CHAPTER 1

Hi, everyone! It's actually my first attempt in writing MM ff. My writing is far from perfect and the same goes with my English (English is not my first language). Yet, I just thought that I needed to do something with the flowing creative juices in my head, especially after achieving Good Ending for Jumin's, Zen's and Seven's routes (I have a soft spot for them for different reasons and yeah, I am a new fan. Quite late, isn't it? :P). I hope you enjoy this story nevertheless :D

CHAPTER 1

"Hahahha. You're really cute!"

"I love you with all my heart. Only you."

"If the God allows it, I want to keep you in my heart forever."

"I love you, Soo. I love you so much."

A sweat-drenched body shot up, leaving the faintly screech of the single-bed from the sudden movement echoed for seconds. It was soon swallowed by the lonely and quiet night. Her black eyes stared at the window emptily but her heart did not share the same adjective. It was full of strange and burning feelings that hurt her chest.

"The... the dream again," the girl, HaeSoo muttered, ignoring the sticky and uncomfortable sensation of her long black hair on her neck and temples. "What's with those voices? So loud that they got so creepy."

Head ache was another side-effect that she had to suffer from such a dream. She despised the dream the most. It made her nauseated even all she did in it was walking aimlessly in darkness. For Hae Soo, it was better for her to be clueless and alone in a foreign place rather than being surrounded and haunted by a bunch of strangers' voices without knowing where they were.

Who knows from which direction they will show up... I hate it the most...

Her daily life consisted of dealing with perverts to the point of she had to hit or punch them to make them come to their senses. So, she did not want to deal with any in her dream. She always prayed that she got a princess-like night sleep since she was mistreated a lot in daylight.

"Hae Soo, dear... are you awake already?" The soft knock on the door managed to make her flinch. This was when she realized how each day passed, that particular dream had slowly swallowed her mind stability.

"Ye... yes, mom," she replied, quickly pushing her thin blanket from her legs. Crap, her voice even broke from the anxiety!

"Make it quick, okay? Don't make Mr. Cha disappointed like the last time," her mother's way-too-soft voice from outside of her bedroom made her heart sink.

Of course, as expected from her mother. Anything about that freaking Mr. Cha would make her way too ecstatic to care about Hae Soo's constitution.

"Well, maybe she will show her care if she can actually see my condition," Hae Soo muttered before dragging her legs to the bathroom.

That was how Min Hae Soo's days had begun since five years ago. Being scared and confused by a dream of a bunch of male voices, blurting out questions even though she knew that no one could give the answers and got ready for her work.

Hae Soo always hated how fast each morning rained her life; her reality. She wished she could make her sleep or rest time doubled so that she could have much longer time to relieve herself from her negative thoughts.

Despite his respect and close relationship with his father, the man was also the reason why Han Jumin's chief assistant kept changing. Whoever caught his father's interest, it was the end for him and those girls were more than willing to follow his father since working with Jumin after some time was depressing and lacklustre. The annoying cycle went on and as much as it wasted his time, Jumin had no choice but seeking a new assistant for so many times.

Yet, no matter where he went to and sought, Jumin always found that those secretarial girls were bound to be pretty and stylish.

Of course, according to his father, they needed to be stylish because they were beside their bossess all the time. Meeting with clients, launching events, conducting interviews and many more; an assistant needed to be presentable for the sake of the company's image. Thanks for that convincing and professional reason, Jumin's father always managed to conceal the fact that he loved a pretty assistant for a personal reason.

Chairman Han needed a pretty companion because he loved it.

Yet, that was not the case for Jumin. As long as his assistant could work well, it was enough for him. He needed a worker; not a girlfriend nor eye candy.

Which was why he ordered his latest assistant, Kang Jaehee to cut her hair and wear glasses despite her perfect eyesight. It was an obligation between them so that his father did not spare even a glance at her and Jumin's life would be peaceful with Jaehee doing her work flawlessly.

But today, the normally lack of friendliness air that always surrounded him and Jaehee whenever the woman was in his office to submit files or sorts was not there. Instead, the presence of her resignation letter on his desk was enough to make him feel hard to response.

"First, you wrote a so-called excellent proposal for the coffee project until my father was extremely pleased about it. You pushed aside Elizabeth the 3rd and chose the longcat as the mascot as if Luciel is your boss and now... what?"

Jumin's naturally deep voice was way deeper this time but he did not mean to intimidate the woman in front of him.

Wait, there was no way Jaehee would feel intimidated. She had worked with him for more than two years so there was no way a stoic like Kang Jaehee would feel so. His other employees might flinch at his simple but cold questions but Jaehee was never the case.

