cloud of death.
"As the mortals below live a waking nightmare." Pariah said. "We will live like kings. Now tell me..." He looked back at the rest of them. "Who wants champagne?"
...
The Loud sibling's jaws dropped. It was like looking in a mirror. The Loud siblings were standing face to face from their gender bent counterparts.
"Well." Said Loki, breaking the silence. "You know I actually look pretty hot a girl."
"These are the gender bent versions of yourselves." Alex explained. "In their universe the DX 1118 virus, the thing that gives Pariah, and all other evolved their powers, was cured before it could become what we know it as today."
"So in this universe that virus was never cured and evolved into some sort of super bug." Loki said.
"BUG! EW WHERE!" both Loni and Leni said in unison.
"He means bug as in virus." Alex explained.
"Yeah so, why exactly are we here?" Loni asked.
"It seems he wants to use our genes to reverse engineer some sort of cure for the virus, rendering his enemy Pariah powerless so he can beat him." Levi (the male counterpart to Lisa) explained.
"That's exactly right." Alex Mercer said, snapping his fingers giving a thumbs up gesture.
"So... how is this going to help with Linka?" Luke asked.
"I said I could fix your house." Alex said. "I never said anything about your sister."
"What's wrong with your sister?" Leni asked.
"She's dying." Lexx blurted out.
Loki then explained what was going on with Linka.
"That's like what happened with Lincoln." Leni explained. "Accept it was before the whole Pariah thing."
Alex Mercer quick motioned for Leni to stop talking, but Leni clearly did not understand.
"Yeah we were like really sad." Leni said. "But Alex Mercer here was able to make him all better."
Alex facepalmed.
"Wait so that means you can fix Linka too." Loki said.
"No I can't." Alex said. "I used the Mercer virus to cure Lincoln and give him my powers. For whatever reason the people in your dimension can't get the virus. That's the very reason I need you, or at least your blood, in order to create a vaccine. Unfortunately that is also the very reason I cannot help your sister. I'm sorry I really am."
"No you're not." Loki said. "You just want the cure so you can fight that Pariah guy. You don't care what happens to us, or them or anybody else! You just car about yourself, and that dumb rivalry."
Alex remained silent.
"You want my fucking blood! Then take it!" Loki said holding out his arm. Alex then took out a syringe to draw Loki's blood.
"Ok now that you got what you wanted." Loki said. "Just send us home, so we can spend some time with our sister before she..." Loki couldn't finish his sentence, and started crying.
"Loki." Linka said as she walked up to her brother, lightly grabbing his arm. "Loki it's ok, even if he could save me with that virus, I wouldn't want him to, not like that."
Loki sniffled.
"You saw what that monster did in our town, I don't want to become one of those things." She then looked at Alex Mercer. "Uh no offence."
"None taken." Alex said.
"Come on bro." Linka said. "Let's go home." She nodded to Alex.
Alex opened up a portal back the other dimension.
"It was nice meeting you guys." Linka said as she and her brothers disappeared into the portal.
Just then the door swung open and Clyde rushed in.
"LINCOLN!" Clyde yelled. "You wouldn't believe what's happening downtown!"
Lincoln walked up to his friend. "What's going on?"
"There was this thing, and and, stuff started exploding, and zombies!" Clyde started rambling.
Alex looked out the window. "could it have anything to do with that?" Alex pointed to the red mushroom cloud in the distance.
"What is that?" Lori asked.
"Is that a freaking nuke?" Lynn gasped.
"I don't think so." Alex said. "Lincoln why don't you go see what's going on."
"Excuse me." Lori scolded. "Lincoln is only 11, and we just got him out of a terrible situation. I'm not about to let him wonder into another one."
"He may be 11." Alex said. "But he's also one of the most powerful creatures on this planet, and he's on our side."
"You're stronger than he is, why can't you go?"
"I need to stay here to help create the cure for the Mercer virus."
"Lisa can do that."
"Yeah she's like wicked smart." Leni chimed in.
"Lisa may be smart, but not smart enough." Alex said. "I've worked with this virus before, I know how it ticks, how it works, if anyone's gonna make a cure for this thing..."
"Guys, it's ok." Lincoln said. "I can handle this. I'll just go see what's going on, help in any way I can, and come right back here, I promise."
Lori knelt down to look Lincoln in the eye. "If you get into trouble there, you call us right away, ok."
"Ok."
"We've already lost you once, I don't want to lose you again." Lori said, then she wrapped her arms around Lincoln to hug him. "Be careful little brother."
"I will."
"Can I help?" Clyde asked.
"Hmm..." Lincoln though for a moment. Then he went to the garage and found a machete. "I wonder." He held the machete out, and tendrils grew from his hand and wrapped around the large knife. Lincoln's tendrils fused to the knife, the same way Alex's did with a shot gun earlier.
The machete grew longer, stronger, and sharper until it closer resembled a katana used by ninjas and samurai. The blade was black, with a red stripe running across the middle of it. The handle had grown fleshy red spikes on the top and bottom, but with a smooth spot in the middle to hold onto it.
Lincoln handed the organic sword to Clyde.
"See what this can do." Lincoln said.
Clyde grabbed it. Seconds later Clyde started to scream as the bio mass that had bound to the blade started to grow into Clyde's flesh.
"What's happening?!?!" Clyde yelled as spikes started to grow along his arm.
