Obito had overheard someone talking about a meeting to kill Naruto, so decided to follow them to the meeting. He was there for hours, hearing them scheme, and memorizing their faces. He was disappointed to see some people he used to help out around the village, there, plotting a child's death.

Once it was over he decided to look for Naruto, so that he could watch him. His blood ran cold as he heard a terrible scream, and felt familiar chakra. He dashed to the scream, that was undeniably Narutos. He arrived in time to see a clearly drunk ninja pulling a kunai out of Narutos Left eye. He saw Naruto whip his head up, and was shocked as he saw his Mangekyo in his eyes. He felt his own swirl into existence, and he flashed in front of the man, who appeared affected by the Mangekyo. He stabbed the Shinobi through the chest, snarling, " That's for harming my brother!" His Mangekyo swirled, and the air around the body warped, sucking the body into Obitos Kamui dimension.

He turned to Naruto, who stared at him. He was swaying dangerously, and his left eye was still healing. "Nii-chan?" He muttered, before his eyes rolled back, and he dropped like a stone. Obito lunged forward, catching Naruto and clutching him securely in his arms. He stood, Naruto cradled against his chest and dashed to the forest, stopping by his senseis safe house and grabbing the first aid kit. He laid Naruto down gently, and checked his injuries. They were near healed, steam rising off of the wounds as they closed rapidly.

Obito pulled out a cloth, and began to clean the blood off of Naruto, removing his ruined shirt so he could get it all. He used a small cup, and comb to use the water from a nearby river, to wash the blood from his hair. He sat by Naruto, waiting for him to wake up. After around an hour Narutos eyes slid open.

Obito looked on worriedly as Naruto sat up. "Naruto?" He asks. Naruto lifts his head, and Obito gasps as he sees that Narutos Newly healed eye was bloodred, with a slitted pupil. The other eye was blue, like normal.

"You? I thought you were a dream! All the other kids told me they couldn't see or hear you! I believed them when you disappeared! Now you're back!? What are you!?" Naruto asked. Obito stared at him sadly.

"I am dead. A ghost. I'm attached to you. I protect you. My name is Obito Uchiha."
