Chapter 19

After breakfast, the couple stood outside as they waited for Sarah. Axel wasn't going to leave until he knew she wasn't alone and was with Sarah.

The breakfast had been nice, but it would have been more better it was a real date. He wanted to ask her on a date but he'll admit, he was scared. Sure there was sexual tension there but did she actually like him, was the mate bond helping? Along with all the shit with her ex and Lilly, he wasn't too sure if this was the right time.

The sound of a horn honking brought him back and he looked to see Sarah in white suv, waving wildly through the windshield, her mouth in a open smile and he heard Ayliah chuckling. Looking down he sees her shaking her head at her friend before turning to look at me, a graceful smile on her beautiful face.

"Thank you for breakfast Axel," his name pushed pass her lips and he almost shuddered. He loved when she said his name.

"Anytime, Ayliah," his voice slightly lower with almost a husk to it and he meant it. Anything she wanted, he would do.

He almost groaned out loud when her tongue swiped her bottom lip and it glistened, all he wanted to do want kiss her. One kiss was all he wanted. To feel her lips on his.

"Also, thank you for last night. For coming to my place in the middle of the night. And for staying the night with me, I appreciate it," her tone matching her eyes that shows she is grateful for all that he has done for her.

She walks closer to Axel, both of their breaths uneven, Ayliahs more so. Stopping just before him she stands on her tippy toes and gently kisses his cheek, the feel of his scruff on her lips as she brushed them against his cheek, tickled.

Axels heart was pounding, the feel of her soft, delicate, lips touched his cheek and his eyes widen as his breath faltered, before his eyes lowered and he took in a sharp breath.

He wanted to stay in this moment forever.

And just as quick as her lips were on his cheek, they were gone and his shoulders slumped. Now more than anything he didn't want to go and he didn't want her to go, but he knew he had to. He had to find out what was going on. Who was breaking into her place and who trashed Lilly's shop.

Ayliah took a step back and looked up at Axel, astonishment covered his face along with happiness and she smiled a shyly at him before turning around to walk to Sarah's car. Who was without a doubt had her face stuck to her windshield with her eyes wide open and her mouth slacked in shock as she looked between the both of them, and she had a strong urge to laugh at the girl.

"I'll see you soon, Ayliah," Axel voice rumbles out causing shivers to run through her body and she felt giddy.

"Until then Axel," she throws over her shoulder, a coy smile on her lips and he smiles a lopsided smile back at her. She didn't know where that came from but she liked it and she likes Axel, no doubts about it. That man stirred something in her and she couldn't wait to see what happens next.

Axel watched the car drive away as he continued to stare, a smug smile covering his face. He couldn't wipe the smile off his face as he drove to the station, nor did it leave when he walked in and near gave Beth a heart attack as she looked at him in pure shock. Much like Sarah's face and he chuckled, literally knocking the breath from the old women, as she clenched her chest above her heart.

"My god Axel! What has happened to you?!" Beth asks dumbfounded, before she composes herself again and he shakes his head at her.

Great. Soon the whole town will know how he walked into work smiling stupidly, he thought and he didn't even care.

"I knew it! I knew you met a girl! So who is? Someone I know? Do I get to met her? Of course I do! When I mean, when do I get to met this young lady that has you walking around smiling like a manic," Beth fires off.

"Not right now, you'll probably scare her off," humour dancing in his eyes.

"Psh, I just want to me the girl that has you smiling," her face full of warmth.

"Oh, Jarred waiting for you," she tells him, just remembering and he nods before he heads back.

He had completely forgot about his meeting with Jarred as he was too preoccupied thinking about Ayliah. He could hear Jarred pacing in his office, no doubt hearing everything that Beth had said.

"What took you so long," his blonde hair friend fired the moment he walked in.

"With my mate, but you already knew that," his tone going back to the gruffness that it was. He couldn't be like that with Ayliah and he never would be, but this was work.

"Mhm, that's good. I'm happy you found your mate," Jarred clasp his hand on Axels shoulder before squeezing.

"But it's a damn shame I don't get you to myself now," his friend mocks and Axel rolls his eyes.

"Now on a serious note, how is she doing?" Jarred looks at him worriedly and Axel looks at his best friend with his brows furrowed in confusion.

He had no idea what the man was talking about.

"You know...how you raced to her place in the middle of the night," he looks at Axel expectantly. "Lilly told me see seen you racing down the streets."

Axel was already suspecting Lilly and was hoping she wasn't stupid of foolish enough to do anything, but this was just proving to his that he couldn't even fucking trust her. When the fuck did she see him? He didn't drive by her place, and even if he did, how the hell would she know he was going to Ayliahs.

Let alone, know something was wrong.

The more he thought the angrier he felt. Now he was wondering if Lilly trashed her own store herself.

He obviously couldn't trust her, he thought as his bear and himself bristled with anger.

I hope you guys are enjoying the book, I know it slows down at spots but don't want to rush into everything or it turns crappy and rushed into. Don't worry, more of the good stuff if coming (;