"I don't know! Get rid of it!" Lincoln yelled grabbing at the blade. Clyde then tossed the blade as far as he could. The spikes on his arm still remained.
Clyde panicked for a moment, then the sword came flying back to Clyde's hand.
"That can't be good!" Lincoln yelled "I'm so sorry Clyde I had no idea what would happen! I'll get Alex, maybe he can fix this."
"Wait a minute." Clyde said, Then he threw the sword again. He held out his hand and the blade came flying back to him. "I... I'm like Thor! I can just throw this thing, and call it back."
"So you're ok then?"
"Yeah, this is actually kind of cool."
"Ok." Lincoln breathed a sigh of relief. "Then let's go be heroes."
...
Pariah, Wesker, Charlie, and Lynn Sr. headed into a secret underground bunker, near Pariah's nightmare tower.
"If we're gonna be the Horsemen." Wesker said, as they entered a State of the art garage. "We'll need horses." He turned on a light, to reveal 4 Ford Mustangs in the center of the room. Each Mustang was a different color. Red for Albert Wesker as War, green for Charlie as Pestilence, black for Lynn Sr. as Famine, and white for Pariah as Death.
Pariah walked up to his new car. "And I looked and behold, a pale horse, the name it said on him was Death, and Hell fallowed with 'em" Pariah said. "So aside from looking really cool, what can these babies do?"
Wesker gave an evil smile as he explained what the cars could do.
Lynn Sr. took this opportunity to sneak away from the group. Once he was safe, he took out his cell phone and texted Alex Mercer.
Lynn Sr.: Alex, you there?
Alex: Yes I'm here. What news have you?
Lynn Sr.: They have mustangs!
Alex: Horse or Car?
Lynn Sr.: Car, but these are no ordinary mustangs. You should hear what they can do, it's like something out of a James Bond movie. This Albert Wesker guy is like the evil version of Q.
Alex: Interesting. They're probably going to use them as some sort of assault vehicles.
Lynn Sr.: And you should see the Semi they have, they call it the Mobile Operation Center. The thing has armor, weapons, and everything, and it's massive! Also Pariah has this huge tower that he uses as his base of operations. From the outside it looks like it's made of pure nightmares, but on the inside man is it one nice crib. Like one of those bachelor pads rich guys have. Are my kids ok?
Alex: They're fine, they're helping me create a cure for the Mercer Virus. Once we make that cure we can take away Pariah's powers and kill him.
Lynn Sr.: As long as my kids are safe.
Alex: They are, you have my word Lynn, I will look after them until you get back.
Lynn Sr.: Thanks, between this and helping Lincoln, you have done a lot for my family. I hope this doesn't sound weird, but I kind of like to think of you as a friend.
Alex: Uh... thanks.
Lynn Sr.: I'm kind of scared here, what if Pariah figures out what I'm doing. How much longer do you want me to spy on these guys.
Alex: You're done, I think I have all the information I need. Find a window to escape, text me your location when you get out, and I'll find you.
Lynn Sr.: Thank you so much.
"Can I help you?" Pariah interrupted, sneaking up behind Lynn Sr.
"Pariah!" Lynn Sr. Shrieked. "Wh-what are you doing here?"
"Better question is, what are you doing here?" Pariah asked. "You just snuck off as War was showing us what he made for us, out of the goodness of his heart."
"Sorry about that, I uh... had to pee."
"This isn't the way to the bathroom."
"I got lost." Lynn Sr. said.
"Tell me, Famine, are you hiding something from me?" Pariah said, moving his face closer to Lynn Sr.
"Of course not." Lynn Sr. said.
"Come join me and the others." Pariah said. "We need to talk about something."
"About what?" Lynn Sr. said, sweat dripping down his face.
"Relax, you're not in trouble." Pariah said.
The two of them walked back into the garage. Once in there he pushed Lynn Sr. to the ground.
"What the?" Lynn Sr. said.
"Gentlemen." Pariah said. "We have a traitor in our midst."
"What, how did you? You said I wasn't in trouble." Lynn Sr. protested.
"I lied." Pariah smirked.
"How did you?"
"I can read minds Lynn." Pariah said. "I could hear your thoughts as you were back there texting Alex Mercer. This whole day of a matter of fact, your brain has been screaming that it hopes I don't find you out. Don't worry I did get some use out of you. I had the boys in Black Watch hack your phone so I could see everything you said with it. Now I know that Dr. Mercer is working on a cure for the Mercer Virus! I also know, that he's with your kids right now."
"DON'T YOU DARE TOUCH MY KIDS!" Lynn Sr. yelled. His arm then turned into a blade.
"Oh what? You standing up to me now?" Pariah said.
Lynn Sr. then swung his blade arm at Pariah, who turned his arm to a shield to block Lynn's attack. Pariah the turned his other arm into claws and slashed across Lynn's chest, sending bits of black blood in the air. Pariah then turned the first arm from a shield to a hammer fist and punched Lynn in the chest sending him flying backwards into the black ford mustang.
Lynn Sr. got back up. "I'm not afraid of you." Lynn Sr. said.
"We had a deal Lynn." Pariah said. "You help me, and I don't touch your kids. You went back on that deal, and now you gotta pay. Starting with those powers I gave you." Pariah held out his hand, Lynn Sr. screamed in pain as a black mist came from his body and into Pariah's hand. Lynn Sr.'s arms turned back to normal, and his blood went from black to red as his powers were drained, and he was once again human.
