Chapter 46
GUYS THIS CHAPTER MADE MY EDITOR SWEAR FOR THE FIRST TIME IVE FINALLY BROKE HER
---------------------
"Does this look okay?" Six thirty and Craig was busy worrying about his outfit for his date with Tyler.
Evan looked up from his phone, eyeing the demon up and down and tilting his head.
"I think that the gray ripped jeans look better with that flannel, to be completely honest."
"Alright, give me a second." Walking back into his closet, he retrieved the jeans and walked over to the bathroom to change.
Walking out, Evan smiled at him. "Much better. Now you better get going if you want to make it to Tyler's by seven."
"Shit, you're right. Okay, see you later, dude." Craig said as he rushed out of the room, a couple minutes later being out the door.
Evan walked out of Craig's room, his eyes still glued to his phone as he texted his boyfriend.
Evan: Hey I thought maybe we could grab dinner before the movie, that okay with you?
No immediate reply, but Evan shook it off, not everyone could be on their phone at all times like him. Some people had families, social events, family commutes, inexplicable urges to sleep.
So he didn't immediately reply, no big deal, he would see the text eventually. Right?
-------------------------
Jonathan's phone buzzed, causing him to groan in annoyance.
"Seriously? You ring now?" He asked, pulling away from Luke to pick up his phone.
A message. From Evan.
Unlocking his phone, he went to Evan's contact and put their messages on 'Do Not Disturb' mode.
He put the phone down and went back over to Luke. "It shouldn't bother us anymore." Jonathan said, going right back to kissing Luke.
Leaving the message unread; the message from Evan, who he had a date with tomorrow night.
The date he forgot about.
-----------------------------
"You, you look amazing, Tyler." Craig said as soon as Tyler opened the door, smiling.
"So do you." Tyler blushed lightly, glancing at the ground in embarrassment. He closed the door and joined Craig in walking down the sidewalk. "I already told my parents I was leaving."
Craig linked their arms. "Well, I hope you're hungry, I made reservations for us."
"Oh, its not somewhere super expensive right? I'd feel terrible if that were the case."
"Relax, it's not super expensive, I just made reservations so we wouldn't have to wait in line, trust me it's much easier. Just walk in and look at everyone else like absolute peasants."
"Why am I not surprised you would say that?"
"I spend too much time with Evan."
Tyler internally tensed, he most definitely did not want to talk about Evan in fear that the secret might slip. But, he really couldn't avoid it, Craig and Evan are best friends, of course he was going to come up.
"Of course not, you two are best friends, seems like a normal amount to me."
"I guess, sometimes I just feel we're too much alike, you know? I mean, he gets a boyfriend, now I'm on a date with his boyfriend's best friend. Wait, sorry, I'm being weird aren't I? I guess Evan's anti-sociableness is getting to me."
"No, no you're fine. It's probably first date nerves, happens to everyone."
"Oh, well that makes me feel better then."
---------------------------
Evan: Babe, we're meeting at the park at 6:30, right?
Evan: Babe?
Evan: Jonathan
Evan: Fucking answer me damnit
Evan: Are you okay?
Evan: Babe, it's been like an hour where the fuck are you?
Evan: Are you even reading these fucking messages?
Evan: where the hell are you? It's now been two hours
Evan: You know what, I'm going home, don't fucking bother anymore, next time tell me when you're not gonna show up
----------------------------
Evan walked into his house, angry and hurt, angry because Jonathan hadn't shown up, and hurt because Jonathan hadn't shown up.
Luckily, Craig had gone on yet another date with Tyler that night and had told Evan he would be staying at his house. Which meant Evan was going to be alone tonight.
Good, I don't even want to talk with anyone. He thought to himself as he trudged up his stairs.
He entered his room, shutting the door despite being the only one in the house. Evan laid down on his bed, fighting the urge to break something.
Don't get mad, Ev, don't get mad. Yeah, he stood you up, but he never verbally broke up with you, you still have a boyfriend.
"What good is a boyfriend if they don't show up to dates we planned like a week ago?" He called bitterly into his room. "Jackass better have a damn good excuse is all I'm saying."
He groaned, sitting up so that his legs were dangling off the edge of his bed. For the first time in a few weeks, he didn't know what to do about what had happened.
Does he yell? Cry? Spam his phone? Ignore him? He just didn't know. What does someone do when their significant other stands them up?
Well, Evan assumed it didn't matter since he had a special case, one part of him was begging to scream at Jonathan, while the other was saying that he shouldn't because he's a guardian. He was torn.
Finally, he decided to shut off his phone before he made a stupid decision, and he laid back down, closing his eyes and letting himself fall asleep.
-----------------------------------
Jonathan woke up on Sunday morning cuddled into a very warm chest.
That's weird, I don't remember going to Evan's last night.
He stayed there for a few minutes before his eyes shot open.
"Fuck! Evan!" He shouted unintentionally, waking up Luke.
"What's going on?" The boy asked tiredly.
"I-I forgot I had a date last night, fuck he's gonna kill me!" Jonathan said, leaping out of bed and picking up his phone.
Pressing the messages button, he saw that his conversation with Evan was already open. And his heart immediately sank as he rushed out of Luke's house.
I fucked up, I fucked up. He hates me, I can just imagine those messages in his voice. Fuck, he hates me.
-------------------
Evan stood up from the couch in the living room to answer the door, where whoever it was was still knocking like a madman.
"What?" He snapped as he opened the door, not seeing that it was his boyfriend. "Oh, its you." He said once he saw Jonathan.
"Evan, I'm so, so sorry about last night, I totally didn't mean to blow you off. It's just I had you on 'Do Not Disturb' and I didn't-"
"What?" Evan interrupted, not sure he had heard him right. "You had me, your boyfriend, on 'Do Not Disturb'?" Anger was clear in his voice.
Fuck, fuck, fuck, you don't tell your boyfriend that, idiot! Jonathan though crossly to himself as he struggled for a reply.
"It's, its kind of hard to explain, why don't we go inside?" He was nervous, this could be the moment he had been dreading since he met Luke.
Evan sighed, allowing him entrance. "Fine, let's go to the living room. Craig's not home."
Jonathan stepped inside, waiting for Evan to close the door and lead the way, despite having been there before.
They entered the room, and Jonathan began to try to make things right.
"I'm sorry, Ev, it's just another family thing came up and-" Evan interrupted him.
"You know a lot family things have been coming up lately, Jonathan. No offense, but I've met your family, and I don't think they could have so much going on that you have to basically ignore me! What the hell is actually going on, Jonathan?" He could tell that Evan was irritated, he had an angry tone in his voice.
So, he did the only thing he knew that would clear Evan's head so he didn't have to answer that question.
He kissed him.
