Chapter 17
Monday morning. Everyone's favorite day of the week of course.
Yet Craig was stuck in a stuffy waiting room full of snot nosed brats- I mean sick children, sandwiched between the wall and a sneezing five year old as he waited for someone to call his name.
Sebastian was leaning against the wall next to him, since there just had to be a pillar next the chair Craig had chosen. They had just sent Evan into a hospital room and were waiting for the test results.
Craig didn't think Evan would be this bad, to be completely honest. After all, concussions were a very common injury for humans, he didn't think it could affect a demon as well. So when they had picked Evan up at the skatepark they figured he could just sleep off the pain.
Until he woke up the next morning, calling Craig's name repeatedly. His brother had rushed into his room to see Evan holding his head in pain as he curled into a ball on his side, the sheets of his bed now a tangled mess around him.
"It's hurts so bad." Evan had repeated over and over as Craig asked him what was wrong.
Now, about forty five minutes later, Craig was waiting to hear about Evan's condition.
Checking his phone for the tenth time, not even sure why he was checking it since his friends were in school, Craig abruptly stood up and started a small pace back and forth.
Maybe it was the kid next to him sneezing every few seconds, snot running from his nose as rapidly wiped it off on his sleeve, or the baby crying continuously in the corner as his mother tried to calm it down, but he was irritated. Humans were absolutely infuriating.
And it did not help that he was realizing the incompetence of the human race as his best friend was in the custody of them. Especially since he was injured.
Meanwhile Sebastian watched Craig in amusement, a smile tugging on his lips as he tuned out the crying baby and several other irritating noises.
"If you're so worried maybe you should text your friends, I'm sure they are very interested in Evan's condition. Considering they put him here." Sebastian suggested, stopping Craig mid-pace.
"They didn't mean to hurt him! Besides they're in school, I can't text them now. Although they should know why I'm not there." Craig said, breaking off towards the end as he continued to pace while pondering over whether or not he should text his friends.
"You can text them, they just may not respond, isn't that what texting is all about?" Sebastian retorted, his temper starting to snap as he listened to the white noise of the room.
Craig ignored his tone, pulling out his phone as he caved on the idea of texting. To make it easier, he just used a group chat, something that Tyler had shown him to do at the sleepover.
Craig: Took Evan to the hospital, waiting on his results. Won't be at school for a couple days
Pressing send, he let out a sigh, shoving his phone back in his pocket as he sat back down in the shitty plastic chair. He ran a hand through his messy hair, frustrated that he hadn't had time to style it earlier and also mad that he was worrying over his hair.
Crossing his arms over his chest, he leaned his head back against the wall as he continued to wait for a nurse to give him something.

"Did you see Craig's text?" Tyler asked as he sat down at the cafeteria table, holding his phone and his tray at the same time.
"What text?" Lui asked at the same time Jonathan replied. "Don't remind me."
Tyler handed his phone to Lui, who passed it to everyone else as Jonathan sank lower into his seat. "It's all my fault, I brought the damn booster board."
Putting away his phone as David handed it back, Tyler turned to Jonathan sympathetically.
"Don't blame yourself, dude. No one thought Evan was going to get hurt." He placed his hand on his shoulder, rubbing it comfortingly.
"Yeah, but now he's in the hospital, Tyler. Remember yesterday? His concussion was really bad." Placing his elbows on the table, resting his head in his hands in guilt, Jonathan ignored Tyler's attempts to cheer him up.
"Hey guys." Craig suddenly appeared, sitting right next to Tyler as everyone looked up in shock.
"Craig? What are you doing here? I thought you were at the hospital?" David asked immediately.
Craig nodded. "I was, but Sebastian insisted that I come to school, so he dropped me off and said he would update me if anything happened." He said, then with a quick glance at his friends' confused faces he added, "Sebastian is our butler, he's taking care of us for a few weeks while we get adjusted to life here."
"You have a butler?!" Marcel asked in shock, Craig nodded in response.
Brian had opened his mouth to say something when Jonathan spoke up.
"Craig, I'm really sorry about Evan, it was my fault and I didn't mean to hurt him." He spoke, almost afraid to look at Craig since he knew that he had a short temper like Evan.
However, Craig did not get mad at Jonathan, instead, he flashed him a friendly smile. "It's fine Jonathan, Evan doesn't blame you, he knows you didn't mean to. Don't worry."
"He doesn't blame me? I could've swore he would hate me after all that, I put him in the hospital for fucks sake!" Jonathan was surprised that Craig was so cool about Jonathan landing Evan in the hospital.
"Okay, you're right about that, but to be fair no one thought Evan was gonna have to go to the hospital. Seb and I thought he could just sleep it off, but obviously we were wrong." Craig said, hoping to calm down his friends.
"Was it really bad this morning?" David asked, anxious to know about his friend.
Craig gave a half-shrug before explaining, "I was just gonna let him sleep, to be honest, but then he called me into his room. I barely heard him to be honest, but when I saw him I freaked out. He looked so miserable and was complaining about his head hurting, so Seb decided he needed to go to the hospital, he passed out on the way there." He said nonchalantly, tearing a piece off of Tyler's yet-to-be-eaten pizza.
Most of the table had paled at hearing the details of Craig's eventful morning, pushing their trays forward as their appetites retreated. Meanwhile Craig continued to eat Tyler's pizza, who appeared to not mind at all.
Instead, Tyler stared at Craig with an expression of surprise and shock. "How the hell are you so calm about him being in the hospital? He could be really hurt!" He exclaimed matter-of-factly.
Craig shrugged, finishing the last bit of pizza he had. "He's been through worse." He said dismissively, shutting the discussion down. "So," He brightened up a bit, looking at his friends with a wide grin. "What did I miss?"
But the guys were too busy focusing on Craig's ominous answer. He's been through worse, how the hell can it get worse than a major concussion.
Suddenly, it appeared the new kids had more secrets than they originally thought.