Lynn Sr. fell to the ground and looked up at Pariah. Quickly Lynn Sr. got into the black ford mustang behind him and started the engine. He drove forward straight into Pariah, knocking the mutant to the ground. Lynn Sr. then drove his way out of the compound and away as fast as he could.
Pariah got back to his feet and snapped his bones back into place.
"Should we go after him?" Charlie asked.
"No don't worry about it. He's human now, he won't get far." Pariah said.
...
A bus full of terrified survivors rushed over the bridge out of town and into Royal Woods. Among the survivors was Sam, still shaken from what she had been through.
As the bus got off the freeway just outside Royal Woods, it was stopped by one of the large dog like creatures known as Brawlers. The monster roared and the passengers screamed.
Just then Lincoln and Clyde stepped between the monster, and the bus. Lincoln was in his Ace Savvy costume, while Clyde was dressed as his sidekick One Eyed Jack.
"Halt beast!" Lincoln said in a heroic voice as he puffed out his chest and held his hand toward the brawler.
Sam poked her head out of one of the windows on the bus. "Lincoln!?!? What the heck are you doing here? Get out of here! That thing will tear you to shreds!"
Lincoln turned around. "Hi Sam!" He smiled as he waved to his sister's friend. Then the Brawler smacked Lincoln with its enormous claws sending him flying into a nearby mail box.
"LINCOLN!" Both Sam and Clyde shrieked. Then the brawler turned to Clyde and raised its paw, ready to strike.
Lincoln then turned his arms into claws and leapt at the brawler. He landed on the back of the brawler's neck and started scratching at it like a rabid raccoon. He jammed his claws into the brawler's eyes as it thrashed about. Clyde then threw his sword into the chest of the brawler, and Lincoln swung off of the brawler's neck, with his claws still buried deep in its eye sockets. Lincoln used his own weight and momentum to bring the brawler to the ground, flat on its back. Clyde called the sword back to his hand as Lincoln used his claws to rip the brawler's throat out. The brawler gave a few more grunts, then died.
"Great team work buddy!" Lincoln said as his arms turned back to normal.
"Clyncoln Mcloud forever!" Clyde said, the two bumped fists, and the crowd on the bus cheered.
Lincoln and Clyde walked to the bus.
"Is everyone ok?" Lincoln asked.
"Lincoln that was amazing!" Sam said.
"You're like a real live superhero!" Said another person on the bus.
"Just doing my duty." Lincoln said. "With great power comes great responsibility."
"You just stole that from Spider-man!" Said one of the people on the bus.
"That doesn't make it any less true." Lincoln responded.
Then they heard an inhuman cry from behind the bus. Lincoln looked in horror to see a horde of Zombies, sprinting toward the bus.
"Oh no!" The bus driver yelled "The engine stopped working, it won't turn on."
Where's Lana when you need her? Lincoln thought.
...
Back at the house, Lisa and Alex Mercer worked on creating a cure for the mercer virus.
"At this rate we'll have the cure ready in no time." Lisa said. "Of course we'll need to mass produce it to cure all those infected with the Mercer Virus."
"As long as we have enough to inject into Pariah." Alex said.
"Hey Alex, can I talk to you?" Leni said as she poked her head around the corner.
"Uh sure yeah what's up?" Alex said.
"Go ahead and talk to Leni." Lisa said. "My machines need to scan this sample of the male Lori's blood, and that sample of you own infected blood you gave me. That may take a few moments. Maybe you should get better acquainted with my siblings, it's unclear how long we will be working together. Might be a long time."
"Alright." Alex said. "And by the way, the male Lori's name is Loki."
"Like the Nordic god?" Lisa said.
"I guess so."
"If anything I would have thought the male Luan would be the one named after the Norse god of mischief."
...
Alex and Leni walked out into the hallway.
"So like, when you make this cure, will it like, hurt Lincoln?" Leni asked.
"Lincoln?" Alex said.
"Yeah, I assume we plan to turn Lincoln back to normal." Leni said. "But, what I worry about is like, before he was infected and turned into, well whatever kind of creature you are, no offense. He was like all dead and stuff. What if this virus is like, the only thing keeping him alive? What if we cure him, and he dies?"
"In all honesty I haven't really thought about that." Alex said. "I don't think it'll kill him. But it might. Ironically science isn't always an exact science. Most of the time all we really have are theories, and theories change all the time as we find new evidence."
"Well, maybe we shouldn't cure him." Leni suggested. "You said you're not sure what it'll do to him, and I don't want to risk losing my brother again."
"Maybe we should see what he thinks." Alex said.
"Maybe." Leni said.
"Maybe you should go see if Lincoln needs help, while Lisa's scanning those blood samples." Lucy interrupted.
"GAH!" Alex jumped. "Gee you're a quiet one, didn't even know you were back there."
"Yeah, I have that affect on people." Lucy explained. "Now about my brother."
"Don't worry he can handle himself. And I need to stay here for now, I don't know when Lisa will be done scanning those samples, and she'll need my further help reverse engineering a cure" Alex explained.
"Well that seems a bit convenient for you." Lucy said.
"Uh yeah." Alex said. Then something caught his eye. He saw Lynn in her room sitting on her bed, staring at the ground with a vacant expression.
