Chapter 23 • First Date
Axel was a nervous wreck, he wanted this date to go perfect, not one thing could go wrong, he had to show Ayliah that he was the perfect mate for her. That he would do anything to make her happy, to show that he would care for her. Even though they have only be separated for a few hours, him and his bear already felt the loneliness without their mate, Ayliah probably also feeling an ache from not being near him. He hopes this date helps further there relationship bringing them even more close together and help their bond grow stronger.
He stood at Sarah's door and knocks, he knew Sarah's mate, Mike, knew Axel was at the door as he would of already sensed him nearing their house. The opens to reveal Sarah standing there with a huge smile on her face.
"Ayliah, Axels here," Sarah says in a sing song voice, and he could hear Ayliahs heart beating a little bit faster, making him pleased that she was just as nervous as he was.
Axels hears the soft tapping of her shoes as she walks towards him and into his sight. She was always beautiful to Axel, anytime she would look at him his heart would go crazy, and seeing her dressed up for their date had those feelings coming even stronger. His palms were getting damp and his heart thudding loudly as he took deep breaths. She was breathtaking.
He told Sarah his plan so she could help Ayliah pick an outfit that was suitable for where they were going and she was. He was glad that he had cleared all the branches and sticks out of the way just in case, and it came in handy. He would hate if she fell and hurt herself.
She stood in front of him in a peach coloured skirt, that stops above her knees, and a grey and white stripe, long sleeve, shirt and a pair of cream coloured flats. She looks amazing standing in front of him, her hair flowing do n her back in loose curls, barely any makeup on her face. Her green eyes shine as the fading sunlight hits her and she smiles tentatively at him, a pink hue raising on her cheeks. She looked so small, sweet and delicate like a flower. His heart warming as he looks at his mate.
"You look beautiful Ayliah," he voice in awe as he stares at her, meaning every word he said and even more. She was enthralling, gorgeous, a true beauty to him and she was all his.
"Well you two have fun!," Sarah's joyful voice pulling them out of the daze as she starts to push them outside before slamming the door making them flinch from the sudden action.
"I really mean it, you look stunning," he says leaning into her to press his lips to her delicate soft cheeks.
"Thank you, you look great also," her eyes roaming over him, taking in his snug blue jeans the hugs his thighs each step he takes. His white shirt clung to his wide shoulders and strong arms, the sleeves pushed up to his elbows, revealing his toned forearms.
He looked amazing and she didn't want to tear her eyes away. He grabs her hand before leading her to his truck and helping her settle inside, before he gets in.
He was taking Ayliah to his favourite spot hoping she loves it just as he much he does. He had found the spot years again when he claimed that part of the forest for his home. No one knows about it, not even members of his clan and he had never brought anyone there, liking that it was only his spot, and now he wanted to share that with Ayliah. He still went there often, it was the one place he would go to, to relax after a stressful day or to just think about anything and everything. He often went in his bear form and would lay under the trees and stars.
When they reach a part of the forest, Axel parks the car before jumping out and rushing to Ayliahs side to open her door for her and grab her hand to help her down. Warmth always flows through his body every time they touch, his heart growing more for her. She smiles at with a soft "thank you" before looking around.
The sun had disappeared behind the trees, and the moon was shining above them, giving a light glow around them and through the trees. Axel didn't have to worry about not being able to see, being a bear shifter he has stronger and heightened senses, he could see in the pitch dark, even more clear in his bear form.
Walking through the dense trees, Axel holds Ayliahs hand firmly in his, her hands warm in his and he could feel the hum of contentment flowing in his body. The farther they walked the thicker the trees became and when she looked down she notices tulips on the ground on each side of them and she smiles as she looks up at him just as the reach Axels favourite spot and a small gasp left her lips as she stares at everything around her. Taking in the beautiful sight Axel had set up for her.
Clear blue water bathed in moonlight and you could the large and small rocks in the water, all different colours, sparkling though the water, adding a glow of the creek. There was three small falls in the creek, water quietly splashing as it fell down. Lush green grass covers the ground, weeds and dandelions littering everywhere along.
Axel had set up two thick logs beside the creek, shaping them into a 'v' formation and in between the logs were sticks and branches he had placed there for a fire. He had never used them before but tonight he had set it up and got it ready for a small bonfire. He had brought marshmallows, graham crackers and chocolate to make s'mores, one of her favourite treats, he got Sarah to get from her. Axel wanted to learn it all himself, but if he asked she may have known what he had planned and he didn't want to ruin.
Her face in surprise she takes in the scenery, beside the logs there was a small table and two chairs, plates with covers sat on top of the table along with two glasses and a bottle of wine.
"Oh my god Axel," she breathed out, she loved it. No one has gone to such great lengths like this before for her. She couldn't help the feeling of her chest growing warm and heart beating for him. She was growing more closer to the man, he made her feel like she always wanted to.
