Day Out

I was in my pyjamas in the living room, watching TV. Matteo hated me being in my pyjamas so much, but I didn't care because they were so warm and comfortable.

"Get dressed, we're going out." Matteo said.

I looked round and saw him leaning against the doorway.

"What are we going out for?" I asked with a frown.

"A date, we haven't been on one in a while, so I thought it'd be nice." Matteo shrugged.

I smiled, "That sounds great."

I got up and went upstairs to the room we shared. The carpet was cream and the bed was white with drapes around it, I loved the room. I opened the door to the wardrobe and walked inside, I looked through my clothes and picked out a short light blue dress.

I thought it was great that I had all the clothes I wanted, Matteo gave me money for whatever my heart desired.

Once I was changed I went back to the living room, where Matteo was watching TV.

"I'm ready."

He turned the TV off, got up and looked at me and he smiled. "I love that dress, it really suits your figure."

"Thank you." I smiled.

I knew how Matteo loved dresses that accentuated my big boobs and bum and my small waist. I felt more confident in them as well.

I went with Matteo to the garage and we got into his red soft top car. He drove out of the garage and onto the road.

I wondered where we were going, my heart was racing as I smiled. I loved going on dates with Matteo and they didn't happen often which made them even more special.

"I just love going on dates."

"I know you do." Matteo chuckled as he nodded. "It's good getting to spend time with you."

"I have even more time now that uni is finished for the Summer."

I was staying with Matteo until university started again, although I might go home for a few weeks to see my parents and older brother Conor.

"Won't you get bored just sitting about the house all day?" Matteo asked with a frown.

"I don't think so, I enjoy watching TV and playing video games. Plus I see friends from uni sometimes."

We got onto a busy road, filled with traffic and people walking on the pavement. New York was far busier than my small village back in Ireland.

"I hope you aren't telling them about my work."

I rolled my eyes, "Of course I'm not doing that."

It'd be far too risky to tell anyone about the mafia and how Matteo was involved and it wasn't their business anyway. If I needed to talk about issues I normally just talked to Paulie, he nearly always cheered me up and he was understanding.

"Good, it's not something we want to get out."

"I know, I've been keeping all these secrets for nearly a year. You should know by now that can trust me."

"You're right, I'm sorry." Matteo sighed. "So will you be here all Summer or will you go home at some point?"

"That eager to get rid of me?"

"I didn't mean it like that." Matteo shook his head.

"I was just messing with you." I giggled. "I'm not sure yet, I might go home for a few weeks."

"I'm sure it'd be nice for your family to see you again."

"Yeah, I'd like to see them, I miss them." I sighed.

I hadn't seen my family for nearly a year and I missed Ireland, the food just wasn't the same in America. And I missed the beautiful, green countryside with the cows, or sheep or horses; fields always had one of those three animals in them.

"Have you ever been to Ireland?" I asked with a frown.

"No, I've always been too busy here. I've also heard it rains all the time over there."

I giggled as I shook my head, "It doesn't rain all the time."

"I don't even think I'd be able to understand half the people there."

My eyes widened. "You understand me just fine."

"I do now." Matteo nodded. "I'm not going to lie, when I first met you, I didn't understand everything you said."

"Wow, that's unbelievable." I said as I shook my head. "It's not like I speak another language, that's so funny." I giggled.

"Hey now, don't make me all embarrassed, I feel bad enough that I couldn't understand you." Matteo chuckled.

Matteo parked the car outside the cinema, I loved watching movies.

"You picked a good date spot." I said with a smile.

"Thanks, I know how you love going to the movies."

I went inside with Matteo and there weren't many people around, we went straight to the desk and asked what movies were on. I loved all genres, but I knew that Matteo hated rom-coms, so we picked an action movie.

Matteo ordered popcorn and drinks as well and then we went into the cinema room.

"Where do you want to sit?" Matteo asked.

"The back, as always. You should know this by now."

"I suppose I should, we've been here a lot."

I went to the back with Matteo and we sat together. He gave me the large bucket of popcorn and I took and handful and ate.

"Are you excited for the movie?"

"Uh, not really." Matteo shook his head.

"Well I am, I always get so excited for movies!" I exclaimed as I smiled.

"You certainly do." Matteo chuckled with a nod.

I loved seeing new movies and I always got excited when I went to the cinema. Matteo forgot a few things about me, but he must've remembered that I love going to the cinema.

"And I love all the genres, so there's not many movies that I won't watch."

"I think that's a good thing, it means we can watch action movies or horror, cause you know I hate rom-coms."

"I know." I rolled my eyes.

I only got to watch rom-coms with friends or at home when Matteo wasn't around, he literally refused to watch them.