"What's wrong with Lynn Jr." Alex asked.
"She's been through a lot I guess." Lucy said.
"We all have." Leni said.
Alex walked into the room. "Hey kid, you alright?"
Lynn didn't answer.
"I see you wanna be left alone, I should go see if..."
"I killed someone." Lynn said.
"Back at Umbrella?"
"That man had a family. I heard him talking to his wife on the phone, he had a daughter." Lynn said. "And I... killed him."
Alex sat next to Lynn. "You mean the guy who shot Luna?"
"How do you live with it?" Lynn asked. "How do you go on after ending another human life?"
"Wow that's a tough question kid, even for me." Alex answered.
"I'm a monster." Lynn said softly.
Alex turned his head to the side like a curious dog. Alex Mercer was a being with inhuman powers straight out of anyone's worst nightmares, and has created a pile of bodies in his wake that could reach the top of the tallest sky scrapers. Yet here he was listening to this young girl call HERSELF a monster. It was... strange to say the least.
"Monster is a relative term." Alex said calmly. "To a canary, a cat is a monster."
Lynn wiped her nose. "You stole that from Jurassic World."
"Doesn't make it any less true." Alex smiled.
"Alex!" Lisa's voice called out. "I think we're close to a breakthrough!"
As Alex left the room Lynn started to hear an intense ringing in her ears. She held her head in pain, then she saw a big black crow sitting outside her window. The ringing stopped and she slowly walked to the window. Something about the crow seemed almost mesmerizing. She stared into the bird's eyes for a moment. Then the bird's eyes started to glow red. As she stared at the glowing red eyes, Lynn's eyes too, began to glow a hellish red.
...
Clyde threw his sword through 3 or 4 zombies, then it sliced up 2 or 3 more as he called it back to his hands. Lincoln clawed through waves of zombies with his powers and consumed them. Clyde continued swinging away with his new sword, throwing it, and calling it back to his hand, like a tiny Thor or Kratos.
The crowd on the bus cheered "Clyncoln Mccloud! Clyncoln Mccloud" the mashup of Lincoln and Clyde's names they had chosen for their duo.
As Lincoln and Clyde cleared out the zombies, they heard the revving of an engine in the distance.
A green Ford Mustang leapt over the bus and landed behind Lincoln and Clyde. The car faced the bus. A gun of some sort came out of the top of the hood of the car.
"Is that some sort of turret? Or flamethrower?" Clyde panicked.
Then the gun on the car shot out a stream of green slime at the bus, coating the windshield. The bus driver stuck his head out of the window.
"What is this?" The bus driver said. "The kid's choice awards?"
Then he scooped some of the slime with his finger and sniffed it. Then he LICKED it!
"Aw that tastes nasty!" The bus driver said. As everyone else on the bus responded with "EEEEEEWWWWWW!!!"
Then the bus driver started to cough, then vomit out the window. Then red pustules formed all over his body.
"Yeah that goo is full of all sorts of really nasty diseases." Said Pestilence from behind the wheel of the green car. "You might want to get rid of that dimwitted bus driver before you all get infected!"
Lincoln rushed to the bus, opened the door and walked in.
The bus driver was on the floor writhing in pain.
"What are you going to do?" Sam asked.
One of the people in the bus Chandler, one of Lincoln's classmates spoke up. "Isn't it obvious." Chandler said with a smug look. "You saw Lincoln absorbing those zombies out there. Clearly he's going to absorb the bus driver, so the rest of us don't get sick."
"HE'S GONNA KILL HIM!!!!" Sam shrieked.
"Hey, the needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few." Chandler said.
"Well you don't have to kill him!" Sam pleaded. "Just throw him off the bus!"
"He's gonna die anyway." Chandler argued.
Then the entire bus burst into frantic arguments, as the sick bus driver looked up at Lincoln in fear.
"QUIET!!!!!!" Lincoln yelled, then the bus grew silent.
Lincoln took a deep breath. "I'm not killing anyone." He calmly said.
He closed his eyes for a moment, then opened them back up. His eyes were now glowing a heavenly blue glow. Blue tendrils grew from his hands gracefully waving through the air, like the tentacles of a glowing jellyfish at the bottom of the sea.
Lincoln's tendrils extended and wrapped around the bus driver, cocooning him in glowing blue goo, as the passengers looked on in awe.
The cocoon broke and the tentacles receded into Lincoln's body. The bus driver got back to his feet cured of all ailments.
"Wow, how did you do that?" Sam asked. "For that matter, how are you still alive, last I heard you were dead."
"Yeah and where did you get those sick powers?" Chandler asked.
"It's kind of a long story." Lincoln said.
"So you can cure the sick with your power's," Pestilence said, "What are you? Jesus Christ?"
Lincoln got out of the bus. "You know I really don't know what I am." Lincoln said. "But what I do know, is that I am NOT going to let you hurt these people!"
"YEAH GO LINCOLN!!!!!" Cried another one of Lincoln's classmates on the bus, a girl named Jordan, affectionately called Girl Jordan (As the class had both a Boy Jordan and a Girl Jordan).
"Big talk for a little guy!" Pestilence yelled. Then he pressed another button on his dash board, and flames shot out of the car at the bus.
