------------------

Evan woke up on the couch, his throat dry and aching while his arms were wrapped around a pillow. He yawned, running his eyes as he sat up and let the pillow fall back onto the couch.

He checked the time on the side table; ten thirty, not a bad time.

All of his thoughts and feelings from last night hit him like a truck as he stood up to go to his room. Suddenly he was really sad that he had eaten all the ice cream the night before.

"Craig? Can you go buy me some more ice cream?" Evan yelled into the house, his voice echoing off the walls since it was still pretty much empty. He hoped Craig was awake.

"Yes! Give me like five minutes!" Craig called back down from his room.

"Alright!" Evan said, yawning and curling back up the couch, turning on the TV again and watching some action movie to make himself happy.

A few minutes later, Craig came downstairs, all dressed and ready to head out.

"I'll be back, I shall bring home ice cream." He called, heading to the living room to say goodbye.

Jonathan: Tyler

Jonathan: Tyler

Jonathan: Tyler please dude

Tyler: why the fuck are you texting me we're already in trouble what else did you do to the poor guy

Jonathan: nothing, but I need a favor

Tyler: blocked

Jonathan: Come on Tyler, this one isn't that bad, I swear

Tyler: what is it?

Jonathan: I just need you to keep Craig out of the house for a few hours so I can talk to Evan

Tyler: No

Jonathan: why not?

Tyler: because no, bye

Jonathan: Tyler, please, I'm begging you

Jonathan: I just want to try to fix the relationship I ruined in the first place

Jonathan: You're really doing this, Ty?

Jonathan: Fine, I'll risk the wrath of both of them then, please make sure I have a nice funeral

-------------

Tyler: Hey, can we talk?

Craig: Fine, I had to go get some shit anyway

Craig: Meet me at the pizza place, twenty minutes and if I'm not there get a large pepperoni

Tyler: bossy much?

Craig: shut the fuck up you owe me and you know it

Tyler: right

-------------------

The knock on the door made Evan jump, he was so sure that Craig had remembered to grab his keys before he left.

But then, why would he knock on the door instead of texting him? Did he order food or something?

Either way, Evan had to haul himself off the couch and trudged over to open the door.

"Hel-Oh. What do you want? Haven't you already done enough?" Evan snarled at Jonathan, who stood guiltily on the porch.

"Evan, I just want to talk, please. I'm sorry-"

"If you were sorry you wouldn't have done it at all, let alone make Tyler hide it."

"I know I made a mistake, but just-"

"No."

"What?"

"No, I'm done with you, I'm done with this."

"What do you mean?"

"I mean I'm breaking up with you, now please just leave it at that."

"Wait, Evan, don't do this. I love-"

"Stop."

"Stop what?"

"Stop saying that."

"What? That I love you? Why should I stop?"

"Because you don't know what that means."

"Of course I do! Evan, come on, this is ridiculous."

"No, I'm not, you don't know what it means to love someone, Jonathan."

"I do-"

"Well here's a tip then, Mr. Love Expert, if you love someone, then don't cheat on them with the pizza delivery guy."

Evan slammed the door shut, anger coursing through his veins. There was a lot he wanted to say, he wanted to scream and yell and just let out his anger how he normally would, but he couldn't. There was something stopping him, because at the end of the day he still had to protect Jonathan, no matter what happened.

So Evan tried to stay on okay terms with him, hence why he didn't at least punch him, but it was hard. Because that's all he wanted to do.

---

Jonathan sighed as soon as the door shut in his face. He had ruined it, everything he had with Evan, it was really gone.

Slowly, he made his way back onto the sidewalk, going over the conversation he just had.

Until he realized he couldn't leave it like that. He didn't want Evan to hate him, he wanted to still be on Evan's good side, because he was an amazing friend and Jonathan was just realizing what he was doing to him. And he needed to fix that.

So, he turned back around and knocked on the door.

-----------------

"Yo." Craig said, a mix of a cold and dismissive tone.

"Hey." Tyler's voice was cautious and careful, he was fully aware of every word that came out of his mouth. Craig was like a ticking time bomb, any minute he could explode.

"So, are we gonna talk or are you just gonna look at me like I'm about to murder you." He picked up a slice of pepperoni, biting into the slice as he looked at the boy in front of him with a bored expression.

"I-I just want you to know that I didn't know for long, okay? Just a week, and I was gonna tell you, I really was, but Jonathan was just so jumpy and making sure nothing slipped and I couldn't find the time to tell you."

"I was at your house all of last weekend." Craig bluntly replied, wiping pizza grease off his face with a napkin. "Couldn't you have told me then?"

"I would have if I had known that Jonathan wasn't even gonna show up to his date with Evan." Tyler growled to himself, but saying it loudly enough for Craig to hear.

