Chapter 34
I LEAVE TOMORROW OMG
----------------
"So, what are we now?" The question left Evan's lips smoothly, not a trace of the uncertainty he felt in his stomach. Honestly, a part of him did not want the answer to that question.
"Whatever you want to be." Jonathan said, digging his spoon into the ice cream in front of him, putting a fairly large dollop into his mouth.
Fear crept through Evan, after what had happened earlier, this type of decision was not something he wanted to make.
Jonathan must have noticed Evan stiffen, because he quickly responded. "You don't have to make a decision, just answer one question, okay? It's a yes or no, can you do that?" It made Evan's heart melt that Jonathan cared so much.
Licking his ice cream, Evan nodded, his shoulders no longer tense.
Jonathan nodded. "Alright then, so, will you be my boyfriend?" It was the type of question Evan loved, straight to the point.
"Yes." He said almost instantly, not taking any time to think about what it meant because he had already thought too much today.
"So, that means we're dating now, babe." Jonathan said, smiling at Evan.
Dating, how do I do that? Evan thought, worry beginning to form in the back of his head as he realized he knew remotely nothing about dating.
Trying to calm himself down, he decided to ask a stupid question.
"What does that mean? Stupid, I know, but just, what does dating mean? My parents never really talked about it much, you know?" Evan asked shyly, looking down at the table as he continued to eat his ice cream.
"Really? Never? Well, dating is when two people like each other, like more than friends, so they have a relationship. They hug, kiss, sleep in the same bed, spend lots of time together, and eventually, if they love each other enough, they get married. Does that make sense?" He explained, looking at Evan sympathetically.
Slowly, Evan nodded. "Yes, I think. So, when two people are dating, it's just like a really close friendship? God, I sound so stupid right now." He said, shaking his head at himself.
Jonathan immediately shut him down. "No, you don't sound stupid at all. Some people can live to be thirty five and still not know what dating is, you're fine. Plus, now you know, and as a bonus, you have a boyfriend!" He said, grabbing one of Evan's hands.
Evan, too distracted by the warm feeling he got when holding Jonathan's hand, nodded along and continued to eat.
The two finished their ice cream in comfortable silence.

The driver pulled the car to the side of the road, sighing as he laid his head on the steering wheel.
"What's wrong? Why'd we stop 'ere? We have places we need to be!" He spoke in confusion and anger, he had never really been in a car before, so this form of travel was new to him.
The driver sighed, before turning his head to his friend. "We have a flat tire, which means we can't drive until we replace it." He explained in a monotone voice.
"Oh, you have got to be kidding me! How long will this shit take?" He roared, slamming his hands onto the front of the car.
"Well, I have to call someone first so stay here." The driver said, exiting the car and pulling out his phone.
"We don't have time for this shit, we have a mission." The other man grumbled to himself as he waited in the passenger seat.

"That's it, I'm going out! I need to do something other than sit around here all the time!" Craig yelled into his empty room, getting up from his bed, throwing the door open and marching into the empty hall.
He glanced at Evan's closed door, stopping himself for a few seconds as a small wave of guilt washed over him.
Maybe Jonathan is right, he said, unknowingly getting closer to his friend's room, like he was still there. Earth is different, maybe I should act different, like Evan.
Silently, he turned the knob and pushed open the door, being met with the familiar sight of black walls and horror movie posters. Very few photos were scattered around, the bed lay unmade and his sketchbook was on top of the desk chair.
I shouldn't be here, this is Evan's private space. He told himself, but venturing deeper inside. Evan never lets Craig into his room, no matter what, it's like some big secret he's keeping from him, even though it's a pretty normal room.
Still, there was just something so mysterious and....dark about the room, just because it belonged to Evan, really. I mean, Craig knew him, but, sometimes he wondered if he really did, he knew that Evan just had a lot of things inside that he just built up, but he never knew the extent.
And the room....the room just seemed so much more open, if it was messy than Evan was either stressed or upset or just not in the best of moods, and if it was absolutely perfect he was anxious or bored, the room just fit him, Craig couldn't explain.
Finally, he snapped out of the trance and darted out of the room, closing the door once more and walking downstairs.
Fixing his hair in the front hall mirror, he opened the front door and left, taking off down the sidewalk for a much needed walk.
Because, not only did he need to come up with some kind of apology, he needed to look for his friend.