Lincoln turned his arm into a shield splitting the wall of flames so that it would go around the bus. Lincoln dug his feet into the ground as the blast of flames grew stronger and stronger. Spikes grew from Lincoln's feet and clamped to the ground. His shield grew bigger and welded to the ground, but Lincoln could still feel himself giving away. More spikes grew from his back and chest, anchoring to the ground.
"Persistent little bastard I'll give him that." Pestilence said. "Just give up kid! One bus load of people ain't worth it."
Lincoln held on with all his might as bits of his flesh started to burn off. Clyde then jumped in and threw his sword at the car's flame thrower, braking of the weapon.
"FUCK." Pestilence screamed. "The hell is that thing made of?"
Lincoln took in a deep breath as his arms and legs turned back to normal, and his wounds healed. "good save Clyde." Lincoln smiled.
"What are sidekicks for?" Clyde said.
"You mean what are friends for." Lincoln said as the two bumped fists.
Pestilence then got out of his car. He was wearing a green leather trench coat, over a green t-shirt, red leather pants, red cowboy boots and red sunglasses.
"Somebody's overcompensating for something." Clyde whispered to Lincoln. Lincoln giggled.
Then Pestilence turned into a swarm of mosquitoes and flew toward the bus.
Tentacles grew from Lincoln's body toward the bus to shut the windows and doors. Then the conscious swarm of blood sucking bugs flew toward Lincoln and Clyde. Lincoln created a shield around him and his friend, protecting them from the mosquitoes.
"You know he asked why you're trying so hard to protect one bus full of people." Clyde said. "But why is he going through so much effort to kill one bus full of people?"
"I'm not sure this guy is really all that competent." Lincoln replied.
The shield dissolved back into Lincoln's body as Pestilence turned back into his human form.
"You think you're just some BIG HERO don't you kid!" Pestilence said.
"I try to be a hero yes." Lincoln said. "And why don't you?"
Pestilence raised an eyebrow.
"Come on." Lincoln said. "You used to be a cop. Bobby told me about you a couple of times. Charlie Boon right?"
"That name means nothing to me. It's Pestilence now."
"Charlie, you used to be a cop." Lincoln said. "You used to be the guy who always stood up for the little guy, no matter what anyone said. You don't have to be like this. You don't have to hurt innocent people."
"Innocent people?" Pestilence said. "HA that's a laugh. Kid you should really learn there is no such thing as innocent people."
"You don't believe that." Lincoln said. "And you're not even a real horsemen, that's just a lie Pariah told you so you'd join him. Come on Charlie, join me, help me save lives, like you always have, before all of this." Lincoln stretched out his hand in a sign of piece.
Pestilence looked up to see crows circling above, and sitting in the nearby power lines like a scene from "The Birds."
"No." Pestilence said. "I actually think my boss wants to have a word with you."
Lincoln gulped and he felt a chill run down his spine. His boss, that could only mean HE was here.
...
"I think we've come close to a break through." Lisa said looking at four beakers of blue fluid in front of her. "And I couldn't have done it without you Alex."
"Well it was a team effort." Alex Mercer said modestly.
Just then Lynn walked in, wearing a pair of sunglasses. She picked up one of the beakers.
"Hey carful with that." Lisa said.
"So this is it huh." Lynn said. "The cure for the Mercer Virus, the one thing that will stop Pariah."
"Yes, and it's very delicate, so carefully put it back were you found it." Alex Mercer instructed.
"THINK FAST!" Lynn shouted as she hurled one of the beakers at the wall as hard as she could.
"WHAT THE HELL!?!?" Both Lisa and Alex shouted.
"What I'm bored, just thought I'd play a little game with you guys." Lynn said with a shrug, as she picked up another beaker.
"This is no game Lynn!" Alex said. "This is life or death, we lose these beakers, we lose all chance of defeating Pariah."
"Psh, can't you just make more?" Lynn asked.
"No." Alex said. "We've used up the sample we got from Loki, and I highly doubt he'll want to cooperate again."
"Well you know how god's of mischief are." Lynn said. "TWO POINTS!" Lynn tossed the beaker into the trash as if she were playing basket ball. The beaker shattered on impact. "YEAH! LYNN LOUD IS THE WINNER!!!!"
"What is going on in here?" Lori said as she peaked her head in.
"Just having a little fun." Lynn said, picking up a third beaker. She pulled out a baseball bat and used it to shatter the beaker. "HOME RUN!!!!"
"LYNN WHAT HAS GOTTEN INTO YOU!" Lisa yelled. "You've always been a bonehead, no offense, but you've NEVER been this reckless." Lisa quickly picked up the remaining beaker before Lynn could grab it.
Alex Mercer's eyes narrowed as a wave of realization washed over him. "Because that's NOT Lynn!"
Lynn slowly took off her sunglasses to reveal her glowing red eyes. The siblings, who had all come over to see what was going on gasped.
"Well hello old friend." Lynn said to Alex. "How's your sister doing these days? And what about your girlfriend? Or your dear friend James? Oh, hehe that's right, I almost forgot."
"Pariah!" Alex said.
"And bingo was his name-o!" Lynn sang out.
Alex turned his arm into a blade and moved toward Lynn.
"Uh uh uh." Said Lynn waving her finger at Alex. "I wouldn't do that if I were you."
Alex stopped.
