Silence

So I originally planned on writing the Nexus in here but I decided to put it in the next chapter so yeah, enjoy.

It was early morning and Jamie was the first one to wake up, he noticed that Scott was still asleep. He remembered what happened last night, he remembered how Scott and Matt were arguing yesterday, it was common for the two of them to argue but the way Matt was acting made him worry. He remembered how in the dream world they tried to talk to the boy but he wouldn't respond, and when he did it was only to argue with them.

Jamie walked into the kitchen as memories about last night started to appear.

"Come on Matt, just talk to us," Jamie spoke.

Matt just sat there looking out into the colorless ocean.

"Why should I, none of you are talking so why should I?"

"If this is about dinner I'm sorry, is that what you wanted to hear?" Scott argued, growing impatient by the minute, Matt remained silent. "Oh my fucking god, are you going to say anything!"

Jamie placed a hand on Scott's shoulder, signaling him to calm down, Scott looked at his brother and decided to walk away to blow off some steam.

"Matteo, please talk to us, we're all worried about you," Pedro spoke, he frowned as he received no response from the English boy.

'That was basically how all night went, why can't he just talk to us?' Jamie thought as he grabbed a cup of water, turned on the TV, and sat on the couch.

Jamie never liked the quiet, there was just something about it that he didn't like, It could be that the quiet made him feel alone and it forced him to be alone with his thoughts. He knew he was being a hypocrite since he became the very thing he hated but he couldn't help it, he felt so much grief on his shoulder and he didn't want to make it worse. He was thankful for Scott, he was being brave for the both of them but Jamie worries that he might be holding back like him.

Jamie heard someone coming downstairs, he turned and saw Scarlett trying to wake herself.

"Jamie?" She said, uncertain of which of the twins she talking to.

"Yeah, it's me, Scott still asleep." Scarlett went to the couch and sat next to Jamie.

Scarlett's reaction to Richard's death was similar to Jamie, she was quiet, never spoke to anyone, but the difference between the two was that she always puts up a false smile. She thinks the others don't see the difference but they do, Jamie looks at Scarlett and notices that her bright green eyes were dull, the spark in her eyes were gone but maybe he could fix that.

"Scarlett...are you okay?" He asked, Scarlett then turned to face Jamie, her eyes showing concern.

"What do you mean?"

"You've been silent lately,"

"So have you."

"Yeah I know but I'm genuinely worried about you Scarlett," Jamie got closer to Scarlett. "It's not just that, you've been faking your smile, it's like you're trying to hide something and I want to why?"

Scarlett looked down, feeling ashamed of herself. "The reason I've been quiet is because...I don't want to put the burden on you."

"What are you talking about?"

"You know that when I'm upset I talk to someone about what I'm thinking, ever since Richard died I was hoping I could talk to you guys about how I've been feeling lately, but seeing how everyone's been I've just stayed silent."

"Scarlett, why would you think that?"

"Well everyone seems so sad, Lohan, Pedro, Scott, Matt, and you... I just don't want to add on to that by talking about Richard or talking about how I feel."

"Scarlett..." Jamie understood now, Scarlett felt like she didn't have a voice in this like she couldn't express her true feelings because she fears that she might hurt others in the process, he placed a hand on her shoulder. "If you wanted someone to talk to then I'm all ears."

"I don't want to hurt you."

"Scarlett, you know that I'm going through the same thing, we all are, and if talking is what's going to help you then go for it."

Scarlett gave Jamie a smile as tears started to form in her eyes, she started telling Jamie about what she was feeling, how Richard's death was affecting her, how worried she was for the others, and how things were going to be different. It felt nice for both of them, Scarlett was finally able to let out everything she was bottling up and Jamie was just happy to talk to someone. It got to a point where they were actually talking about memories they had of Richard, they were smiling and laughing.

"Remember the time he left us home alone and we ended up having an all-out food war?" Scarlett asked as she was trying to calm her laughter.

"How can I forget, that's the reason he wouldn't leave us home alone again." Jamie laughed.

"I mean you did throw leftover mashed potatoes at his face by accident." She giggled.

"Excuse you, that was Scott."

"No, I think I remember it was the twin with his bangs parted to his left."

"Remember when we found out that if he got too emotional he would let out his accent."

"Oh my god, I remember! You and Pedro broke the window and he got so angry that he ended up letting out his accent, he was so embarrassed by it that he just forgave you two and told you to never to tell anyone."

"Of course, everyone else found out later on."

Scarlett and Jamie were laughing until they heard someone else coming downstairs, they turned their heads and saw Scott, who was smiling at what he was seeing.

"Looks like you two are finally talking again."

"Good morning, Scott." Scarlett greeted, trying to calm her laughter.

"Morning bro."

"I'm making breakfast, what do you guys want?" Scott asked

"Eggs." Said, Jamie

"Pancakes." Said Scarlett, they both glared at each other with a smile on their face.

"I'll see what I can do." Scott walked into the kitchen with a smirk on his face

"Well, I'm gonna get ready for the day." Scarlett got up from the couch. "Hey Jamie, thanks for talking with me."

