chapter four ─── the grishaverse

ℑt's the fourth chapter of introducing the books and I'm getting onto my favourite character. Welcome to my Grishaverse series, the home of my darling Stasiaj Yahontov, Snake of the Barrel.

The main book in this series is actually completely finished, however there are two other books I feel I should introduce in connection with this, so thus you get a chapter on it.

War of Hearts was one of the quickest books that I've ever written. I believe that I started it the day after Shadow and Bone released, and then finished it in June 2021. I think, at the time, I was publishing a chapter or two every night in my first year of university. Granted, I will never do that again with any book, War of Hearts just seemed to be an exception.

War of Hearts is the main book in this series, following Stasiaj Yahontov as she joins the Crows for their Ice Court heist. This exclusively follows the Six of Crows duology, not the show, so there's no overlap there.

This book contains one of my favourite characters, Stasiaj Yahontov, who is one of my favourite morally grey, incredibly manipulative and witty characters that I've written for. Her and Kaz's relationship is also a lot of fun to write, there are definite ups and downs that left me and everyone else screaming.

The only thing to note is just, as a general rule, watch out for the comment section because War of Hearts has like two big plot twists, and people have spoiled them. I try my best to delete most comments, but just be careful. If you're a rereader, mark your comments with spoilers please.

There are two other companion books to War of Hearts, Game of Survival and Deep End.

Deep End, is the sequel to War of Hearts but is unpublished at the moment as I think on whether or not to write it. It follows the story of a male prostitute called Tsar in the Barrel and how his life evolves after the Ice Court heist and Kaz Brekker taking control of the Barrel.

Game of Survival is being written and follows the story of a young Stasiaj Yahontov and Kaz Brekker through season 1 of Shadow and Bone. The book is a prequel to War of Hearts but might also turn into a spin off if Shadow and Bone goes into the Ice Court heist.