"You didn't think I would risk ACTUALLY coming here, while you're developing a serum to drain my powers did you?" Lynn said. "No Alex this is no disguise. Dear sweet innocent Lynn is still in here, I'm just controlling her mind. You can sense the virus Alex, use your senses, see that I'm not lying."
Alex looked at Lynn with his viral vision and saw it to be true. Lynn had no trace of the virus in her. This was the real Lynn, but her mind and body had been hijacked.
"I can hear her you know." Pariah said with Lynn's mouth. "Lynn. She's terrified, screaming, begging for mercy, tell me Alex, will you show it to her?"
Alex breathed heavily, his face full of rage, and his blade arm ready to strike.
"Oh Alex you're so predictable." Lynn's hijacked words came forth. "Of course you're gonna kill me, or her. Hey watch this everyone." The creature within Lynn called to the siblings. "Watch as your beloved sister is mercilessly torn to shreds by the man you've come to trust. ALEX MERCER THE GREAT! You know Alex, with a lot of people, their biggest weakness is their compassion. But not you Alex. No, you don't have an ounce of empathy in your entire body. You don't care about these kids, you don't care about Lincoln. They're all just a means to an end with you. Pawns in your chess game against me. No Doctor Alex Mercer, your biggest weakness is your cruelty. You're a monster Alex, and you are alone."
Just then Leni gently grabbed Lynn from behind and turned her around, to look her in the eye.
"Lynn." Leni said softly. "If you can hear me in there, I'm here for you, you can fight this. I know you can."
"Yeah come on Lynn." Lana chimed in. "You're the strongest person any of us know, you can fight this."
"Oh you should feel her try." Pariah said with Lynn's voice. "It's almost sweet and a bit sad how desperately she's trying to reach out to you guys. But it's all for not, pathetic even. She really does care for you guys. Unlike Alex here. In fact, he's going to murder Lynn in cold blood, all to protect his precious cure." Lynn turned to Alex and Lisa. "Isn't that right Alex? Oh and by the way, you guys are all orphans now."
"WHAT?!?!" the other siblings yelled.
"Oh yeah." Said the Pariah possessed Lynn. "I killed your mother at the dentist's office. And when I found out your father was a double agent sent to spy on me, well I killed him too. Of course Alex here knew that dear old dad wouldn't last, yet he still sent him anyway. Some hero. And now, he's going to kill an innocent 13 year old girl, all as part of his sick game."
"I never thought I would ever agree with Pariah but..." Alex said. "He's right, I have to kill her, I'm sorry."
"DON'T YOU DARE HURT HER!!!!" Lori screamed at Alex.
"I'm sorry guys." Alex said. "I know she's your sister, and you love her. But she's just one girl. In order to stop Pariah and save the human race, Lynn Loud Jr. MUST DIE!"
"Hey, the needs of the many, outweigh the needs of the few, right?" Pariah in Lynn's body said.
"Alex don't listen to her dude!" Luna said. "Or him, or it, or uh... now I'm confused."
"But hey." Pariah said. "You do know I can just take over anyone here right? You almost got the cure done right there. Really the smartest move for you would be to kill everyone here, and take that last beaker somewhere I can't find it. I mean think about it, just ten girls over the entire human race."
The siblings looked at Alex in horror.
Alex thought for a moment. He was seriously considering doing what Pariah suggested. Slaughtering the Loud family and taking the cure somewhere safe. It made perfect sense from a tactical standpoint. He could tell Lincoln that Pariah had killed them, that wasn't that far from the truth after all. Then Lincoln would fight even harder to help Alex defeat Pariah. It made sense, yet he wasn't sure if he really should kill them. Yes he had thought of them as a means to an end, and yes his animalistic urge to kill Pariah was strong. Yet some part of him deep down had started to actually care for the Louds. It was like they brought out what little was left of his humanity. But he had to push that part of him away. If the Louds were allowed to continue living, Pariah would destroy the cure, and he would have won. Destroying Pariah was a cause far above the Loud sisters. Alex Mercer was dealing with beings far beyond human comprehension, there was no room for human emotion in the fight against Pariah. The Loud sisters must die.
Then Lynn turned to Lisa. "Come on Lisa." Pariah said with Lynn's voice. "I know we are on opposite sides. But you're a smart girl, you can clearly see that this MAD MAN..." Lynn gestured to Alex Mercer. "Isn't any better than I am. Give me the beaker Lisa. If you don't, Alex Mercer is going to kill Lynn."
Behind her back out of view, Lisa switched the beaker with another one, containing nothing but water, and blue food coloring. She then handed the beaker to Lynn.
Lisa sighed. "You're right. This serum may be important, but it's not worth losing a loved one over."
Lynn, still being controlled by Pariah, then smashed the beaker on the ground shattering what Pariah believed to be the last thing standing between him, and his goals.
"Well I have a meeting to get too." Pariah said. "And I really need to have my full brain power, so it's been fun, but I must bid you farewell." Then Pariah released his grip on Lynn's mind freeing her. Her eyes turned from red back to their normal brown color, and she gasped for breath.
Lisa pulled out the real cure and gave everyone a wink. Alex looked at Lisa in shock.
"I...I..." Alex said. "I was about to kill you guys, and you just. I... you..."
"Pulled the old switcharoo" Lisa replied with a smug smile.
