Tutoring

The next few months were not as eventful as Isabella would have liked. Being on the "junior" Avengers she was used to having at least a little action in her day to day life. So far on this job, she had gym class and that was nothing.

Peter didn't get into that much trouble, he just went around Queens being the friendly neighborhood spiderman he's always been. Isabella found it a little weird that she was basically stalking him but he had no idea still, so she still doing her job.

Tony had been doing some of her homework and actually packing some of her lunches when he could. He had felt bad that he couldn't officially put her on the team and stuck her with Peter, so he made the best lunches he could. What he didn't know is that she was now sharing these lunches with Ned, Peter, and Michelle.

They would all sit together, splitting their lunches so they could have actual food and not whatever the cafeteria was trying to pass as food.

Isabella had grown close to Peter, but had become best friends with Michelle. It was the first time she actually had a friend her age and who was only slightly more sarcastic as she was.

In school Isabella wasn't doing so hot, and Tony was growing a little impatient with her and decided that she needed a tutor, which she was not happy about. Knowing Tony he was going to have her ask Peter, which is exactly what he did. It was time to ask for help from the very kid she was trying to protect. Isabella tried to get him to change his mind so Michelle could tutor her but he had none of it.

Isabella felt weird being assigned to ask Peter to tutor her. It felt almost wrong, they were friends and she didn't want to take advantage of that. Plus he was her assignment, and it just felt weird to be asking for help from the person she was shadowing.

"How'd you do on that last Spanish quiz?" Peter asked everyone at the table as he stole one of Michelle's pretzels.

Ned responded with his usual B and Isabella shrugged. "Not so great." She mumbled, trying to get over the fact that she literally had to ask for help or Tony would do it for her.

Peter just looked at her for a second as he finished the pretzel. "I can help you if you want." He suggested causing Ned to look at him weirdly and Peter to shrug a little.

"You don't have to do that Peter, I'm sure you're busy already with the academic decathlon being in like two months, plus the Stark internship." Isabella said and Peter shook his head.

"Don't worry about it, how about we go to the library after school for an hour or even half an hour and I help you there." Peter said, before she could respond Ned asked him to talk with him private.

"What's going on with those two?" Isabella asked Michelle who was currently reading a book about the circus in world war two.

"Ned is all confused why Peter would tutor you in Spanish because Peter kind of likes you but he also doesn't trust you." Michelle responded, not looking up from her book.

Isabella nodded a little and looked over to where Ned and Peter were arguing. She didn't know why Peter wouldn't trust her, she had been nothing but nice to him since she met him. There was no reason why he wouldn't trust her. Then she remembered something Tony had recently added to Peter's file. Spidey sense, or at least that's what Tony called it. Peter can sense danger, but it has to be immediate danger.

Maybe even being in Isabella's presence set it off. She was a trained assassin after all. She was dangerous and she wasn't at school because her dad just recently changed jobs and made them move here. She was there because Tony Stark made her be there,

Peter and Ned finally sat back down as Ned glanced at Isabella.

"Sorry about that, so what do you think about me tutoring you?" Peter asked as he reached for another pretzel.

"Sure, thank you." Isabella smiled.

The bell rang signaling the end of lunch making them all stand up and gather their things.

"Then we can start today and go over the test. I'll see you there after school." Peter said grabbing what was left of his lunch and walking off to his next class.

Isabella was left walking with Ned to her next class. They made small talk but she could tell he didn't trust her, and that was going to be a problem if he made Peter not trust her.

After the last bell of the day Isabella started on her way to the library. Flash of course had other ideas as he slid in front of her, making her stop and look at him.

"So Bella, I hear getting tutored in Spanish by Penis Parker." Flash said and Isabella just nodded. "Why don't you get tutored by me? I'm sure we would have a lot more fun than you being tutored by him." Flash said, winking again causing Isabella's anger to boil over.