Never the case but still performed excellently in her job. She was blunt for sure which fitted Jumin's personality who was also brutally honest but this time, how he wished Jaehee's resignation letter was actually a metaphor.

Was actually a sick joke...

"I want to resign, Mr. Han."

But she did not. She never intended to joke around from the start, as expected from the robot-like assistant (according to Jumin). She might love to joke around and binge-watch Zen's musical the whole night but she never 'programmed' herself to pull a joke on Jumin.

"Why? What's the issue? Your salary?"

"No, It's not about the pay," as she lifted her head, Jumin swore he could see what Seven always exclaimed whenever Jaehee got excited and acted sharp.

Jaehee's glasses glinted. He was positive he could see it for a second.

"Then, why?"

"It's a personal reason."

"Is it really not because of the pay? Exactly how much do you believe I owe you for all your hardwork?"

"Everything has been compensated handsomely, Mr. Han. Don't worry about that."

"No, I am not worried at all because I can always pay you more. It's just that something feels off; considering your background and how according to your resume, you seemed like the person who would work hard for anything as long as you were given a job and a good working environment," Jumin remarked carefully so that his words smoothly brought Jaehee back to the day when she was still a job seeker. "And now, you are talking about personal reasons. That's very unlike you, Assistant Kang. It's not like you have a personal life before..."

Without sparing time for Jaehee to be offended about him questioning her close-to-non-existent personal life, Jumin's eyes sized up as something crossed his mind.

The last week chatroom...

"Come to think of it, on the messenger... Zen has talked about seeking for a manager for quite some time..." as he mumbled while observing Jaehee's 'gosh, I got caught!' expression, Jumin swore it would be comical if only it was not caused by her resignation. "Don't tell me..."

"It's a personal reason."

"Assistant Kang."

"I repeat, it's a personal reason."

"If you still want to stay as a RFA member, you still have to chat often with me on the messeger. Are you okay with that?"

"Then, did you just imply that you can't be professional..."

"There is no way I'll do that. I appreciate it if you can just tell the truth."

"It's a personal reason, Mr. Han. It's stated in the contract that I have a right to resign for an undisclosed reason."

Jumin nodded. Eventhough she looked a bit nervous now, there was no doubt that she was right. Jaehee was always calm but she had her clumsiness and reluctance some time. Jumin was not surpised if she already practiced to speak to him firmly and confidenly like this in front of mirror for countless times.

"Okay, then. Since you are going to quit, you know what to do after this, right?"

"Yes, of course," again, Jumin was positive that he could see Jaehee's glasses emitted a small light with a 'ting' sound effect. How could her glasses react to how she felt, again? "Should we look back at those resumes from the previous interviews? I will filter and print out those..."

"No need. I remember that none of them suit my requirements so we need to start fresh. Go and do your job now. We don't have time to lose," as Jumin turned to his laptop, Jaehee could only sigh. "I believe there's someone else out there who can fit the job."

"I understand, Mr. Han. Now, excuse me."

Jaehee's heels echoed for each step but her her mind was faster to cloud itself with a lot of exciting thoughts.

Wearing branded clothes, being blessed with a slender body, getting make up done by professionals for free and stealing the limelight on many runways might be the dreams of a lot of women.

But not for Hae Soo who suffered more than what those clothes and so-called glamorous life had promised her.

"Min Hae Soo!"

Crap! She ended up being spaced out again and now her name was called out rather strictly.

No, their instructor and fashion designer, Cha Kyu Jong was indeed acting strict.

Which made Hae Soo always mentally rolling her eyes.

Hae Soo turned, which made her stop exactly at the end of the runway. She could catch how pale other models looked but she could not care less with it.

She knew what to expect after this since this was not the first time.

"Seriously, Hae Soo... What's wrong with your hips? They made your walks look weird. Do you hurt somewhere?" That Cha Kyu Jong now even had guts to stare at her from head to toe despite he was commenting on her hips.

"No, I don't," she said, instantly covering her body shape with her hands even she knew it did not help much. The tight red dress that she wore felt even suffocating when the instructor still gazed at her like a hungry lion.

You stare again then I will...

"Then, shall we start again, Hae Soo dear?" As if he could hear her almost-to-be-vicious thought, Kyu Jong met her eyes.

Who's whose dear? No one can call me that except for my mom, you pervy!

As she passed Kyu Jong to start again, she could feel he touch her waist area which was close to her buttock. Maybe for him, it might pass as an encouraging gesture.

At this moment, Hae Soo swore she could feel her skin burnt and peeled off her face.

You never give up, don't you? Still try to lay your filthy hands on me!