"No problem and thanks for letting me talking with you, maybe you're not as annoying as I thought you were."

"Fuck you." Scarlett joked as she punched Jamie on the shoulder.

"You too."

Soon everyone started getting up and headed downstairs to eat, everyone but Matt that is.

"He hasn't come out at all, I'm worried about him," said Scarlett as she kept staring at the stairs. "Maybe someone should go and check on him?"

"I don't know Scarlett, last time we tried to get him to talk he just argued with us, the little prick." Scott pointed out as he sat down with the others.

"I know I shouldn't have let him stay in that room," Lohan spoke, disappointed with himself.

"Relax, I'll go check on him." Jamie got up from his seat and grabbed the plate for Matt. "Just in case he doesn't come out."

Jamie headed towards Richard's room, he felt a pit in his stomach, something deep inside knew he was never going to get Matt to talk to him but at the very least he could try. He stood outside the door, he knocked a couple of times and called out for the boy, he knew Matt was awake due to the fact that he could hear the boy's thoughts.

'It's my fault It's my fault It's my fault.'

Jamie then decided that the best decision was to just go in, he went inside and saw Matt curled up in Richard's bed with the blanket covering him, the only part that Jamie was able to see of the boy was his messy hair.

"Hey, Matt... I brought you some breakfast." Jamie spoke as he put on a smile. "You doing okay?"

Jamie saw Matt shift a little but that was all.

'Yeah cause losing someone you consider family automatically means you're okay.'

The taller boy winced at Matt's response, knowing that he should have phrased the question differently.

"Listen, Matt, I know you miss Richard, we all do and we understand that you need time, we all do but we're worried about you." Jamie put a hand on Matt's shoulder. "You haven't been talking, you haven't been eating, you wouldn't leave your room when we were in the lodge and you're doing the same thing here, Matt we're worried."

Matt didn't respond, he had a blank look in his eyes and remained still.

Jamie knew that Matt was never going to talk to him nor was he ever going to come out of the room. He patted Matt on his shoulder and left the room, he glanced at the boy on the bed one last time then he shut the door. Matt turned to face the door then he looked around the room, memories started to flood as tears started to pour out from his eyes.

"They gave you extra work?" Matt asked as Richard was typing on his laptop.

"Yup and I have to turn it in by tonight," Richard responded.

"That must be a pain."

"You know the others are here and they don't have work, you can talk to them instead."

"Nah, I feel like bugging you instead." Matt joked as he poked Richard on the shoulder.

"We'll see who gets the last laugh when I'm bugging you while you're playing your video games."

"You wouldn't dare."

Matt felt more tears fall from his face as he remembers that memory.

"Please come back, Richard."

Later at night

Jamie and Scarlett were playing video games, Scott and Pedro were watching them play, and Lohan was currently working on funeral preparations, it wasn't until they heard a knock from the door. Scott was the one to answer and was then greeted with a hug, it wasn't long until he realized that it was Alicia who was hugging him.

"Nice to see you too Alicia but can you let me go, I can't breathe."

"Oh, sorry, it's good to see you again."

"Alica, Danny!" Jamie dropped his control and went to hug Alicia. "How was your flight?"

"It was good, though Danny is kind of out of it." Alicia pointed to the small boy who was trying to keep his balance while also trying to stay awake.

"He can sleep in Matt's room since he's not using it," Scott spoke as he took Danny by the arm and started guiding him to Matt's room.

"Speaking of, where is he?"

"He's in Richard's room, he's been there since last night and hasn't come out since," Scarlett spoke as she put the game on pause.

"Oh, poor boy."

"Greetings Alicia." Lohan greeted the women.

"Nice to see you again, Lohan" She responded, it seemed like Alicia was somewhat intimidated by the man in front of her, no surprise since Alicia and Lohan were never close and whenever she visited them he would be traveling, there were only a few times she would see him.

"Thank you once more for coming at our time of need."

"I forgot how formal you are."

"Well we already know where Danny is sleeping but where should you sleep, Alicia?" Jamie spoke.

"I can just sleep on the couch, I'm okay with that."

The others helped Alicia with her and Danny's bag, Alicia couldn't help look upstairs. She couldn't help but think about what Scarlett said about Matt and how he hasn't left Richard's room.

"I'm going to check on Matt, is that okay?" She asked.

"Yeah but you're not gonna get a response from him," Jamie responded as he unpaused the game.

Alicia went upstairs, thinking about what Matt might be feeling. When her husband died she was heartbroken and devastated, she had to remind herself that she still had to take care of Danny who was only a few years old at the time. He still lives on in her heart but the thought of him being gone was still painful.

She opened the door to see that Matt was indeed still in bed, she went right up to him and sat on the bed.

"Hi Matt, it's me, Alicia." She said, there was no response. "I'm sorry about Richard, I know you two were close but please know that I'm here to help you all through this and that I'm right here if you need to talk to me."

She ruffled the boy's hair and started heading out, she turned once more to look at the boy, wondering if there was anything she could do to help the boy.

Alicia and Danny are here people!
So finals are next weeks and I'm currently working non some projects so who knows if this chapter will come out late, guess we'll find out. Peace out
