Mission 11
When I stepped into the room two huge security guards were waiting for me. "Your boss wants to speak with you." They each hooked their arm under mine, and started to drag me away.
I bit one man's arm, and clawed at the other until they dropped me. "I'll walk on my own." They marched me to their boss's office. He wasn't my boss. I decided from now on, I'd be my own boss.
"So. I hear you told your friends that I 'threatened' you. You better restore my children's faith, or else." "Or else what?" "Or else I really will torture you."
"Oh, but I doubt you could." I laughed, "but since I need them to trust me, I can't have them thinking I only joined because I was threatened. So I'll convince them, but only them. I don't care about the others or anyone who's heard rumors." I got up, and opened the door.
"Don't think I do this because you threatened me. My master has taught me many things. One of which, is that only things that benefit myself are worth doing. I'll always have a motive." I put a foot through the door, and squirmed through the security guards.
I walked through the hallway, laughing as his calls echoed through. "Come back! I didn't dismiss you!" I entered the room, and found that the janitor was already in the prossess of putting in the carpet. "None of us actually know how to put in carpet, so we asked groundskeeper Wily to help." Olivia said.
"Oh." "Well?" "Well?" I repeated innocently. "What did you talk about?" Polly asked. I put on a scared face, glanced from side to side outside the door, and slammed it shut. "It was a misunderstanding, but understandably he was a little bit upset about me making a scene. From now on, I never yelled that out, that conversation with your boss never happened, and neither did this one. Oh, and don't worry. I joined because I wanted to. I would never let anyone threaten me."
Polly nodded wide eyed, Emil and Olivia rolled their eyes, and Josh said, "fine." I turned to the wall, and pulled off some duct tape, hiding my evil smile. "I feel like I've already done enough damage, with this question, but Josh?" I asked, spinning around, smiling questioningly, and tilting my head, "What are your powers?"
"I don't have any." "Oh. I'm sorry I asked," I lied, "it's just that I need to know when I can and can't rely on my teammates on missions. "You can always rely on us." Josh said. "I'm sorry, but I come from a place where you're taught never to trust anyone, and only rely on your own instincts. Don't push it.
The janitor nodded, and exited the room. "Thank you Wily!" Polly cried after him. I didn't have anything to do, so I decided to activate shutdown A. "Well-" but then I remembered. I couldn't activate shutdown, because protocols were down. "What?" Olivia asked. "Never mind."
"Oh." "Well what do we do now?" Polly asked. "We could go to the fair. It's open today." Josh offered. "Will that cost money? Remember I haven't got any." I warned. "Don't worry I'll pay for whatever you want. I'm pretty good at saving." Josh said, nonchalantly.
"I haven't got any money either. Will you pay for me too?" Olivia asked. "You had money before!" Josh cried exasperated for some reason. "I spent the last of it at the cafe." "I'm not paying for you." Josh said, annoyed. "But you're paying for Ivy, and you barely know her."
"Well it's not her fault she doesn't have any money, she hasn't had a chance to earn any. If you didn't waste all your money on useless workout equipment you see on T.V, maybe you'd have money to come with us." Polly nodded. Olivia turned towards Emil.
"You wouldn't go without me." she whined. "Fine. I'll pay for you, but this is the last time. Stop paying for that stuff you don't need it!" "Thanks Emil!" Olivia said, giving him a quick hug. "Are you two siblings?" I asked, out of the blue. "No." Olivia said, at the same time as Emil said, "Yes."