"Everyone, please move away! Let the queen of the runway spread her wings!" Kyu Jong shouted and since he was so respected by everyone except Hae Soo, it took too fast for other models to move aside and watch Hae Soo like a TV.

What's. He. Trying. To. Do. Now?

Hae Soo's friend, Ae Ra was a queen of reaction so it was not a surprise at all when the bubbly girl spilled her drink right now. It was so typical of her that even when they were in a public area like the park, Ae Ra was totally not embarrassed. Instead, her round eyes stared at her friend in disbelief.

"You... you kicked his..."

"Yes. I kicked Cha Kyu Jong's dignity and potential to produce offspring so that his species won't breed in this world anymore," Hae Soo supplied with a poker face, sending Ae Ra to flinch. She bit her lips as she imagined the pain of being kicked and as much as Hae Soo was still in her worst mood, she chuckled at her friend's cute reaction.

"What's with the face? It's not like you know how it feels like to be kicked right there."

"But, Soo, I heard that..."

"Yeah. Considering how funny all of my assaulters acted before, I must say it really hurt but I don't care! They deserve that!" Hae Soo exclaimed as she lifted her shoulders out of delight while stirring her iced coffee. Her voice was way too cheerful but for Ae Ra who had known her since they were still small, it meant a vendetta. Hae Soo simply acted violent because she could not take it anymore.

There were a lot of people out there who would kill to be a beauty like Hae Soo but her job was always 'killed' by those who took advantage of her. She just wanted to lead a decent life, for crying out loud!

"You must have a hard time, Soo. If you didn't attack him, who knows what might happen to you when others already went home."

"It's nothing new, really. What's important is I need to find a new job as soon as possible, Ae Ra. That's the only way for me to stop the hard time from being prolonged."

"Do you still want to be a model after this?"

"No, not a chance," Hae Soo said, way too vibrant for someone who was fired. "I bet that Kyu Jong won't let this slide. He dramatically yelled about how he would send me to hell so after this, he most probably will use all his connections to banish me from modelling industry for good. Good for me. I don't want to see him either."

"You're tired of it, are you, Soo?"

"Yeah but I am not tired of getting a new job," Hae Soo said, eyes looking around at random sight of cycling boys and happy family. "But the problem is the bosses. There are bosses who think that just because they hire you, they can do anything even it is a misbehavior. I worked as a model for a boutique but they treated me like pole dancers. I worked as a waiter but there were dumbasses who..." Hae Soo closed her eyes in attempt to stay calm. She internally cursed her lips for blurting out those 'dramatic' words. "No, I should not think about those things. Who knows when I can recover."

"Well..." Ae Ra sighed. It was always hard for her to do anything other than comforting her friend. She was always ready for the girl but Hae Soo rarely shared what she felt everytime she was mistreated. "The problem is the boss. They liked you because you're beautiful and when you rejected them, they accused you for being beautiful. That's nuts!"

"Tell me about it. What do they expect then? Do I have to shave my head and stab my face?"

"Of course not! Do you have any idea how much we adore you? All those kids in our neighbourhood will be like 'we want to be beautiful and kind like sis Hae Soo'," Ae Ra said, hugging Hae Soo's firm shoulder. She always enjoyed being snuggly and childish to her friend due to what Hae Soo had. Hae Soo was much taller than her but the most important thing was the girl was always dependable and led the atmosphere.

Maybe that was why in terms of her household, she ended up with her current life; always tried her best to be the only breadwinner.

ZEN : Congrats, Jaehee! You're finally free from the jerk! ^^

Yoosung : Wait, what?? What's that supposed to mean? What gives?

ZEN : Jaehee just resigned and left the dude's company for good! We won't have the overworked victim here anymore since I won't be the same like him. I'll treat Jaehee way better than the jerk!

707 : What, really!? Don't you think it's mean, ZEN? You basically stole his assistant;(

ZEN : 'Stole'? Jaehee is not his property. He didn't buy Jaehee, lol.

After reading the chatroom and decided that it would waste his time, Jumin logged out of the RFA messanger before throwing it to his side. A heavy sigh escaped his lips as he leaned against his sofa. His long legs which he rested on a small table were stiff due to something unfamiliar in his head.

"Meow..."

The snow-like fur tickled his hand, seeking for affection and attention from him. Jumin turned, smiling as his grey eyes met another innocent blue eyes.

Elizabeth The 3rd always worked wonder for Jumin. It did not matter if other people could not understand how he dared to exclaim that the cat was his life companion. As long as the adorable cat was always there for him, he could go through anything.

With a happy sigh as the cat sat on his lap, he grabbed his phone while the other hand caressed the soft fur.

Jumin Han : Assistant Kang... no, I mean, Jaehee... congratulations for your new job. I am cheering for you.
