Going berserk
Chapter 15 : Going berserk
I woke with my hands tied behind my back, and blood in my mouth. The first thing I felt was a shape object poking my side. When my vision started to come I noticed the pointed end of a berserker bone, scrapping over the cut on my side left by Argent.
I struggled to lift my head, just barely making out Scott tied to a table. I couldn't even tell where we were, but my body wanted to freeze at the sound of footsteps.
"Tell me, Scott." At the sound of Kate Argent's voice I started to fight the thing tying my hands back, but it was metal of some sort. I was too far from Scott to really see anything other than shapes, but I knew nothing good was about to happen. "They ever teach you the myth of Artemis and Actaeon in school?" There was no answer. "No? I didn't think so."
I tried to fight, but my side was still bloody and the cut Kate gave me was deep. Not only that but it was covered in ash and a bone was sticking into it. Every once and a while I let out a pained moaned, my body not wanting to move.
Kate made a noise like a hiss before continuing one. "Well, Artemis was a goddess. And Actaeon was a hunter that happened to see Artemis bathing naked one day." What was it with psychos and antical cultures? I mean first Peter's weird knowledge of lacrosse and now this. The Argent's are FRENCH, not greek. "This did not make the goddess too happy. In fact, she was so angry, Artemis turned Actaeon into a deer."
"The silver deer." I heard myself whisper, like I was having on out of mind experience.
"And this sent his own hounds into a frenzy. He was actually torn apart by his own hunting dogs."
When I heard the growls of the berserker's I knew what the Argent was planning. "No. Kate! You can't do this!" I started to scream the metal on my wrist starting to burn. "KATE! Don't do this!"
"Shut her up!" Kate Argent screamed at the berserkers. I felt the bone dig further into my cut and watch Scott struggle with his holds. I could see the bone skule from here as the pain in my side grew. I knew this woman was crazy but this.. This was berserk.
She stood over Scott, placing the skule on his squirming body. I turned away not wanting to both hear and see Scott as he screamed. When his words stopped, I stopped fighting. I could do this alone. And if Kate kept me this close to her, she wanted something. Badly.
~
Kate used to claw to cut a thin line right under my eye, just above the bone. The second most painful place in the body. At least from a torcher stand point. I couldn't talk. I could hardly breath. So even if I wanted to say anything to the wack job, I couldn't. Something in me was saying if I spoke they would be my last words.
"See I would have made Scott kill you. Really." Kate sighed, "To be honest that was the first plan. But then I heard. Little Caitlin, the girl who never knew what to do, could see the future. Not only that, but she outsmarted a pack of Alphas. Stopped a nogitsune. And now, ended this awful deadpool. I just want to know how." she gave me fake sad eyes, "Then well then I'll use you as a weapon. Just. Like. Scott."
I raised my head, fully aware she could hear my heartbeat. "For the last time. I. Don't. Know."
"And yet you still did it? How?"
I huffed out, the pain flooding my body, "I just wanted to help. You should try it sometime. Maybe then Allison wouldn't hate you." She went to attack me at the last remark but held herself back. Clearly I got under skin.
"I don't know what you're talking about."
I let out a painful laugh, "Oh she hates you. Allison. The one person you would never be able to kill hates you."
Her eyes flashed green, "Why would say that?"
"Well for one thing, you broke the code. Then tried to kill her boyfriend, then faked your death. But really she could look past all that. The thing that really cut deep. You. Never. Looked. Back." I started to taunt with what I could imagine. Kate let out a roar so I continued. "And when you did. It wasn't for her. Or her father, your brother. No. It was for me, and Scott. That, that was really what made her give up on you."
She clawed at me but I dogged, causing her to break the half melted iron chains that held me to the wall. Despite the pain in my side, I started to run, started to break free. Kate screamed at her beakers and I knew this might be my last stand.
The first thing I saw when one threw me into the wall was Scott's tattoo. The only thing you could see through the bones. I pressed my body to the wall, finding something inside me that would turn him back. I had my hand pressed to my wound but I removed it when blood started to drip, except when I pulled away the blood was shining and silver. It wasn't just a reopening wound, it was turning my eyes.