"You didn't have to do this, but thank you! I love it, it's beautiful," her voice soft, a beautiful smile graces her face and she stands in front of him before standing on her toes to place chaste kiss on his lips.
Shock, excitement and happiness flew through his body. Shock she had actually kissed him on her own, excitement she liked how it was going and happiness because he made her happy.
"Anything for you, come. I made your favourite," he brings her to the table pulling her chair out for her and then lifting the lid of her plate. The aroma hit her instantly and her somtach growls, her face heating up with embarrassment and he chuckles.
"I know I'm starving too," he winks at her, glad he didn't make fun of her.
Grilled stakes, medium rare, sat with scallop potatoes and string beans, it was her favourite since she was child, her dad making it every year on her birthday.
"Wow, this looks amazing Axel! Thank you, this is my favourite meal. My dad still makes this for me every year on my birthday," a warm smile filled with love placed on her face as she remembers her dad.
"Have you talked to your family recently," he asks as he sits down and they start to eat, the clatter of forks and knifes heard in the silence of the forest.
"Yes, I was just talking to them actually, they miss me. Of course I miss them too, I want to go see them, but I'm not sure if it's a good idea with everything going," her face falling before she perks up again.
"But enough of that. I want to enjoy this night with you, our first date," her smile radiant he couldn't help but smile back at her.
Axel grabs the wine and pours them a glass, he wasn't a fan of wine but for tonight he would make an exception. Handing a glass to her, he holds his out.
"To our first date, I hope there will be more," their glasses clink and taste a sip before his face grimaces and she laughs.
"Don't drink it if you don't like it, it's okay. But I agree, I hope there will be more," a huge grin covers his face as his eyes light up at that. She wants more, she wants to go out with him again. His bear was almost pounding around which was ridiculous but even Axel couldn't deny the thrill that shot through him.
As the night went on, they moved over to the wooden logs and Axel started the fire and surprised Ayliah with everything to make s'mores.
"You're literally the best, another one of my favourites. How are you going to top the next date of your using all the good cards now," she teases him. He likes her playful side, the way her eyes light up with a glint in them.
"Trust me, I have many more cards to pull from," his charming smile almost has Ayliah swooning. He seemed to know everything she liked, making sure to get down to the last detail.
As the fire crackled and popped, ashes blowing in the wind, they took everything out to make their first s'mores. Axel had to admit to her he had never made s'mores before and to say she was shocked was the least. She took everything out of his hand and makes his first one for him, the gooey marshmallow melting the chocolate she hands it to him to try.
Flavour hit his mouth and he immediately loves s'mores, he couldn't believe he was missing out.
"Um, you have a- a little bit of marshmallow on your face," she points at a spot on his face, biting her lip trying not to smile.
"I know, care to help me with it," his voice seductive and low, doing it intentionally, a slow grin forms.
"Mhm, I think would," she says lowly her voice like a light breeze, and she moves closer to Axel, their bodies pressed together.
His face turns towards her, her hands hold his face still she leans in and starts kissing up his jaw until she reaches the spot beside his mouth. A small puff of marshmallow sat there with a little bit of melt chocolate, and she sticks her tongue out before she slowly licks up the gooey mess. Her warm tongue so close to his mouth, lust shot through his body and he had to grip the log beneath him to control himself. His body was burning and breaths becoming shallow when all of a sudden he felt her fleshy lips on his, kissing him eagerly.
Their lips lock in a passionate kiss, His one hand goes behind her neck making her tilt up more and hold her firmly as his lips mould to hers. He wanted to deepen the kiss but he didn't want to push too far, he wants to take it slow, even if slow is not what he wants.
Pulling away, this breaths puff out, mingling together in the air between them before he stands up in front of her, his hand held out to her.
"Dance with me," he tells her, once again not asking and she smiles at that with a slight squint to her eyes before her smile broadens.
"I'd love too," her hand in his and he pulls her up to walk her to the grass, his arms wrapping around her body as hers went around his neck.
Their bodies pushed close together, they swayed side to side under the moonlight as the fire crackled beside them, a cool breeze had her moving in closer to Axel as her hair flew wildly around her. Her skin bathing in the moonlight, her eyes slowly drift close and her head resting right above his heart, she looked enchanting. He wished he had a camera to take a picture of her, her beauty under the moonlight with him. He could feel his love for her grow stronger as he looks down at her, his heart warming each second they sway together.
They stayed dancing well into the night before he put the fire out and carried her back to his truck and tucking her inside before driving them back home. Home, he thought. He was going home with his mate.
Phew that was a longer chapter but no way could I have cut it down. I do hope you enjoyed it, don't forget to vote and comment if you did (:
