(8) Renaissance, Romanov, Roxana

Florence bolted upright from her seat, running down the hall and nearly tripping from her own scrambling feet. She felt her hand shake slightly as her hand hovered over the handle, before throwing the back door open. Her heart swelled as she saw the red haired man standing in the far corner of her backyard, looking rather disheveled from the apparation, but overall looked healthy and well.

Her feet ran instinctively to his direction, slamming herself into his open arms, the force of the impact managing to topple them over into the grass, arms still locked securely onto one another. Florence could once more hear the rhythm of his heartbeat as Fred pressed her firmly against his chest, fearing that she might slip away from his embrace if he did not hold on tight enough. They laid in the grass, tangled around each other for what felt like an eternity, before Fred broke away slightly, cupping her face in his hand like it had been the first time he's ever held her.

"I mean it this time," he choked out, their breathing erratic from the excitement of their reunion as they looked into each other's eyes. "I'm never going anywhere ever again. Never. Not unless you're by my side."

"I've missed you so much," Florence breathed, feelings genuine happiness swell in her chest for the first time in weeks. She brought her lips onto his, melting deep into the simultaneous tenderness and passion of their kiss. Fred grabbed her hand, holding it tenderly in his before he moved to kiss every knuckle, "Marry me." he said, fidgeting with her engagement ring that still hugged her finger, making Florence chuckle, "Did you hit your head somewhere and lost your memories? I already said yes to that."

"I know. I remember everything that day. How could I ever forget it when it was the happiest day of my life?" Florence blushed at this, allowing herself to get lost in the gaze of his hazel eyes, his eyes filled with nothing but love, his eyes that she missed terribly, "I just want to ask you again." he stated, rolling over onto his back and pulling her on top of his chest, "Florence Magdalene Price, you are the blazing sun of my life. Without you I feel nothing. Will you do me greatest honor and marry me?"

"Yes, Fred." she giggled, placing a chaste kiss on his lips, "To you, it will always be a yes."

"Good," he grinned, "Hope feels like a lifetime away these days, but I know this will all pass. And when it does, I'm going to marry you. In front of our friends, our family. And we shall never be parted."

"Merlin..." a voice said, Fred and Florence looking up to find Sirius standing by the threshold of the back door, feigning a repulsed look, though he could not hold it for long as a cheeky smile broke through, "You couldn't wait to get upstairs to do that? You've desecrated the grass."

"Sirius!" Florence bellowed as the man laughed heartily, "You're lucky I am not an arm's length away from anything I can chuck at you."

"Fred, mate, it is good to see that you're well." he said, ignoring her empty threats as the two rose from their spot on the grass, "Hogsmeade didn't give you too much trouble, I hope?"

"It was quite a bit of trouble," he said, "Chock full of Death Eaters. Nothing George, Lee and I couldn't handle, though."

"When are George and Lee coming here?" Florence inquired as they made their way back into the warmth of the house, Florence picking a few blades of grass out of her hair and clothing. "They're still working on establishing the Potterwatch channel from the Room of Requirements. It might take a few, but it will be good progress once it's done."

"We should go and help them." she said eagerly, "Xander and I worked on the station here, more hands will mean it will be ready faster."

"That's why Xander is there, he's going to help them speed things up." he explained, "Since you have a station ready here, when Jordan returns to the one in Hogsmeade, he wants you and I to operate this one."

Her eyes lit up with excitement, "Lee wants me to broadcast? On Potterwatch?"

"Yeah! You'd be perfect." he said in encouragement, "You always have an air of confidence about you when you speak."

"I dunno," she said, "I mean, Lee used to commentate for Quidditch matches. I don't think I'll be as interesting as him."

"Well, he has his own way with words, that's for sure. But you'll be your own person, as you are with everything else." Fred smiled, before tucking a few stray pieces of hair behind her ear, "You get to pick a nickname too."

Her brows furrowed together, "A nickname?"

"An alias, code name... whatever you want to call it. All Potterwatch broadcasters ought to come up with one. Must be an R word, though, so you're uniformed with everyone else." he told her, "Kingsley is Royal... well, 'cuz of his name. Jordan is River, like the one out in the Middle East. And George and I... well, it's a work in progress—"

"Oh, I know!"