I stared right at Scott as my forams turned the same shining metal color. The small stone walls around us started to shake. I placed my hand back to my side. "I'll be back for you." I whispered to Scot before using the air around me to push him to a wall.
The stone started to fall and as I ran for just a second I looked back. In that second I watched Scott's eyes burn a deep red, then they went back to having no color at all.
Third Person POV
The pack stood in the old Argent Wearhouse. Not an Argent in sight. Derek stopped the black van they would be using to keep Liam locked up with the moon. Everyone else climbed out of the powder blue jeep. "How'd you manage a prison transport van?" Lottie asked as Braeden and Derek walked out of it.
Braeden scoffed, "I'm a U.S marshall."
Stiles squinted, "Yeah, I just thought that was just a cover."
"We really bring him?" Derek referred to the young beta.
"We really bring him?" Stiles shot back pointing to Peter Hale.
Peter sighed, "We're bringing everyone that we can. And considering Caitlin and Scott were taken the night before the full moon, we should probably get going."
"What's that mean?" Malia asked her father.
"If Kate took Scott Back to the same temple that she took Derek, how do we know she's not planning to do the same thing to him?"
"What does she want to make him younger?" Isaac asked not really following what was happening in the conversation. He kept checking his phone. Nothing from either Lydia or the twins.
"Or back to when he wasn't a werewolf." Derek pointed out.
Peter nodded, "A werewolf can't steal a true Alpha's power. But maybe a Nagual jaguar,-"
"That's actually not true." Lottie interrupted the former Alpha. "What? Oh right, you want me to explain. Liam can take Scott's power. Only the bitten beta of a true alpha can steal his power. From there someone can take it from Liam with nomale Alpha rules applying."
Peter rolled his eyes at the other worlder, "Anyways. Maybe a Nagual jaguar with the power of Tezcatlipoca behind her...Maybe Liam won't be the only one." No one spoke, "So if everyone is sufficiently freaked out, I say we get going."
"Not without the twins." "Or Lydia." Lottie and Stiles spoke.
~
Lydia Martin messed with the lock of Cait's locker. Chloe and Evlynn beside her. Lydia removed the sweatshirt hanging inside. "This better work." Chloe mumbled as she slammed the meatal shut.
All three girls froze when they heard the growls from behind them. Quickly all three duck as the beaker punched at where Chloe's head was seconds before.
~
Isaac, Stiles, and Lottie tried to call the three girls once more, pacing around the garage. "What are they even doing at the school?" Derek questioned.
"We have Caitlin's jacket, from their date. But it's too covered in ash. They went to see if they could find anything stronger in her locker."
Stiles sighed, "Nothing. Form any of them."
Braeden nodded her head, "If one of them has a car, they can catch up."
"That's a good point." Peter pointed to his nephew's girlfriend, "We'll call from the road."
"No way. What if something happened. I'm already freaking out about Cait, I can't even think about losing all three of my sisters without having a mental breakdown."
"Fine. You stay. You find them. We're gonna go on without you." Peter made his way over to the car.
"I could Mason." Liam spoke up, "He's at a study group at school. Maybe he could look for her."
Lottie looked around the room for a better idea but everyone seemed to give into it. "All right, fine."
First Person POV~ Caitlin Roads/ Holmes
My body ached as I tried to remember the way back to Beacon Hills. Following the path we took when we found Derek. My hand was still covered in silver and with every step more pain came through.
I gave up running a few miles back. Everything in me made me want to fall over. A few tears slipped down my face as the moon came up. "It's all right Kit-Kat."
I looked to my left where my brother now stood. "What's all right?"
"Crying. Feeling pain. Cait, you don't heal like your friends. But here you are, pushing past all of it. It's okay to cry. As long as you're not giving up."
"I'm not giving up. I can't give up."
"See this is why you're the doppelganger. Caity you know they are coming for you and Scott. Meet them halfway. If you can find them, they can keep you alive."
That's when I saw the black van and headlights in front of where I was standing. My whole body shook as I took one more step. "STILES!" I screeched into the night. "STILES! ARE YOU THERE!"
The van skidded to a halt, Braeden leaving the driver seat. "Caitlin?"
"We need to go back. We need to save Scott. He's still alive, but, but Kate has him."