"I didn't even think of that." Alex said. He turned to Lynn. "Lynn I am so sorry." His arms back to normal he reached his hand toward Lynn.
"AAAHHHH!" Lynn screamed, then she ran to Leni and held her tight, crying into her chest and shaking in fear.
"Lynn I..." Alex said.
"You were about to murder her!" Leni protested.
Lori then walked up to Alex with rage in her eyes.
"Alex Mercer." She said. "We need to talk."
...
The crows swarmed into a black feathery tornado around Lincoln. The birds joined together and started to melt into one another until they started to form a tall dark human-like figure. The crows cleared, and Pariah stood where the birds had been.
Lincoln froze, chills went down his spine as he stared into Pariah's red glowing eyes.
"Hello Lincoln." Pariah said in that soothing southern voice that now made Lincoln's skin crawl.
Clyde threw his sword at Pariah, but Pariah caught the sword in mid air. "Now that wasn't very polite." Pariah said, before he snapped the sword in two with his knee like a stick.
"Uh..." Clyde stammered, sweat dripping down his face. He started to hyperventilate.
"Easy Clyde." Lincoln said. "You'll give yourself a heart attack or something."
"I'll go get Alex!" Clyde suggested. "Maybe he can help." Clyde then turned to run.
"NOT SO FAST!" Pariah said. He then made a motion with his hands as if he were pulling something. Then ropes of flesh shot out of Clyde's back and anchored him to the ground. Clyde screamed in pain.
"What did you do?" Lincoln asked.
"Made sure he can't go running off to your friend Mercer." Pariah said. "Can't have that biker grim reaper interrupting our meeting."
"So you came here to fight?" Lincoln said whipping out his claws.
"Relax kid." Pariah said. "I only wanna talk."
"About what?"
"You wanna fight me." Pariah said.
"I want to stop you." Lincoln responded.
"From wiping out humanity?" Pariah asked.
"you got that right."
"Why?"
"Huh?" Lincoln was confused
"Why do you want to stop me from wiping out mankind?" Pariah asked.
"Because saving people is the right thing to do." Lincoln said in a confused voice.
"Is it?" Pariah said. "You think I'm destroying the world, or conquering the world right?"
"Well aren't you?"
"Kid I'm the one saving the world." Pariah said.
Lincoln was confused.
"The animals, the forests, the ecosystem," Pariah said. "I'm on the side of mother nature. You ever see Fern Gully, or Avatar? Not the cartoon, the one with the blue people."
"Yeah." Lincoln said.
"You know it's the people who are always the bad guys in those." Pariah said. "I'm not the evil bad guy. I represent those peaceful blue people, whatever it was they were called, and the cute little fairies."
"Uh blue people and fairies don't exist." Lincoln said.
"It's a metaphor kid." Pariah said. "Point is, I'm not the evil dark lord you guys think I am. I am the protector of mother nature. I am mother nature's hand and the bringer of her love."
Pariah held his hand over a patch of ground and flowers started to grow under Pariah's hands.
"Human's are the villains here." Pariah said. "Human's and the greedy corporations that cut down the forests and kill the innocent wildlife to make a quick buck. I mean just look at that bus of supposed innocent people. Didn't they want you to kill one of their own so they could live. Doesn't that strike you as a bit selfish?"
"Well..." Lincoln said.
"And even the bus itself is emitting toxic fumes poisoning the air we breathe." Pariah pointed out. "Where you see innocent people, I see pure evil."
"I don't think..."
"Lincoln you have evolved beyond them." Pariah said. "You're so fast you don't even need vehicles. People like you and me will inherit this new world, a better world, were we will live alongside the animals in piece. Human's are an invasive species, when you have weeds in your garden you eradicate them."
Lincoln was still confused.
"Still confused huh?" Pariah said. "Well don't worry, I'll explain it all to you, in song."
"Please don't." Lincoln pleaded.
But too late, for Pariah had started to sing:
"Imagine there's no people, no humanity.
No deforestation, no discrimination.
Imagine all the creatures living life in piece.
Imagine there's no money, no disrespect.
It's easy if you try.
You may say I'm a monster.
But that's only your point of view.
Lincoln Loud you should join us.
A brotherhood of evolved.
We're better than man.
No greed no envy.
No pride no lust. Maybe a bit of wrath.
You may say I'm a monster.
But that's just your point of view.
I hope someday you'll join us.
And the world will live as... GAH!"
The song was cut off when Lincoln thrust his claws deep into Pariah's stomach.
"What you're talking about isn't protecting nature." Lincoln said through gritted teeth. His face was turning red, and his heart was about to beat out of his chest. "What you're talking about is mass genocide. And I will NEVER be a part of that! Goodbye Pariah."
Tendrils slithered from Lincoln's claws into Pariah's flesh to consume him.
Lincoln smiled as Pariah's flesh started to dissolve.
This is it! It's finally over!
Then Lincoln's hand exploded and Pariah's wounds healed. Lincoln looked up at Pariah in shock. Pariah looked down at where Lincoln had stabbed him. Then his eyes turned to look at Lincoln.
Lincoln's heart stopped.
"It would have been quick." Pariah said. "But now... I'm gonna make you suffer."
Then huge leathery bat-like wings grew out of Pariah's back. Each wing was about 10 feet long, giving him a 20 foot wingspan.
Pariah flapped his wings and flew off into the sky.
