ᴇɪɢʜᴛᴇᴇɴ: ᴀɢᴀᴛʜᴀ

One of the worst sensations in life must be waking up with an insufferable headache. That horrible pain traveling, in a constant flow, from the neck to the top of the head. Add a little spice of muscle tension mixed with extreme exhaustion and you'll have the perfect recipe for a killer morning. That's exactly how Agatha felt at that moment.

The girl learned that her control over her power was awful, and she learned it during an undoubtedly inconvenient occasion. She was, once again, saved by her luck.

It occurred to Agatha that it wouldn't be her last encounter with danger; destined to endure the constant oppression of fear, a fact she couldn't accept.

In the peak of her weakest moment, laying on the uncomfortable infirmary bed, Agatha decided that it was time to fight back. Unfortunately her body didn't seem to agree with her.

She opened her eyes, pushed by her determination. The hands moved, trying to stop the bright light from blinding her. The noises of the infirmary stabbed into his ears like sharp knives. She patted the bed for her headphones and found them next to her pillow. Her hands trembled when she put them on.

Once her sight leveled, Agatha found herself facing an endearing scenery. On her right side, sleeping with his upper body resting on the bed was Lorcan. Even though the girl couldn't see his face, which stayed hidden against his folded arms, she imagined he must look adorable.

Lured by an invisible force, she extended her hand in the direction of Lorcan's head. His hair felt soft between her fingers as the young woman played with the light brown strands.

Agatha ignored the shine of fondness present in her own eyes, and the shy smile growing slowly.

"He spent the whole night by your side." A feminine voice brought her back to reality.

The young woman didn't answer, her hand still caressing his hair.

"I'm Genevieve," said the woman. "I need to check your condition if that's okay with you."

Agatha nodded before turning in the doctor's direction.

"You exceeded the limit of your power. Did you ever train your ability?"

The librarian opened her mouth to answer but the words didn't come out, as if she had forgotten how to speak. She shook her head to deny the question.

"Our powers require our energy to work, if you don't learn how to control it, every time you use your power it would take your energy from your entire body. It's important to learn how to increase and focus our energy. You could die from it, be careful next time."

A sudden shiver ran through the young woman's body. The mention of death made her stomach drop for a second.

"You'll be able to go home today but you have to be careful. Try to avoid using your power for today, get some rest, and don't skip your meals," said the doctor before leaving.

Her heartbeat gave a jump when the mattress shifted, the sudden movement scared Agatha who was lost between her thoughts.

She rotated her head until her eyes crossed with the ones she wished to find. Lorcan's gaze held a passion she never witnessed before.

"You're finally awake," he whispered like he was afraid that a higher tone would send her away.

Agatha nodded and gave her friend's hand a little squeeze.

"Can't speak?" Asked Lorcan. He smiled once she confirmed his suspicions with another squeeze. "It's okay, you experienced a really stressful situation yesterday, apart from the fact that you use all your energy with your power. We're all fine, Demir went home to rest, he has to work early tomorrow."

The young woman opened her mouth once again to talk. It took her a few minutes to be able to pronounce some words. During that time, Lorcan remained silent, he didn't pressure her to hurry up.

"Teach me to fight?" Asked Agatha, breaking the silence.

The answer didn't come immediately, she could hear the gears turning inside the Protector's mind.

"I'll teach you on one condition," proposed Lorcan. "You have to train your power, I'm not saying that you have to use it, I want to be sure that the next time you'll know your limit."

They sealed the deal with a handshake. Lorcan would teach Agatha how to defend herself and she would learn from the Protectors to control her healing ability. The journey would be arduous, yet she must do it in order to secure her survival.

"I'll take you home," he said half an hour later, while he helped her collect her belongings. "Ellis called when you were unconscious. I picked up the call, sorry if I overstepped but I thought you would want him to know your situation. I didn't say much, though."

Lorcan escorted her out, he respected her silence, not adding any words to the quiet environment. Agatha discovered that the building exceeded her expectations about its size.

"It's Gellert's car, I hope you don't mind," explained the young man, opening the passenger door for her. "I figured it would be a better option than my motorcycle considering that you just got released from the infirmary."

"It's okay," she whispered after settling into the seat. The strength to speak began to return shortly, enough to say short sentences. "I never ride your bike."

"Seems like I'll have to take you on a ride soon, but for now focus on getting better."

The drive passed fast, both of them stayed quiet, enjoying the music coming from the radio. Once they arrived at their destination, they noticed a figure waiting at the entrance.

"That's Ellis, I let him know I was coming," clarified the owner of the house, as she got out of the car.

The member of the Protectors observed the young man that was walking in his direction. Confidence surrounded every step he took. The sweet smile on his face while he was seeing Agatha, vanished when he detected her companion.

"Thanks for the help," he spoke, his deep voice hiding a warning message. "I'll take care of her from now on."

The challenge was clear. Their gazes crossed, both boys trying to intimidate each other. Agatha could perceive the tension, the air heavier than usual.

She held Lorcan's bicep softly, hoping he would understand she was asking him to let it pass. Agatha wanted to let him know that she agreed with it.

"I'll see you soon, remember our promise," Lorcan murmured to her, before returning to the car.

Agatha barely had the chance to watch the vehicle disappear. A hand resting on her back guided her towards the house. Once inside, the questioning began.

"Are you alright? Where were you? Do you know those people?" Ellis spat after helping her sit on the red couch.

"I'm fine, I'm tired, I don't want to talk much now," she laid her entire body against the sofa, her muscles relaxing thanks to the soft surface.

"Who was that guy?" He asked again.

"Lorcan"

"I don't know him, I can't trust him."

"But I do, he's my friend and that's all you have to know."

The headache hit her once more.

Ellis rolled his eyes. The way his fist tightened, making the veins on his forearm pop up, told Agatha that the handsome boy disapproved of her opinion.

"I could've done a better job at protecting you, you should have told me."

"I wasn't expecting to be attacked, ok?" She raised her voice. "All I wanted was to have a relaxing time with my best friend at the farmers market, it's not my fault that a group of crazy people thought it would be a great idea to start a fight. I didn't think about anything at that moment. Do you know how afraid I was? I didn't call Lorcan, but I'm grateful he was there and if you truly care about me you should be thankful too."

The tattooed boy was taken back by Agatha's reaction. His green eyes widened, regret present on his face. He kneeled next to the girl and took her hands in his.

"I'm sorry, doll. I'm afraid, I want you to be safe. I won't say something like that again."

"It's alright, I get it. Can we stop talking now? I'm exhausted" she confessed, her voice cracking at the end.

"Of course, we can watch a movie if you like."

And that's what they did for the rest of the day. The movie helped Agatha to focus on something outside the horrible memories haunting her mind.

When the night came she extended her invitation. Ellis understood that under her shy question a plea was hidden. Agatha needed someone to protect her, so he stayed, looking after the girl from his place on the couch.

Ellis Vs Lorcan, we had some moments with both boys today. What's your pick?