"Caitlin, you look like you're falling apart." Then I heard the scratching in the back of the van, Stiles' voice following it.
I climbed into the passenger seat, watching as Liam almost tore Derek apart. "LIAM!" I screamed with the few octaves of voice I had left. "Liam, look at me. What three things can not long be hidden?"
"Cait?" I ingrained Stiles pressing on with the beta.
"What three things can not long be hidden? LIAM! What are they? What three thing can not long be hidden?"
"The sun..." Liam panted. " The moon.." More panting. "And the truth."
"Now say it with me." I gulped, "The sun. The moon, and the truth." Liam started to mutter the words along with me "The sun, the moon, and the truth." His voice started to become normal. "Say it again." AT this point Braeden was back in the car driving us down to the temple.
"The sun, the moon, and the truth." I watched as his claws retracted. "The sun, the moon and the truth."
I let go of a breath not turning back around in my seat. My eyes focused on Stiles. "How? How did you do that?" Derek asked but Stiles pressed farther.
"How are you always the one to do that? I mean, Scott, Isaac, now Liam. Wait if you're here, where's Scott?"
"Kate has him." We ran over a bump in the road causing me to jump in pain. "But I don't just mean she has him locked up. She turned him into a bereker somehow. And if memory serves me right, Liam's the only one who can get to him."
"What the hell does that even mean?" Stiles started to flair his arms as Liam continued the saying.
"It means, Scott, our best friend, has a skull on his head. Liam got through to him somehow, but remember this, the only way you can tell him apart from the rest is the fact that you can see his tattoo."
~
Braeden parked the car in front of the temple. I jumped out, not really caring about Stiles yelling how suicidal it was seeing as I could barely stand. I felt a hand on my back and everything slipped away.
Slowly I turned to Isaac, his veins still black. "Thanks."
"Anytime. No come on, you said he's still alive, that means we have to save him."
Malia and I froze when we heard the sound of a berserker. We didn't even have time to process what was happening till Derek was pushed to the ground. Brutally stabbed multiple times. I reached my hands out forcing the berserker away, not willing to harm it in case he was Scott.
I raced over to the Hale. His normal leather attire was bloody and darkened. As soon as I laid my hand on him a vision pasted my mind. Derek, fully a wolf, with blue eyes and black fur. Slowly changing back to a human. 'I was evolving.'
I gasped coming out of it. Blood now covering my hands. "How bad is it?" Peter asked as Braeden slid to my side.
"I'm fine, I'm fine. Just get to Scott." Derek was hardly breathing at this point. "Cait, just find him. We'll be right behind you."
I sigh, "Derek look at me. You're not dying. Let it happen, whatever's happening right now, let it. I swear I will see you when we get out of there."
"Ay. Ay captain." I huff out a laugh, pressing a kiss to his check before standing.
~
"This way." Peter led us down the broken halls of the temple. I couldn't tell if that was my doing or Scott's all those months ago. Lottie was practically dragging me along not willing to let go of my hand. I almost fell forward when Peter yelled at us to stop. "We gotta figure out where we are, then we gotta figure out how to find Scott."
I leaned around the corner pulling back when Stiles phone started to ring. "How do I even have service? Hi Dad...Okay, Dad I know you're angry....Okay, well when I get back, you can ground me....You want me to lie?....They were at the school when we called Mason to look for them, but now we're not hearing back from any of the four of them."
"Liam what the hell did I miss?" I nearly grabbed the beta's shirt just so I know he would answer.
I watched his Adam's apple bob out, "Chloe, Evlyyn, and Lydia, went to the school, trying to find something to get your sent, because the jacket we had just smelled like ash. We haven't heard from them since, and when we sent Mason to look from them, we haven't heard back from him either."
"Why didn't anyone think to tell me?" My whole body was about to be ablaze with anger.
"Because we wanted to avoid this." Peter's voice dripped with sarcasm as he pointed to me. "Because we don't have time for any of this!"
Lottie's eyes widen in fear, "Because it messes with your plan." A pain ran through my head at the words. Peter and Kate standing in an abandoned water way. Kate behind him as Peter made a fist with his head. 'Not when I'm this close to killing Scott McCall and Caitlin Holmes.'
