Sometimes, when a person is comfortable with their life, the universe decides it's time for a crazy development. Flora thought that nothing could be worse than her present situation, but it seems like she was wrong.

"We should have called Bertram," she complained while carrying the bones inside her car.

"I told you I could take them, I can use the cloth you put on the car like a bag," Noah answered  her.

"Didn't you say you were tired? It's not a long trip. I'm worried that someone will try to intercept us, wouldn't be the first time."

"What's so important about these bones? Maybe Casimir wanted us to waste our time."

"Maybe, but the plants sense something bad, and they tend to be correct," said Flora before they finished their task and got inside the vehicle.

Despite the blonde's paranoia they had a safe ride. After her last encounters with demons, she started to wait for them every time she got the tiniest piece of information.

In their confusion, they gravitated towards Stefan. It was always that way, if one member found themselves under intricate circumstances they trust that their leader will find a solution. What could they do with the disturbing discovery? They didn't have a single idea, but Stefan would know.

Flora observed how the gazes of the people passing through the hallway, focused on the bag they had improvised with the old black cloth. She put on her best smile to distract the audience.

"What's the point of getting all these weapons?" She asked Noah with a casual tone.

"Do I look like I can read Gellert's mind?" The young man answered, following his companion's lie.

The acting continued until they reached the leader's office. Once the duo stepped into the room they were greeted by Stefan and Gellert. Both men made space on the desk for the bag.

Noah deposited the load on the free space, the cloth opened by itself, revealing the bones. A gasp broke the silence.

"What the hell is this?" The firefighter asked, his eyes never left the desk.

"Human bones," answered Flora, as it wasn't obvious for all the present.

"I can see that," said the leader. "Why did you bring them here?"

"Ask Casimir, he gave Flora the location," commented Noah.

"Let me see if I'm understanding this right," started Gellert. "The one who betrayed us gave you a location, you went there, found a collection of bones and you decided it was best to bring them with you?"

"Exactamente, you're good at this."

"What do you expect us to do with them?" Stefan questioned them while he massaged his front with his left hand.

"We hoped you'd know what to do," confessed the redhead, scratching the back of his neck.

"Maybe we should try to identify them. The trees around them acted weird, I'm sure that Casimir was sincere about this," continued Flora.

"Casimir wouldn't do anything that won't bring him a benefit," said Gellert.

"Maybe it's something that can help both of us. We won't lose anything by investigating." The young woman insisted.

"Alright, Gellert will talk to his contact in the police," agreed the leader. "This better not be one of Casimir's distractions."

"That's all I ask for, you're the best." Flora jumped toward the two men and gave each one a hug. "We won't bother you anymore, I promise I'll do my best with the mysterious box"

"Yeah, just go," Gellert interrupted her. "I'll let you know once I have the answer."

The investigator duo left the office with a renewed attitude. Their movements passed from small and controlled to carefree and open. It's wonderful how a single conversation can change the perception of reality.

"Thanks for having my back in there." Flora thanked the redhead.

"I told you that I'm doing it for myself, I'm also curious about it." Noah dismissed her words.

"Accept that we're winning a little space inside your cold heart."

"We? Who's we?"

"Clio, Zygmunt and me, your new besties."

"You're going crazy," said Noah as he pushed away the blonde that tried to hug him. "You should stay away from Mr. Cheaney."

Flora laughed at his comment, she found the expression of disgust on the young man's face hilarious. The positive energy kept her company until they reached their next destination.

One less task to accomplish, yet the biggest challenge still waited for them at the top of the pyramid. The mysterious box remained closed and the investigation team had the responsibility to open it.

The image of the enigma haunted Flora even in her dreams. She didn't control her thoughts or her emotions anymore, not a single corner of her mind belonged to her. The fear of losing herself paralyzed her.

In the dark pit she fell, the young woman felt alone. To find a solution she'll have to do what she hates: accept that she needs help.

It hurts her ego to see Clio, Noah, and Zygmunt sitting next to her on the farthest side of the garden. At least she had the company of the yellow roses that grew near them.

"I love this, I always wanted to be a detective," Mr. Cheaney said as he danced in his place.

"Then you can take care of the job," commented the young man.

"We're working on this together," interrupted Clio. "We don't have much time. We need that fucking light."

"Here," said Flora before throwing the box inside the circle they were forming with their bodies as they sat on the floor. "See if you can find something. All I see are lines, en cualquier momento la mando a la mierda."

The oldest man was the first one to grab the object. He moved it in his hands to have a detailed look at it, he paid attention to the lines carved in the wood, they formed some kind of map.

"It looks like the map of a labyrinth," concluded Mr. Cheaney.

Clio and Noah decreased their distance from the man. their gazes turned towards the lines. For some minutes they allowed silence to be the transport of concentration.

"It doesn't make any sense," the young man complained. "The lines don't join."

"What if the point is to join them in the correct way?" Asked Clio, tapping her fingers against her knees in a steady rhythm.

"That's what I thought," agreed Flora. "But I don't know what's the right way. It doesn't matter how much I try, it never works."

The good thing about gathering a group of competitive people is that if you put a challenge in front of them, they'll be full of energy for a long period of time.

They spent two hours analyzing the box. Flora showed her companions how they could move the pieces of the object, the technique was the same as a Rubik's cube. In the end, it didn't matter how many combinations they tried, the success maintained itself far from them.

"I gave up!" The firefighter screamed, she stood up and began walking back and forth.

"I know where we can get some maps of the village, I can get them for tomorrow," suggested Zygmunt.

"Yeah, let's continue tomorrow," said Noah as he let himself fall to the ground.

"It's better than keep looking at this thing like crazy people," agreed Flora. "What are we going to do if we don't solve this?"

"Die at the hand of the demons," Her best friend answered, her honesty striking once again.