"You say that to me again, or you hit on me again, you will be on the floor begging me to stop hurting you before you can say my name again. Oh, and you shouldn't call Peter by that." Isabella snarled causing Flash's smile to falter a little.

"Okay then, have fun with Parker." Flash said as he almost ran away.

Isabella took a deep breath before walking into the library and joining Peter at the table he chose.

"I saw Flash try to hit on you, that makes how many times this week?" Peter asked as he got out his Spanish notes.

"It makes four, and I would really love to not talk about him anymore. Can we just get to Spanish?" Isabella asked and Peter looked at her for a second to make sure she was okay before nodding a little bit.

Flash's consistent flirting was driving Isabella crazy and she hated it. It seemed like every time she turned around he was there with another pick up line, each one naughtier than the last. She had never had that attention from someone, she was just viewed as someone who could get in and out of small places. No one wanted to flirt or attempt to get to know her. Flash was just doing it the wrong way and being an ass.

"Okay, so let's go over the quiz." Peter said snapping Isabella out of her thoughts.

Isabella had never been good at asking for help, and when she did, she always got punished for not being able to do it herself. After she ran away whenever she would ask for even the smallest bit of help, she would wince as she was expecting a hit. Now she would just rub the old burns on her upper arm.

Peter noticed this whenever she would clarify something she wasn't sure about. He didn't say anything but he made a mental note to find out if it was just a tick or something more.

After an hour they were finally done and Isabella's phone started to ring causing her to jump because she thought it was on silent. The ringtone that was playing was Highway to Hell, Tony. The librarian glared at her. She looked at Peter, smiled and held up one finger to signal she needed a minute before walking away and answering.

"Hey, what's up?" Isabella answered as she looked back, making sure Peter was still at the table, and he was. He was patiently sitting there drumming a random tune onto the table, causing Isabella to smile.

"Where are you? You should be home by now." Tony sternly said. Isabella's eyes widened as she turned back around and faced the hallway in front of her.

"Shit, I forgot to tell you Peter is tutoring me in Spanish since I didn't do too well on the quiz we took." Isabella said, mentally facepalming. "I'm okay Tony, don't worry." She said, turning around to see Peter not at the table anymore.

"Okay kid, I just got a little worried. Text me when you're on your way back." Tony said before hanging up.

Isabella looked around and swore under her breath and she looked for Peter. He couldn't have just disappeared and he couldn't have turned into Spiderman in the middle of the school library, he usually does that in an alley.

"Peter?" Isabella asked to the air around her. No one answered.

She swore gently before walking out of the library and seeing him talking to another girl, Liz. Isabella sighed a breath of relief as she walked over to him.

"Hey, I didn't know where you went." Isabella said and Peter turned to her and gave her a certain look. She immediately understood that she shouldn't have interrupted their conversation.

"It's okay, I have to go anyway. See you around Peter." Liz said before walking away.

"Come on Bella. Why couldn't you have just let me talk to her?" Peter asked, disappointment evident in his voice.

"Oh...sorry, I didn't realize you liked her like that." Isabella said as she followed Peter back into the library to collect their stuff.

"Who would I like if I didn't like her? You?" Peter asked and scoffed a little bit taking Isabella back a second. She just looked at him and he immediately understood what he did wrong.

"Bella I'm so sorry, I didn't mean it like that. You-You're beautiful bu-but I don't think of you like that." Peter said trying to recover but Isabella was already walking out the door.

Peter hung his head a little before walking out and catching the train.

Isabella hung back just to follow him like usual. She stayed farther back this time. For some reason his words had really hurt her and she didn't know what to do. She didn't care if he didn't have a crush on her, she couldn't get feelings for him since she's on assignment. For some reason after Peter said those words, they stuck with Isabella and kept running in her head. "Who am I supposed to like? You?" It sounded like he would rather date Flash than her, and that what hurt.

Today was just a normal day, a friendly neighborhood spiderman helping the neighborhood. all except for one girl.