When I opened my eyes everyone was looking at me and Stiles was on the phone. My breaths started to shorten as I looked at the Oldest living Hale. Slowly I started to back away from Peter. From everyone. Fear taking over my body. "DUCK!" Malia screamed as I stumbled past an opening to a hall, and fell to the floor.
The beaker didn't even notice me as I pushed myself back on the bones and rock. It was hellbent on Stiles, Lottie, Isaac and Malia, glossing over Liam and Peter. Stiles started to push everyone away from me as the besker followed, running down the hall. Away from me.
Running away from me. Peter wants me dead. But Kate. She wants to make a weapon out of me.
I started running. And running. My mind was cluttered and the echos made my ears hurt, but I kept running. Following the scraping sounds of bone to stone. Following the sounds of Stiles yelling for everyone to get safe.
I ended in a room as soon as Malia turned and growled at Scott, Liam next to her. Stiles, Lottie and Peter were all hiding behind pillars around the room. I didn't think. I just shot both my hands forward, a wind pushing Malia and Liam back.
That got Scott's attention. It was like he wouldn't move, like he was too confused to move. "Scott, Look at me." I took a few steps forward. "I know you're not gonna hurt me. You wouldn't be following orders. Because while Peter may want the two of us dead. Kate wants to weaponize us. So she'll keep you from killing me. She'll either do it herself, or just starve me." Three more steps to Scott. "So while we may have called berserker's monsters before, that doesn't make you one. Scott you're anything but." Two more steps, and a tear, "And in all honesty I have no idea if you can hear me. But I do know, you don't want to do this. Remember the night at the school, when Peter was still an Alpha. You said- you said he wanted you to kill your pack before you could join him. Everything you've done since that night has been to save your pack, right? So Scott, save them." I was close enough to place my hand on his wrist. "Save us."
Third Person POV
Chloe grabbed an aluminum bat from a wire basket. Throwing a second one to her twin. Fear was the only thing keeping them going. Fear that Caitlin was dead. Fear that they were about to be dead. Fear that Lottie never even made it to mexico. "Are you three serious?" Mason asked the two girls as they turned to look at him and Lydia.
"Deadly." Chloe spoke, throwing the last bat to Lydia.
"A baseball bat? Against that guy?" The freshman still couldn't comprehend what he was looking at. "Thing or whatever it is."
"Our friends are in trouble." Evlynn started, turning to face the berserker down the hall. "And so is Liam. You best friend. But not only that. My SISTERS are in trouble. So I am not about to just sit here and wait for death."
Lydia nodded, "She's right. They need us. We're going for it. And yes, with a damn baseball bat."
The three girls started down the hall. Truly attacking the berserker, with the small bats. Now of course it wasn't doing much and each girl was taking harder blows than the next. All three were thrown to the ground, and slid back up the hall. "Lydia what happened to keep us here, not hurt us?" Chloe groaned out.
"I think it changed its mind!"
"Excuse me?" Sheriff Stilinski's vice came from the other side of the berserker. "Catch." The animal caught what the sheriff threw. "GET BACK!" He screamed at the kids as he slid behind a wall. He clicked the button in his hand, blowing up the bomb. Debris and dust flying all around the room. Killing the berserker.
All four teens stood and walked over to the sheriff. All four were amazed at what he had done. "You four okay?" They all nodded as the sheriff picked up the broken outer skull of the creature.
"It was after me." Lydia spoke, "It wanted me to stay in Beacon Hills. I think this was all some sort of distraction."
"Because you knew they're trying to kill someone."
Mason looked at everyone like they were crazy, "Kill who?"
Lydia swallowed some of her spit, "Scott."
~
Allison Argent made her way over to Derek and Braeden behind one of the fallen walls. She wasn't worried about her aunt. Not now. She could hear the gunshots as she leaned over her mentor's dead body. Everyone had come a custom to asking for Derek's help.
Braeden stood from her spot on the ground joining the gun show, but Alison stayed down. Her hands moved over the stab wound in Derek's uperchest. Her eyes fighting tears.