"Psh, nice try brat." Pestilence said, before getting back in his green mustang and driving off.
Lincoln ran over to Clyde.
"Clyde are you ok?" Lincoln said.
"No." Said Clyde.
"Hold on, I'll get you free." Lincoln found the two halves of Clyde's sword. He used his powers to weld the pieces back together.
"This might hurt a bit." Lincoln said. Then Lincoln used his sword to cut the fleshy ropes coming out of Clyde's back. Clyde screamed and blood oozed from the spots in his back where his flesh was pulled out and made into ropes. Lincoln quickly healed Clyde's wounds.
Lincoln and Clyde made sure everyone got off the bus safely and headed back to the Loud House.
...
Lincoln walked into his front door to see his sisters arguing with Alex Mercer in the living room.
"Look I'm sorry." Alex pleaded, practically on his knees. "It was a lapse in judgment. A moment of weakness."
"What's going on?" Lincoln asked.
"This monster was going to kill Lynn." Lori said.
"And he would have killed the rest of us too." Luan added.
"So now I'm asking him to leave and never come back." Lori said.
"Is this true?" Lincoln asked Alex.
"Lynn was being controlled by Pariah." Alex said. "He wanted to destroy the cure. I thought the only way to stop him was to kill Lynn. But then Lisa was able to trick him and..."
"I... I can't believe you." Lincoln said. "I thought you were our friend.
"Lincoln" Alex pleaded.
"You didn't even think, before you resorted to murdering a teenage girl?" Lincoln said.
"Leni?" Alex turned over to Leni.
"You threatened my family." Leni said.
"GET OUT!!!" Lori said, pointing to the door.
Alex begrudgingly left the Loud House. As the door closed behind him, Alex turned back to the house.
"Well if that's how you want it." Alex said. He clenched his fists, and his eyes started to glow red.
Then he relaxed, and his eyes returned back to blue.
"Never mind." Alex turned and slowly sulked away.
...
"Oh man, do you think we were too hard on Alex?" Leni said.
"No Leni." Lori said. "He could have really hurt us, we should never have trusted him in the first place."
"But he did save our lives earlier." Leni said. "And he brought Lincoln back."
"It's likely that his messing with the natural order was of selfish reasons, rather than charity." Lisa pointed out.
"Are you guys ok?" Lincoln asked in a concerned voice.
"A little shaken up, but I think we'll pull through." Lori said. "How about you?"
"I'm fine, had a run in with Pariah, but we got away." Lincoln said
"And we managed to save all those people." Clyde added. "We're real super heroes now!"
"Yeah I guess we are." Lincoln said. "Man Alex looked kind of scared back there. Anyone else find that strange?"
"How so?" Lori asked.
"Well that guy could probably take every last one of you, plus a small army with one hand tied behind his back." Lincoln pointed out. "So what does he have to be afraid of?"
"Could be he didn't want to fight us." Lisa said. "That his fear came from an emotional place than rather than a physical one. In other words, he was more afraid of losing his friends than of getting hurt. But that's just a hypothesis."
"Hey Lisa." Lynn said sheepishly. "I'm really sorry about destroying those beakers back there."
"You don't need to apologize." Lisa said. "You weren't in control of your own body."
"Yeah, but somehow I still feel responsible." Lynn said.
"But that was some pretty quick thinking switching those bottles back there." Lori said to Lisa.
"So how long do you think it will be to complete that cure?" Lynn said.
"Yeah and how long until we can produce enough of it to cure everyone who's infected." Lori asked.
"I really hope what I did didn't set you back." Lynn said.
"Again that wasn't you Lynn, it was Pariah." Lisa said. "And in all honesty, sending Alex Mercer away set me back way more than breaking those beakers. Alex Mercer's knowledge is more than I could ever hope to comprehend. I still have one beaker left though." Lisa held up the beaker. "It'll take longer than I had hoped, but I should have a sufficient cure up and running within a year."
Just then a green portal opened up in the room and two Ricks stepped out dressed in military uniforms.
"We're confiscating this beaker as property of the –urp citadel of Ricks." Said one of the Ricks as he took the beaker from Lisa.
"Hope you guys didn't forget we were in this story too." Said the other Rick. "Wabba Lubba Dub Dub!!!!" then they disappeared back into the portal taking the cure with them.
"Make that never." Lisa said with a disappointed look on her face, looking at her now empty hand.
Then the front wall blasted open. In walked a gigantic hideous beast.
The monster looked like some sort of fucked up sumo wrestler. It was about ten feet high, its belly came out like a giant balloon that could fit five people inside. It didn't seem to have any skin it was just a mountain of fat and muscle. Its fists were huge rocky clubs covered in spikes. Its face was twisted, melted and deformed beyond explanation. It's impossibly twisted deformed mouth was more of a hole than a mouth, who's edges were lined with sharp teeth that resembled white daggers.
The terrifying impossible looking beast let out an ungodly roar as it started to smash the Loud House to rubble from the inside.
Lincoln and his sisters, and Clyde managed to escape, scattering in all directions.
Up in the sky, Pariah swooped down with his mighty wings. As he flew by the houses were blown away by the gusts of wind produced by the wings, like a tornado.
Pariah flew back into the sky laughing like the mad man he was.
This world now belongs to Pariah.
for the rest of the story, please check out the original "Prototype of a Loud." thank you.
