Janelle breezed on as if I hadn't daydreamed.
"You know that weird text? The Bodyguards' Association one? Well, 15 May is tomorrow!" she exclaimed.
"Huh? Oh. Yeah." I replied.
My eyes were caught on Deryl Hernandez. He was the cutest guy in 11th grade and I absolutely had to have him look at me. He was talking to Jed Warren. Janelle noticed me gazing adoringly at Deryl and sighed.
"Corrine, just how many boys are you going to chase? Last I knew, you had Jed and Ry hanging off you. Now you're after Jed's bestie? Really, Corrine, slow down!" Janelle said, mock scolding me.
I knew it wasn't supposed to hurt, but it did.
I'm a hopeless romantic, yet I couldn't hang on to a guy, I couldn't even hold on to my own heart.
How am I going to survive this?
Janelle noticed me hurting and said softly," Corr, you know I don't mean it. But you should learn to control yourself. You can't just fling yourself at every cute guy you see. Alright?"
I nodded numbly, but couldn't resist retorting," How about George Remy? Can I go after him?"
She gasped.
I knew I hit a sore point in her.
George Remy was her on and off boyfriend. She always swore she would never ever touch him ever again, but they always got back together.
Recently, he cheated on her with Lucia Carlos, but now he was begging like a dog for Jann back.
Janelle stood there, frozen as the bell rang. Then she slowly pulled herself back together.
"Please don't. Can we just stop arguing?" she asked helplessly.
I nodded and we walked to class together.
