Mission 17
"Can we go on a mission now?" I asked. "No, not yet." Emil answered. "Is it because I preformed differently?" I asked angrily. "What? No! What are you talking about?"
"I heard you say that." "What are you talking about?" "Never mind." "No really! Whatever you're talking about I'm sure it's a misunderstanding! We can..."
I closed the door behind myself, and went to the librarian. "Is there a book that shows where everyone's rooms are?" I asked her. "As a matter of fact, we just updated it to add you. Here." She handed me a huge heavy tome, and I almost dropped it.
"Is this alphabetical?" She nodded. "By first name?" I asked hopefully. "Oddly, yes." I thumbed to the P's, and scanned for Porter. Eventually I found him. Room 403. I thanked the librarian, and went to room 403. I knocked.
Porter answered the door, and smiled. "Hey Ivy. What are you doing here?" "Looking for you." I said. Porter laughed, and said, "Yes but why?" "I was looking for you because you're my friend and I haven't got anything to do."
"Okay. What do you wanna do?" I tilted my head. "You pick, but first we have to eat. I skipped breakfast for my testing." "Oh, testing. That sucks. Mine left me dizzy for the rest of the day." "Mine just messed with my head. I'm a bit confused."
"That makes sense. Like, what if I'm still in the test! Is this a test?" Porter laughed. My eyes widened. Is that a possibility?" I asked, worriedly. "I guess, but I don't think they'd put me in your test. It's more likely to be one of your team members, or a teacher.
We reached the cafeteria, and stepped into line. "Don't worry. The brunch is good. It's like doughnuts and stuff. And you get to pick." I reached the front, and took the glazed doughnut with the least glaze.
I also took an unsweetened iced tea. "Okay, where do you wanna sit?" Porter asked. "How about there?" He smiled. "Where we sat yesterday. Okay, that'll be our special spot from now on." I sat down, and scraped the glaze off of the doughnut.
I had barely taken a huge bite from the doughnut, when my team showed up out of nowhere. "Could you leave, Porter? Her team needs to talk to her." Porter stood up. "Sure- hey!" I grabbed his arm and made him sit back down.
"This is Porter's spot. You can't kick him out of it." "And who'd you kick out of it to make it 'Porter's spot'?" "No one. Actually, she picked this table last night because it was the only empty table." I nodded in agreement.
"Is someone jealous?" Olivia teased. "No! It's just that this is private team stuff!" "Well I don't see anyone else caring, so... You're jealous! Admit it!" "Whatever. He can stay if he really wants." "Jealous!" Olivia whispershouted, and Josh glared at her for a second.
Olivia was wearing the same thing she always did, a pink sports bra, and pink spandex short shorts. So was Emil, in his little suit. "I don't understand." Everyone stopped. "What do you mean you don't understand?" Polly asked.
She was wearing a short, flowing dress, in a sea green color, with turtle earrings. Her curly hair was in a ponytail, and she was wearing pretty sea foam gray flats. "Why do you say he's jealous? There is nothing to be jealous of." "Exactly! That's why I'm not jealous." Josh said.
Today he was wearing a blue tee shirt, with a big yellow smiley face, cargo shorts, and the same tennis shoes as always. "What were you talking about when you said, that I said you preformed differently?" Emil asked. "It's nothing."
"Seriously. No one has ever heard voices during their testing. Tell me exactly what we said. "Well, you said, 'I guess we should have expected her to preform differently, considering her different training.' And then Polly said, 'So she fails? She can never go on another mission again?" I said.
Olivia laughed. "Well that definitely didn't happen. You can't fail the talent evaluation. You can only prove what you are good at and what you are not." "Really?" I asked incredulously.
~Dedicated to my good friend Grayp002, for the great character Polly~