First Person POV~ Caitlin Roads/ Holmes
"Save us." I was still looking Scott right in the eyes. Past all the bones that now covered his body. I could almost feel Peter getting closer. I had one last hope, and no idea if this would work. "Et pugnabit ut salvum te malum ut qui non eligere."
Slowly Scott started to twist away from my hold. I watched him blink a few times. Till his eyes turned red. He twisted his head to the side, a snap following it. I didn't move as he brought his hands up to his head. He started to back away from me, everyone else moving to where I was. We all stood still as Scott looked over his own body, unable to identify it. He started to rip bits of armor off of his arms. Then his chest. Till finally he brought his hand back to his head, tearing the bone on the skull like it was a piece of paper. A yellow light came from it as it broke. Scott let out a roar, his eyes red, and completely shifted.
I let out a few breaths. I didn't even know how that worked. I took a few steps forward. "Caitlin!" Stiles screamed my name as a set of claws came up behind me stopping right before they cut my neck.
"You really thought that would actually work. Did you forget you still had to go threw me?" Peter's voice came as a harsh whisper in my ear. Any fear I had went away replaced by a boiling rage. A burning hungry to see this man hurt.
I let my body work for me. Lighting a flame on my left hand and pressing it to Peter's arm that still held claws to my neck. I heard his body fall to the floor as he screamed in pain. "It's always been you." I said looking down at the man who started all of this. "Killing Laura. Biting Scott. Not fighting Deaculion's pack. Letting us do the work. Getting our assess handed to us. It all leads back to you. Even the deadpool was your idea. And this." I waved my hands around the room, "All because you were so hell bent on revenge that you made a teenage girl watch as you slashed her aunt's throat. But it wasn't just that, no. You just wanted to watch the world burn. I bet you even taught Kate Argent how to make berserkers. Everything that had gone wrong in the past two years. Could be traced back to you. All for power."
"For my family's power. To be rightfully inherited by me." Peter started to stand. "No usurped by some idiot teenage boy, so incorruptible, he won't shed the blood of his enemies even when justified."
"That was also because of you! The one good thing you have ever done in your life was bite Scott in the woods that night. All you want is power. Even when you were just like us. A teenager who had no idea what he was doing. You pushed Derek into asking Eniis to give Paige the bite, just so you could be in good with the other packs."
"BECAUSE I DESERVE IT! I deserve power. It's my right. My FAMILY'S right. You and Scott, never should have been where you are now. You don't deserve power." His eyes shined a deep blue, "Not power like this."
I didn't think twice. Pushing Peter back to where Scott was. Something surged within me as the anger over weighed the pain. A sliver light started to surround me as I came closer to Scott and Peter. "People deserve to die so you can get it? Killing your own niece, because you thought it was rightfully yours? Nothing you have ever done in your life is justifiable."
"Holy shit." "What the hell?" I ignored Isaac and Stiles' words as I pulled Peter away from Scott, forcing him into a pillar on the wall. The silver light around me got brighter.
"If it's a right. You should know I was born like this. This craze that can barely keep her mind straight. A girl who had spent so many nights trying to understand what her mother was teaching her that for days I forget what it was like to be a normal human. A girl who shut herself off from the world. THAT was my right. So fine you want Power. You want to be like me. Shut yourself off. Forget about anything that isn't your own fear and paranoia. Sit alone in silence till you can't even hear yourself think. BECAUSE THAT is what it's like to be me. You want my power, you can have it. It would save me from a lot of shit."
The anger became too much. So I just screamed. And screamed. The sound shaking the building. Peter didn't even get a chance to fight back as the silver glow got brighter, the louder the sound became the brighter the light.
I only stopped when I saw blood spilling from Peter's ears. His eyes flashed back from the icy blue. His body falling into mine. I started to freak thinking I may have killed but I could still feel his heart beating against me as I held him up. He was out cold, but alive.
Every bit of anger that fueled whatever I just did died away. The silver light with it. I let myself step back, lowering Peter to the floor. "He-He's not dead right?" Lottie asked.
"No he's alive. I can still hear his heart." Isaac nearly whispered the words.
Liam looked around the room, "Okay, since no one else is asking. What the hell did you just do?"
My hand began to shake, "I-" My eyes started to fill with tears. "I don't know."