The movie came on after a while and I enjoyed it so much that it felt like it was over in a few minutes.

"So what did you think of the movie?" I asked as I looked at Matteo.

"It was pretty good."

"I loved it." I smiled.

We left the cinema and I got into the car with Matteo. It was completely dark out and there was a chill in the air.

"I don't think there's any movies that you don't like."

"Well, I can name two, I don't like 2001: A Space Odyssey or West Side Story. They're both so boring." I rolled my eyes.

"I would agree." Matteo replied as he nodded. "I didn't even watch them to the end."

"Neither did I." I giggled and shook my head. "Like I know they're meant to be classics, but I couldn't get past the first thirty minutes of either of them. All that prancing around was so cringeworthy."

"I know, I wouldn't be caught dead doing that." Matteo shook his head.

I smiled, thinking of how funny it would be to see Matteo leaping like a ballerina. Unfortunately I would never see it in real life, Matteo wouldn't be that silly even if he was drunk.

I frowned when I noticed that Matteo had missed the turn off leading to our house.

"Uh, you just missed the turn off."

"I didn't, we're not going home yet."

"Then where are we going?"

Matteo didn't often go to two different places for a date, it was just one place and then home.

"Well, that's a secret." Matteo smiled.

"I hope you aren't planning on whacking me."

I assumed that wasn't what Matteo was doing, but I found it funny to mess with him a bit.

"Why would you even think that?" Matteo asked with a frown.

"It was a joke, I don't actually think you're going to whack me." I shook my head.

I hadn't done anything to warrant Matteo killing me, I'd never snitched on him or the others or shared any details.

"How did you learn that terminology anyway?"

"From movies, I watched like one or two before I came here and then a few more when I found out about you. I love those movies." I smiled.

I became very interested in mafia movies when I found out Matteo was actually in the mafia. It was a bit like I was living the real life version of the movies.

"Alright..."

I hoped I hadn't made Matteo mad, it had been such a lovely day with him.

"Which is your favourite?"

"Definitely Goodfellas."

"It's good, probably my favourite as well." Matteo said as he smiled.

I sighed, thank God he wasn't angry at all. With him I couldn't tell sometimes what he wouldn't like me doing, I knew for certain I wasn't allowed to talk about his business with the mob, but otherwise I wasn't sure.

"But Joe Pesci was crazy in that movie." I said with a shake of my head.

"He certainly was."

We got to a quiet road, with virtually no traffic and I thought it was much more peaceful. I much preferred a quiet area, to a noisy, busy area, it was probably because I'd grown up in a village.

Thankfully my house with Matteo was out of the way so it was usually pretty quiet. The city was the complete opposite.

"People like him get fucking whacked, they're too risky to have around."

"That doesn't surprise me. Although I was a bit shocked when he got killed in the movie."

I knew the mafia couldn't have a loose cannon around, it'd attract too much attention from the police. That was the last thing they would want.

Matteo stopped the car and the city lights brightened the gloomy sky. It was beautiful, I'd never seen New York look like this.

"Is this a treat or what?"

"It's pretty great." I nodded.

"A beautiful view, for my beautiful girlfriend."

"Thank you." I replied and smiled.

Matteo leaned closer to me and I faced him, I leaned in, closed my eyes and kissed Matteo. I rested my hands on his strong shoulders, while his hands cupped my cheeks.

Even though he annoyed me sometimes I couldn't deny that he was a great kisser. Days like this were worth all the trouble and stress, this had been the perfect day.

Matteo pulled away and he rubbed my arms. "Look Rosh..."

That didn't sound good, was he breaking up with me? I didn't know what I would do if he did, I didn't have my own house and a lot of my money came from him.

Sure I'd saved money before I came here and I had a job as a waitress, but it wouldn't be enough for me to live here.

"I need to go out tonight, so I'll have to drop you home. Will you be alright on your own?"

I sighed in relief, he wasn't breaking up with me at all. I didn't really like being on my own, especially in the night but I'd deal with it.

"I'll be fine." I replied and nodded. "I thought you were going to break up with me."

"Jesus, no. I'd be an idiot to do that." Matteo shook his head.

"Yeah, you would be." I smiled.

"But if there's an emergency you can call me or one of the others."

"I will."

I hoped there wouldn't be an emergency, but at least I had a few people to call if there was.

"Anyway I need to drop you off home now, I don't want to be late."

Matteo drove off, away from the view of the city lights.

"I understand." I replied as I nodded.

I didn't know where Matteo needed to go or why, but I probably didn't want to know anyway. I would just assume that he was going to beat someone up or kill them, or he may just be going to talk with the bosses. Whatever it was I didn't really care as long as I wasn't involved.