"No." He said quickly, knowing what she was about to suggest.

"Rodent."

"No," Fred repeated, closing his eyes dramatically, "That's what Jordan suggested too, but it's an awful alias."

"I think it's smart." She said, trying to be helpful, "Weasley. Weasel. Rodent. Brilliant."

"Jordan gets to be River. I'm not gonna be a bloody disease infested critter."

Florence laughed at this, "Fine, a work in progress, then. Though I can't say you'll find anything better." she winked, before a sudden thought came to her "I think I know what mine will be."

He eyed her curiously, "Oh? What is it?"

"Renaissance." she revealed, a glint of excitement in her eyes, "Get it? My name is Florence, like the city in Italy? Where Renaissance was born—"

"That's bloody brilliant." he smiled, "Your mind never fails to impress me every time. I mean seriously, it took you all of five minutes to think that one up."

Florence simply shrugged, "What can I say? It's the Ravenclaw in me. I mean, it's a little wordy sure..."

"Renaissance is perfect." he reassured, "Now I'm never going to settle for Rodent with what you've came up with. You have to help me think up something clever!"

"But Rodent—"

"I won't hear it again!" he declared, marching away from his wife-to-be in protest.

Emmy had gone back to fetch Nicolai after a few hours, the girl looking like she was in better spirits as she returned back to the manor, a smile dawning her face as she walked in to the living room to find Fred and Florence cuddled up together. "Ah, this takes me back to our school days, no? Third wheeling." She joked, plopping herself down onto the couch opposite from them, "On a more serious note, Xander says they'll have the Room of Requirements station running in a few days. Neville Longbottom and Ginny have come up with a shift schedule for the students involved, so they'll have extra help all constantly, should they need it."

"That's good to hear." Florence nodded, "I hope you told Xander to take breaks. You know how he is when he's invested in something badly."

"I convinced him to take a nap earlier today, and to lay off on the tea for a bit. Slept like a baby, but he woke up before but I'll be sure to harass him into getting more rest when I return."

"Your methods astound me, sometimes." Fred stated, Nicolai rolling her eyes at him, "I know you meant otherwise, but I'll still take it as a compliment."

The rest of the week was spent with people going back and forth between Hogsmeade, the Price Manor and the Room of Requirement, making sure that the program was secure enough and would be able to reach a wide area range despite the fact that two of the stations were close in proximity to each other.

Finally, after spending countless hours proofing and double checking all charms were in place, Lee Jordan finally made his first broadcast from the confines of the Room of Requirement.

Everyone in the manor gathered around their station, Nicolai fidgeting with the knob to get on the Potterwatch frequency. After a few twist and turns, a voice crackled to life.

"Name?" It demanded, Florence scooting closer to the radio as she held a piece of parchment Lee had handed her, which contained the first ever password to the Potterwatch program.

"McKinnon." she said, speaking as clearly as she could manage, the radio returning to its static noise promptly, before clearing up once more, everyone in the room then hearing the sound of Lee Jordan's voice.

"Welcome to the first ever broadcast. If you're out there, we've named this secret program Potterwatch, after the four-eyed, scarface hero of the Wizarding world, er, no offense Harry, mate. Anywho, for obvious reasons, I am not able to disclose my identity, but you may call me River. I shall be your main correspondent through most broadcasts, though I am going to introduce a few friends along the way. Oh, one second, here's a friend right now!" he exclaimed, everyone listening in anticipation to determine who it was.

"Hello, all..." came the timid voice of Alexander, Nicolai and Florence grinning giddily at each other as they recognized their friend, "I, ah, thank you, River, for that...well-flowing introduction—"

"Ha! What a pun! Flowing, 'cuz I'm a River? Genius, this one!" Jordan tittered, Florence already picturing the annoyed look on Xander's face that appeared whenever he was interrupted by anyone.

"—To our listeners," he spoke, ignoring Jordan altogether, "My real identity shall also be kept with the utmost discretion, but you may call me Roxana."

