SIX
KELLER'S P.O.V
When I finally got home from school, sneaking out at night was all I could think about. What if we get in trouble? What if we get hurt? All these doubtful questions were running through my head, making me regret agreeing to go. But I agreed so now I have to go.
Besides, Parker said he would walk with me to the fence. It's three thirty, giving me a couple of hours to wait until I have to leave. Luckily, my parents won't be home until even later and they don't check my room to make sure I'm in bed. That's one of the many perks of having parents who work all the time. I decide I'm going to listen to music, and I begin to let it drown out all the sounds around me.
~Four hours later~
It's seven thirty, almost time to meet at the fence. I still have a bad feeling about this, bad I'm going to tell Sarah that this was a bad idea if we get in trouble. What scares me is that no one has been in this temple for almost ten years, so it's probably dangerous.
I push these thoughts aside, attempting to think positive thoughts about what lies ahead. Then someone knocks on my door, and I rush downstairs to get it already knowing who it is. I open the door to see Parker smiling at me, looking adorable.
"Hey." I greet, walking outside.
"Are you ready for tonight?" He asks, sounding excited.
"Yeah, I'm totally ready to get in trouble." I say, giving him a sarcastic thumbs up.
"Come on, just have fun. No one is going to catch us."
"Alright."
"Besides, I'll be right here to protect you if anything happens." He promises.
I can tell that he's not joking as he says this, the look in his eyes showing that he's serious. His words make me want to hug him, but I hold myself back from doing so.
"I can take care of myself." I reply.
"Whatever, let's just go."
He grabs my hand, pulling me along as we start walking. By the time we get to the fence, I finally process the fact that he's holding my hand. I just hope that my friends don't realize that he is. As we approach them, luckily none of them pick up that he is. But, as I think this I know they are probably going to tease me about it tomorrow.
"There you guys are." Natalie says as we approach.
"I'm surprised you guys actually showed up. Thought you would chicken out." Sarah chuckles.
"Keller probably would of if I didn't go and get her." Parker jokes.
"I would not!" I say, punching him lightly on the arm.
"Okay lovebirds, break it up let's go." Katrina sighs, putting her hands between us.
That's when I remember we have to climb over the fence. This only makes me think about how much of a bad idea this is. But, I know that I can't back down now. I start to climb the fence, soon reaching the top. Then I jump, barley managing to land on my feet. But when I land on my feet, pink energy shoots out on the ground under me.
"Woah." Parker exclaims, gaping in awe at my energy outburst.
"Keller, are you trying to get us caught?" Brianna scolds.
"Sorry, I guess I don't know my own power." I say bashfully, scratching the back of my head.
"It's okay, now let's move." Brianna orders.
Everyone starts to move, but I stand still wondering what just happened. Then Parker jumps down from on top of the fence, landing beside me.
"Are you coming?" He questions, holding out his hand for me to take it.
"Yeah." I say shakily, hesitantly taking his hand.
We kept walking, soon the temple was in view. As we approached the temple, I noticed that it looked older than we thought. When we got closer, Sarah slipped through one of the holes in the wall.
"See you on the other side." She calls, giving a salute.
"Sarah, be careful!" Katie yelled after her.
"Look who's going to get us caught now." I say.
Then, I walked over, slipping through the hole after Sarah. When I got through, I could see the whole inside of the temple. From the outside the temple looked really old, but when inside you could see the temple's full glory.
The walls were covered in a thick layer of ivy, and held these weird platforms that had pictures imprinted on them. There were six platforms in total. The first one had a picture of a gust of wind on it, the second one had a wave on it, the third one had a flower on it, the fourth one had a flame on it, the fifth one had a snowflake on it, and finally the sixth one had an infinity sign on it.
While we were looking at these symbols, my friends looked just as confused as I was. Katie has wind powers, Brianna has water powers, Natalie has earth powers, Katrina has fire powers, Sarah has ice powers, and I have infinity powers. It was as if these platforms were waiting for us. But why? That was the question running through my head.
Then I remembered Parker, there wasn't a platform that had a symbol for light on it. When I look at his face, he looks sad almost. I almost can't stand looking at his face, the sadness being painful.
"Are you okay?" I ask, placing a hand on his shoulder.
"Yeah." He says. "I'm just confused."
"Well, I think we all are." I reassure.
"Yeah, I guess."
"Come here." I say, gesturing for him to hug me.
He walks towards me, and I wrap my arms around him. It makes me happy, knowing that he will let me comfort him when he is feeling down. As we hug he puts his head on my shoulder. Hugging him just feels so right that everything around us almost seems to fade away. When we pull apart, I continue to study the inside of the temple.
"So, what are we supposed to do?" Katie asks.
"I guess we stand on top of the platforms." Brianna shrugs, not sounding too sure.
"I have a bad feeling about this." Natalie says.
"Well, what other choice do we have?" I question, seeing no other option.
"Yeah, Keller's right. It's either take a chance or go home." Katrina states.
After she says this, we all hesitantly walk towards our platforms. When I reach mine, I look back at Parker for a second. He just nods his head and walks over to me.
He comes over to me, intertwining our hand. It is in this moment that I feel courageous, stepping up on to my platform. Once we all stand on our platforms, the wind starts to pick up. It blows so loudly that I can't even hear myself think. Our platforms start glowing, causing us all drop to the ground because of the wind. Then I hear a voice.
Darkness is rising. You six have been chosen to stop it. Along the way you must trust each other and have faith in yourself. The darkness will test you, so remember to trust in your powers. This is only the beginning. This is the Prophecy of Elements.
Then the wind stops, leaving us laying on the ground dumbfounded. What just happened? I repeat those words in my head, The Prophecy of Elements. Whatever it is, we must have to stop this darkness that this person was telling us about. By what they said, we must be the only ones who can stop it. Finally, we all pick ourselves off the ground.
"What just happened?" Sarah asks.
"I don't know, but I think that something big is about to happen. And we're the only ones who can stop it." I proclaim.
We all look at each other after these words are said. Darkness is rising, and we are only ones who can stop it.