Third Person POV
A Calavera got thrown to the ground by one of the berserkers. Gunfire still firing above him. Kate Argent dug her claws into the back of one of the hunters. "You're next, Araya." The were-jaguar screamed. "I'm coming to kill you next."
The 60 year old hunter extended an electrical wire, "Come. La Loba. Let me show you how the Calaveras die."
Kate let out a roar but stopped at the sound of a wolf's howl. Everyone stopped. They turned to look at the hill. Allison Argent stood, bow in hand, arrow notch. But next to her. Next to her was a beautiful black wolf, his eyes as blue as ice.
The wolf jumped down headed right for Kate Argent. She didn't even get the chance to fight back as the wolf attacked. Kate screamed as she was pushed to the ground. Then the wolf let her go.
Allison climbed down the hillside, standing next to the wolf once more. But what happened next was what got everyone's attention. The wolf started to change. His fur subsiding till Derek hale stood in its place.
"You were... you were dead." Kate Argent struggled out as Derek came closer to her.
"No. I now know what Caitlin meant. By letting it happen. I wasn't dead. I was evolving." Allison let a smirk crawl onto her face as Derek continued, "Something you'll never do." One of Kate's berserkers came at Derek but he dogged it, pulling apart it skull.
A yellow light shines threw till the creature exploded into a dust. The only thing left in Derek's hands was the broken skull.
Kate Argent started to run, but her niece had a different plan. The one Arrow she had notch was dipped in yellow wolfsbane. Allison let the arrow fly till it hit her aunt's upper thigh. The were-jaguar fell back to the ground tuning, "Allison?" Kate didn't think twice about running. Allison chasing her.
Chris Argent went to follow his daughter but Derek held him back. "She needs to do this. We both know Allison won't kill."
~
Allison kept firing shots. Arrow after arrow as her Aunt ran. Farther and Farther down the halls of the temple. Till they stopped. In an open room. Just stone and veins around them. "You want to kill me Allison?"
"No. But I don't want to save you anymore either." Allison took a breath, "After everything, I look back. And I'm not even sure if you're worth saving." Allison felt tears start to form but she wasn't sure if they were from sadness or anger.
"Just like your father. Always trying to make me the bad guy. You can't see them clearly anymore, not like after your mother's death, can you? Cait's not your little hero. None of 'em are." Kate took a few breaths in. "Not when they almost got you killed."
"I lived. BECAUSE of my friends." It took more of Allison than she was willing to admit not to shoot her aunt down. "My supernatural friends." Allison emphasized every word. "They have done more for me than you ever. I mean ever. Have." The girl took a few steps to her aunt. "Caitlin almost died. DIED. for me. And I would do it all over again, even if I did die. As long as I knew my friends would be alive. I'm willing to die for all of them. Who are you willing to die for?"
Kate smirked, twisting her head, "You're not gonna kill me." She started to take a few steps to the right. "And you're not gonna catch me. Not you. Not Peter. And not the Calaveras"
"Maybe I can." A girl spoke from behind Kate Argent. She looked just like Caitlin, but had almost this silver glow. She hit a very confused Kate Argent back of the head till she was knocked out on the floor.
"Who are you?" Allison called after the girl as the silver glow got brighter.
"Don't tell Caitlin." That was all the girl said before the glow took her over and no one was there. Allison didn't know what just happened but she knew one thing. She had met another doppelganger. And that doppelganger was here because of Cait, even if she didn't know it.
First Person POV~ Caitlin Roads/ Holmes.
Allison stood before me and Scott. Her face was beaten up, and her clothes covered in sweat, but she was okay. At least physically okay. "There's enough yellow wolfsbane to keep Peter out for the trip back." She turned to her father. "Dad be careful. I mean it. I can't lose you too."
"Mr. Argent are you really going with them?" I asked, my mind still clouded trying to figure out what that silver light was.
"I made a deal with the Calaveras weeks ago. Allison will be staying with Stiles and his father till I get back. They'll leave you alone. All of you. Though from what I hear, this may be final goodbyes for some. But that's only if I help them with Kate. I'm not how Allison did it, but till I figure it out, I'll be here." Allison walked over to her father pulling him into a hug. Chris bent down, placing a kiss on her forehead before walking away.