Fred's brows rose, "Roxana?" he said, confused, looking to both Florence and Nicolai who understood the reference almost immediately, "What's that got to do with Alexander?"

"Alexander the Great? The muggle ruler from Ancient Greece?" Florence explained, as though she was stating the obvious, "His wife was named Roxana."

"Damn Ravenclaws..." he muttered, once again impressed by the alias.

Jordan and Xander discussed all the important information as of late, talking about safety tips while on the run, reporting on the undesirables and presenting an accurate list of who had been caught so far. They debunked fear mongering tactics instilled by the Death eaters, as well as warning people against speaking the Dark Lord's name if they are in hiding. The pair had even brought some comic relief with their banters, which lightened the mood after talking about serious matters. "This broadcast won't be too long. We know we have barely reached anyone out there, if not at all. Tune in again next week for updates and news in the Wizarding World."

"Next week," Alexander repeated for emphasis, "You shall meet new correspondents of ours. The next password is Albus. I repeat, the next password is Albus. Please, join us next time. This is Roxana,"

"and River, signing off. And remember..."

"Support Harry Potter!" they said simultaneously, before radio static consumed the room once more.

"Brilliant!" Tonks clapped enthusiastically, exciting sentiments passed around by everyone in the room, "As far as first broadcasts go, that was pretty damn successful." Said Sirius, Matthew nodding in agreement, "I cannot wait for the next broadcast."

"Well, it'll be here, so you won't technically have to get on the channel to listen." Florence revealed, "The next one after will be with Kingsley." she turned to Remus, "He wanted me to tell you that he'd like your help with the broadcast."

Remus looked rather surprised, "Me? I don't know, I'm not too good of a speaker."

Sirius looked giddy, looking from his best friend to Florence, "Hey, if Moony won't do it, I wi—"

"Sorry, Sirius, Kingsley specifically instructed me not to send you."

His face fell, "Why not me."

"Maybe because you annoy him." Remus chortled, making Sirius frown, "Hey, I do not! Kingsley loves me!"

"Love isn't the word I'd use." Remus shot back, bickering ensuing between them. Florence stepped out of the room to start preparing for supper, Nicolai and Fred following in tow, "I'm so ready for our broadcast, my love, I already have a script working in my head."

Nicolai turned to him, her brows raised, "And who told you that you were doing next week's broadcast with Flo?" she threw at him, Fred frowning at her in response, "Are you telling me I'm not doing the broadcast with her?"

"That's exactly what I'm saying, Weasley. I'm doing the broadcast with Florence."

"That's not fair." he accused turning to his fiancée for moral support, "Tell her that isn't true."

"You two settle this amongst yourselves." she said wearily, pulling the fridge door open and whipping out a bunch of ingredients as Nicolai and Fred stared each other down, "I'm doing the broadcast with Florence." he repeated firmly.

"That's a load of waffle." Nicolai concluded, "As far as I'm concerned, you don't even have an alias yet." She quipped, leaving Fred irked, "Yeah? And I suppose you do?"

"As a matter of fact, I do." She boasted smugly, "It's gonna be Romanov."

"Wha—"

"If you replace the 'c' in my name with a 'k', then you get the name of the last emperor of Russia. Nikolai the Second. And his family name was...?"

"Romanov." Florence chimed from where she stood infront of the open fridge, still scanning her options while half listening to their bickering.

Fred was stunned, "How do you three know so much about Muggle history?"

"We took Muggle studies." Nicolai shrugged, "But I took muggle studies too, I don't remember learning any of that..." said Fred.

"Oh, sorry, let me rephrase that. We took Muggle studies and actually paid attention."

"Fair enough." Fred grumbled, "You can do the broadcast next week, then, since I still don't have a codename."

"Honestly, Weasley, it's not that hard—" Nicolai paused, as though hit by an epiphany, "Oh my, I've got it! Weasley. Your alias can be—"

"No!" Fred screeched, storming out of the kitchen, making Florence laugh as she saw the confused look on Nicolai's face, "I was going to say Rodent... y'know, Weasley. Weasel?"

"I know, Nic." She mused "You're definitely not the first one to think that."
