Mission 23

Olivia groaned, and began to make a new batch of hot chocolate with water.  I took a sip, and actually liked the drink, even though it was sweet.  It could have gone without the marshmallows though. "Do you like it?" Polly asked wide eyed.

"Yes. The marshmallow is a bit much though.  Liv sighed.  I can't believe you don't like hot chocolate with marshmallows.  You're so weird, Ivy." I flashed a faux smile, annoyed. "Yeah."

"Can we go to sleep now?" Polly whined, "I don't want Emil to be grumpy tomorrow." "You and Olivia are the ones who get 'grumpy' from the lack of sleep." Emil replied, without looking up.

I was also ready to sleep. "I am ready to sleep too." I said.  "I need to finish this book before we sleep.  I cannot turn off the lights."  "Why don't we change the sleeping arrangements then.  I'll sleep in the chair, you can sleep with Josh in the bedroom, so you can both stay up, and Polly and Ivy can sleep on the couch." Liv said.

I glanced at Josh, to see his opinion.  "Liv, Josh is already asleep."  Josh was sitting in the armchair, his head lolling, arm hanging over the side.  His hot chocolate was in that hand, about to fall to the floor and spill.  Liv sighed, and took the cup.

"Emil, I'll try to sleep with the lights on, but you better not be mad at me if I'm super grumpy tomorrow!"  "I have reached the index."  Emil replied, turning the page.  "You're done?"  "Yes." "You coulda just said you were almost done!" Liv growled. "I thought you could tell by the fact that there were only ten pages left unturned." "Plus the thousand paged index!" They, scowled at each other, and walked into the bedroom.

I crawled into bed, and closed my eyes.  My eyes sprung open, and I looked around.  I got up, and peeked outside the curtains.  No.  It was still dark out.  I couldn't sleep.  I frowned annoyed.

Then I heard a almost silent thudding  noise.  I cracked the door open, and the dark figure hiding in the shadows froze.  I opened the door a little more.  What are you doing here, II?"  I asked.  II's green eyes widened, as her head turned, to look at me.

They returned the their normal slitted size.  "I could ask the same of you, 4."  "It's Ivy."  I replied.  "No.  I know for a fact you're pro-" I ran at fast speed, slamming into II, and putting my hand over her mouth.  "Shush.  Don't call me that."  "Dow, I know door fowwer."  II said, muffled through my hand.

I heard Josh yawn, and Polly muttered in her sleep.  "Quiet they're waking up!"  "You were in there with people?"  I pulled knife out of my sock.  I pressed on his wrist with my thumb, feeling for her tracking chip.  I was supposedly too advanced of technology to need one.

That wasn't true.  Sad washed over me.  I found her chip, and began to cut it out.  "Oww!"  She said quietly, horrified, but unable to cry out, or risk botching her mission.  Whatever it was.  "Shush." I whispered, pulling it out. I pushed the edges of the enormous hole together, and his wrist quickly healed.  "Go!  Don't come back!"  I told her.

"They will catch you, or master will kill you for the botch.  Which do you want?"  "I do not want anything except for masters goals."  "Me neither.  I am my own master now."  "But how?"  "Their new tranquilizers broke me."  I  dragged her into the room, and stuck three tranquilizers into him.  That's how many it had taken to break me.

I dragged her to the elevator, and pressed all the buttons.  She should be awake by then.  I used the low potency darts they used on me when I was in the hospital bed.