"WAIT!" Chris turned back around at my call. "Thank you. For everything. From that time so long ago when you stopped your sister from shooting Scott, to three weeks ago when you helped us try to find the benefactor. You're right I'll probably never see you again. So thank you."
"You're welcome Caitlin. Stay safe." I gave him a smile as he turned back around walking away with the other hunting family.
Scott put his arm around me as we watched them walk away. Everyone came to join us on either side. But it was Isaac who spoke. "Do you have any idea what you did to night Cait?"
I looked over at him, "None."
"I think I have one." We all turned to look at Scott, "I think I could only see it because I was shifted, but those shapes in the light. They were people. And Cait, they looked just like you. I think you found some way to concert with the other doppelgangers."
"That's not possible." I said the words mostly to myself.
"I think it is." Allison spokes, turning to face the rest of us now that her father was off. "I didn't do anything to my Aunt. There was a girl. She came nowhere and knocked my aunt out. And she looked just like you. And when I asked her who she was, all she said was not to tell you. Then she just disappeared in this silver light." Allison trailed off not sure of what happened.
"I think they're right Caity." I looked up from the ground to look at Stiles, "I saw what Scott was talking about. The shapes in the silver light. They looked like an outline of a person. Cait I don't think it was just you fighting Peter. I think you had help from...yourself."
"But-But I've never heard of something like that."
"And three months ago I thought werewolves weren't real." Liam spoke up. "Cait, whatever happened, whatever you, they, did. You did the right thing." I leaned into Scott at Liam's words. This is crazy. But at the same time was it any crazier than banshees and other worlds.
Everyone left Scott, Stiles, and me as Derek helped Braeden into his car. I let go of Scott walking over to the Hale. "I know you don't like physical contact, but if this is goodbye. Give Me a damn hug Derek." He huffed out a laugh before pulling me into a hug. I couldn't believe this was the last fight. They had their whole lives ahead of them, still putting up a fight. Weather ot was the past coming to haunt them (Theo Ranken) Or memory loss (The ghost hunt) or Multiple dnas (Cimaras) But I wouldn't be there. It hurt to think about it.
Derek let go, "Goodbye Caitlin. Stay safe."
"You too." I stepped back watching the car pull away. A hand slipped into mine, but I knew it wasn't Scott. I turned to face Lottie, her face covered in dust. Both of us let go of one tear walking back to everyone else.
~
I stood in the boys locker room, Liam, Isaac, Stiles and Scott trying to explain away why Scott missed the game. It was so dumb that I was here, I wasn't even on the team, but deep down I was okay with it. "Then Stiles said that Scott and Cait were stuck in Mexico which is why he missed the game." Liam was doing that thing Stiles does where he flared his arms trying to explain everything. "Uh, so we went down to Mexico to drive them back from Mexico and that's why we all missed practice. Well except for Cait who isn't on the team. 'Cause.. We were all in Mexico."
All of us rolled our eyes at Coach's shenanigans, as he leaned forward at Liam. Coach clicked his tongue, "You took Cait on a date to Mexico?"
Before Coach could scare the crap out of Scott I spoke up, "Well yeah. Probably more than you've ever done for your girlfriend. If you've had one." I heard Stiles snicker from behind me as Coach looked taken aback.
"Touche Holmes. Okay" He clicked his tongue again, "I believe you."
"Wait, really?" Isaac asked hopeful."
"Absolutely not. But I've had experiences south of the border that would knock the genitals off you boys." Coach looked off to the distance like he was remembering something. "Still, let me be clear to you three." Coach pointed to Stiles and Scott, "This kid's the best talent I've seen in years. So he's your responsibility now. You boys are gonna stick together. You're gonna look out for each other. And you're gonna have each other's backs. You got it?"
All of us smile, looking to Liam, before Scott speaks, "Yeah. We got it." That's when Liam smiled back.

Author's note
OMG guyss. This book is almost done. Wow I did not mean to get this attach to this book. It was just meant to be a time filler. But now I don't want it to be done. Like there two more chapters not including extras. That just makes me so sad.
Okay Love y'all