"He didn't show up?" Craig's voice was tight, suddenly angrier at his brother's ex-boyfriend than he was before.

"Evan didn't tell you?" Tyler was shocked, after all, it had been a pretty big thing and he had figured Evan would have at least told Craig.

"If he had told me, do you really think that Jonathan would be alive and well right now?" Craig sarcastically replied, adding an edge to his words.

Tyler knew that he was doing this for both Jonathan and himself. He needed to talk to Craig and Jonathan needed to talk to Evan, but he suddenly didn't want to do it for Jonathan.

What had he done for him? Just a date with Craig, but nothing else, even though Tyler had come very close to losing his own boyfriend for him, because of what he decided to do to Evan.

"Hey, Craig?" Tyler couldn't back down now, he was really doing this. He pulled out his phone, bringing up his messages with Jonathan.

"Yeah?"

"I did really want to talk to you, but you should know something." Tyler held up his phone to his boyfriend, who at first started reading with a confused expression before it turned into realization.

"That son of a bitch."

--------------------------

"Will you just fuck off?" Evan snapped as soon as he opened the door just to stop Jonathan's constant knocking.

"No, not until we work this out and be a happy couple again." Jonathan tried to sound persistent and stubborn, but found it hard underneath Evan's angry glare.

Evan grabbed something off the table next to the door, marching up to his ex and jabbing a finger into his chest."I don't think you get it, Jonathan. Which honestly doesn't surprise me, after what you've done, so let me say it a bit more clearly. We. Are. Done." Evan's face was about an inch away from Jonathan's, his voice angrier than Jonathan had ever heard.

Suddenly an object was shoved against his chest, and instinctively Jonathan's hands flew up to catch it as Evan let go. He gripped it and opened his hand so he could see what it was.

It was the dog tag necklace he had given to Evan a few days ago.

"Evan, come on-Let's talk about this-"

In an instant, Evan spun around, grabbing Jonathan's shirt collar and pulling him closer, annoyance and slight hatred burning in his eyes.

"I told you, there's nothing to fucking talk about, I trusted you, and in return you slept with some fuck who delivered a pizza. Now if you think for one second I am going to forgive you for what you did, you're wrong. So take a hike, before I make you." For a split second, Evan could feel his eyes flash completely red, and that caused him to immediately let go, backing away in fear that Jonathan had saw. The fear that he had just ruined everything.

Jonathan blinked, scared and confused, scared because of how mad Evan sounded, and confused about how quickly he backed away after he made that statement.

And he could've swore Evan sounded so angry that Jonathan had imagined him with glowing red eyes for a spilt second.

"I-I should go, I forgot I had some shit to do, today." Jonathan spoke, gripping the necklace and not casting Evan a second glance as he took off down the sidewalk.

A few minutes later, after Jonathan had disappeared from Evan's view, Craig came running up, holding a plastic bag with ice cream.

"Evan, are you okay? What did that shithead say? Do I need to kick his ass?" He placed a hand on his back, causing him to flinch slightly, but soon relaxed as they walked inside.

"Ev?"

"I don't know. I don't fucking know. Did you bring ice cream? I could really use some fucking ice cream right now."

"Evan, you're swearing way more than usual, what just happened?" Craig said, pulling out the ice cream in case Evan was in the type of mood where he would lash out in a heartbeat.

"We were just talking, I don't even think he saw it." Evan began to eat his ice cream after he dug out a spoon from the drawer.

"Saw what Evan?" Craig demanded.

"I may have gone demons eyes on him for a split second, but I don't think he saw! Fuck! What if he saw, Craig? What's gonna happen then? I'm sorry, I'm so sorry, Craig, I fucked it all up, I fucked it up!" Evan was panicking over this, while Craig tried to understand.

"Did he look scared? Usually that's what happens when humans see the demon eyes."

Evan's breathing began to slow as he shook his head. "No, no, he didn't look 'I just saw a demon scared', he looked scared about what I said to him." Evan was flustered, a million thoughts rushing through his head.

"Hey calm down, just tell me what happened, here, bring your ice cream and let's go sit down." Craig said, not wanting Evan to completely freak out, enough was going with him.

-----------------

Jonathan showed up at Tyler's house, his parents were out for the evening and he needed to talk to his friend.

"What more do you want from me?" Tyler said as soon as he opened the door.

"It, it didn't work out. You were right, Tyler, he really does hate me. I ruined everything, and I don't even think it was worth it." Jonathan was on the verge of tears, wanting his friends sympathy.

"You deserve it, you know that at least right?" Jonathan nodded. "Alright, then come on in." Tyler let his friend in, having too much heart to leave him out in the cold.
